Princess Cancel For Any Reason Insurance

I was reading online that the Platinum Insurance Policy allows one to cancel for any reason and that one would get credit in the form of Cruise Bucks unless its medical. So I came up with a list of reasons of why people would cancel for any reason. So here it goes.

1. Joe wants to cancel his cruise because he is afraid he will become too addicted to cruising. AKA Cruisers Anonymous a group of cruises who spend way too much money in the casino booking every cruise they see etc. Joe was recently diagnosed as a Cruisaholic by his Doctor and his Doctor advises him that one more cruise will cause his wife to go nuts. Mind you Joe is Zenith Status on Princess.

So the Doctor writes a letter with his Diagnoses along with Cruise Depression Disorder.

2. Mary finds out from her neighbor that Princess just didn't cook their lamb they way they want it. Mary has booked this Alaska Cruise and finds out the food won't be up to par. So she gets her cruise credits for a time when she knows the food has improved.

3. The Jones have just found out the Captain is from a country they would never intend on visiting. As they were expecting an Italian Captain for this journey they decided to take a raincheck and wait for a Captain from Italy.

4. Jim and Sherry found out that Princess offers no 5 star hotels in Fort Lauderdale before the cruise as part of their pre-cruise package as Embassy Suites is not up to their standards. Princess tells them to wait until after Final Payment to see if cancellations come. None do so they want to cancel the deal and wait for a package with a 5 star resort.

5. Dan and Dave two college buddies found out that their favorite bartender from previous cruises won't be on(they keep in touch) . The bartender just got reassigned a few days before so they would rather go on a ship with this specific bartender which is the reason they booked in the first place.

6. Ellen and Steve have always wanted to take a cruise but then they find out a day before there is going to be rough waves. They are so afraid of what will happen and are so nervous so they decide to cancel 10 hours before sailing.

7. Rick and Sharon have just found out that Princess stopped serving their favorite alcohol and they can't bring their own liquor. This just happened 2 weeks before they are scheduled to depart. They would rather wait until their favorite alcohol comes back so they can really enjoy their cruise.

8. Ben and Karen were booked in a Guarantee Cabin expecting an upgrade. Now they found out the ship is sold out and were placed in the cabins by the Casino. Ben has a Casino addiction and his GP Doctor advised him that his cabin needs to be far far away from the Casino-Doctors orders. The ship is sailing out full.

Just some thoughts of scenarios.

9. Mark and Nancy were really looking forward to their cruise, but two weeks before embarkation an E-mail from Princess listed the name of the Cruise Director. Since this was not their favorite CD, they quickly cancelled and will rebook when their favorite CD is assigned to a Princess ship again.

10. Jack and Jill also cancelled when they saw the list of MUTS movies and realized they had seen them all before. They will rebook when movies they have not seen will be shown.

11. Frank and Gloria were all set to cruise until they found "Motor City" was not a production show on their cruise. Once they find a ship with "Motor City", they will make a new booking.

12. Max and Debbie were all set to cruise on the Emerald Princess until they read a post on Cruise Critic that escargot was not served on their itinerary. As that was essential to enjoying a Mediterranean cruise, they cancelled.

13. Myron and Francine learned that their 8:00 2nd seating in the traditional dining room would really be at 8:15. Not able to wait that long for food on a cruise, they cancelled.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bob,Carol,Ted and Alice cancel their 10 day Caribbean Voyager on the Royal Princess when they realize that 4 people won't fit on the balcony at the same time. Unfortunately they didn't find Cruise Critic until after final payment.

In the same vein: Joe and Josephine cancel their cruise when they realize that 2 people won't fit in the shower of a balcony (or ocean view or inside) cabin at the same time.

I thought I had too much time on my hands but obviously there are people who spend much more time on Cruise Critic than I do. I am thoroughly enjoying this thread and wished that I had the ingenuity that all of you possess.

Please continue to add to the list. AND thank you for making everyone's day a little brighter with humor.

Otis and Ellie Vater found out from a source here, that Princess does not have private elevators and they would have to share with other cruisers. This just would not do. They used their "cancel for any reason" clause but were stuck with the credit. :D
