StanandJim,

I just knew you all would know the answer! I'm pretty excited about sending postcards now! Many of the postcard "hot spots" are overnights for us so I could buy 2 the first day, write the message and get it to the front desk in plenty of time to have a HCMC, Beijing, Capetown etc postmark on it--cool!

Mr. H- What a fun hobby to have and years later reviewing them must be such a lovely thing for her to do. You both have the Cape Verde story to tell as part of the thrill of the hunt!!

Thanks, guys! c

Don, I know your collecting passion. We collect fridge magnets and amazingly one of the hardest places to find any one of quality was Vietnam. We have covered our 20cft fridge and now are making other carriers for our basement. Such fun to look them over:)

Just don't get one of those fancy stainless steel models. Magnets won't stick to mine.

On one of our recent cruises we had not used all of our OBC and we received a letter in our stateroom reminding us that they need to be used by the end of the cruise. The suggestion to buy jewelry or something else from one of the boutiques is always a good way to use up the credit

Just off Insignia WC segment, and loved the free laundry perk. If you have extra hundreds to use up, consider the great laundry service if you don't have the free perk. You can pack far less and enjoy life aboard much more.

As to when you can get refundable credit, this was our experience. We received a letter stating that we had refundable credit which we could ask to be paid the day before our segment ended, which we did. My recollection is that the cards placed in our cabin at the beginning of our segment stated whether the OBC was refundable or nonrefundable. Hope this helps. Marlene

True - I am a magnet collector and bought a new fridge. They have all been relocated to the Metal File Cabinet in our home office but it is not the same.

Thinking of getting a magnetic board and framing it to hang.

Onboard Marina, long time cruisers with Oceania. Like other guests onboard, we have substantial shipboard credit and are required to spend this credit onboard. This credit cannot be used toward deposit for future cruise.

Three small shops onboard have very limited stock, (mostly jewellery, handbags and high end clothing) and are very over priced. Most guests are seniors and there is not any selection for grandchildren's gifts, beyond the little stuffed bear! They are out of stock of such basic items as toothpaste!

Given the onboard shop stiuation, Oceania should review and make exceptions by allowing ship board credit to be used as deposit for future cruises.

When doing a B to B can one carry forward the first cruise OBC to the next cruise ??? and add it to the second cruise ????

I feel for you Kathy, since I have witnessed you collecting fridge magnets. Our fridge here in Toronto is also non-magnetic--I have stuff on the sides, but you're right, it's not the same.

We are on Riviera next month as a chartered incentive trip.Everything is paid for and we have a large shipboard credit.Has anyone used their credit in the casino? We were given a concierge A2 cabin which seems to be very nice.Does that include anything special. All responses are appreciated.

You cannot use OBC for the casino. You can use it for alcohol, gift shop, spa, excursions , priced Privee Restaurant, or La Reserve Restaurant, or if refundable, take it home. Concierge class (A cabins) includes hot room service breakfast (as opposed to continental choices in lower cabins), and early specialty restaurant reservations and concierge class lounge access. The lounge is an inside room that has coffee, pastries, soft drinks, TV, PC's, and couches, and is staffed at certain times with a concierge.

We are first time Oceania cruisers, but not new to cruising. We have $800 OBC. We will use some if it to pay for our gratuities, a bottle or three of wine and whatever's left we....or should that be I?, will spend it in the jewellery shop. :D

Does Oceania allow OBC to be used for gratuities ? Thanks!

But I do not think you can use it to give extra gratuities. Tried to give over and above to our butler and was told could not give from non refundable gratuities.

Believe you can use the OBC in the Casino. You do pay I think 5% but, you can buy chips, pay the 5% and then cash the chips in. 95% of your OBC is better than wasting all of it on overpriced stuff.

No, haven't been on Oceania but, pretty sure about the buying chips for the 5%. Anyone with more recent data is welcome to post if I am incorrect.

I tried that last cruise. Although the day after I used it in the casino, it showed as a credit on my statement, they later ADDED the amount back. You cannot use this in the casino. I had in the past on other lines been able to do this but was unable to on Oceania.
