My cruise on the Emerald now has no balcony cabins left!! I have a guarantee balcony so what happens now? Any thoughts or advice would be helpful.

Princess has cabins behind the scenes you can't see.

Remember they have been doing this for a long time.

You could be assigned right up to a couple of days before your cruise.

You will definitely get a balcony cabin or better since you booked a balcony guarantee. Sometimes Princess blocks out all cabins while they shuffle or start assigning the guarantees. Also, some travel agents may have some cabins blocked.

Again, not to worry. You will definitely sale in a balcony.:):):)

Only thing is if its past final TA's will not be holding any more cabins. ;)

I guess they can put a bed in the hall for you. Only kidding. Just because all the balcony categories show as sold out does not mean that every cabin has been assigned. Other options would be they could upgrade/upsell some passengers to mini or full suites. Last resort is usually to offer move overs. this is giving people a real good deal to take a different cruise

Colo Cruiser and anyone else are you saying that all sellers of cruises are required to turn back the rooms they have held at the point of final payment? Does Princess assign the guarantee cabins before they try to upsell or upgrade?

If there were 101 balconies visible yesterday and they have 100 balcony cabins being held by Guarantees, and then one more person booked a balcony cabin, the balconies on your sailing change from 101 available to Sold Out. That is because the person who was booking that balcony was able to pick from all 101 balcony cabins if they wanted to pick a specific one.

As the cruise date gets closer they may upgrade some balcony passengers (most likely those with Balcony Guarantees) to unsold mini suites if they feel they can sell more balconies than mini suites.

They will only do an upsell if there is a need to free up some cabins.

We have been upgraded several times, without warning and found out as we checked in, from our selected low deck, amidships inside cabin to ocean views, balconies, and once a mini-suite. The inside cabin was given to a guaranteed fare passenger. Our reservation was marked no upgrades in each case.

As we actually want an inside cabin, low and amidships, we now have our TA emphasize to Princess that we do not want the upgrade.

We were offered an upsell from our guaranteed balcony to a suite. We turned it down and ended up getting upgraded from a Cat. BF to a Cat. BB. Someone else must have taken Princess up on the upsell offer.

We got our cabin today from Princess. It is on the Baja deck room 731. Really wanted a port cabin but its ok. Anyone have any experience in this cabin? What type of balcony does this have? Fully covered? Partially covered? Thanks for all of your replies. Any room on a cruise is good!!!

Not that specific cabin, but we have had balconies on Baja in the aft section several times. The balconies are uncovered (some don't like that) and a little smaller than Caribe deck balconies which are covered.

Still a balcony is not to be sneezed at.

Its a covered balcony, approx 9'X5'.

If you want a specific side and location of cabin its best not to be dissappointed with a gty and just book the one you want. ;)

If there are higher category cabins open, they will be upgrading passengers who paid a fare other then a "guarantee" fare to open up cabins. You will receive, at minimum, the cabin category you paid for.

Well, this is just not true. I've been upgraded with a guarantee before, and I know lots of other people who have, too. There is not such thing as "guarantee fare": those who book, for example, a BD cabin pay exactly the same amount whether they book a specific cabin in that category or book a guarantee.
