grad201182 Posted June 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2015 My questions are: Do they give out Lanyards or do we need to bring some (I have some from Disney so I wont have to buy some). Is the soda package worth the money or should I buy a drink when I want one. Is soda free at dinner or do I have to buy it. (included on Disney) Johnny Rockets--do we pay for the food extra or does it come included Do we need to bring cash for the Casinos Thank you its our first cruise on Royal---Liberty of the Seas (Dec 2015)

Guest Services WILL punch a hole in your Seapass for you. No sodas included at anytime. If you drink over 2 a day, its best to buy the soda package. Sodas are +/- 2.50 a can. Johnny Rockets is 5.95 a person. Soda and shakes not included (although our waiter gave us free soda this last cruise) Yes, cash for the casino. :) Edited June 10, 2015 by ryano
Clarea Posted June 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2015 No lanyards are given. Soda is not free anytime. How many sodas will you drink in a day? Johnny Rockets is extra cost, $5.95 per person for food, milkshakes extra. You need cash for the casino.
grad201182 Posted June 10, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) thank you for the answers I will buy the soda package because I drink a lot of soda on vacation and we don't need to buy a lanyard and have the hole punch in it because we have our lanyards that we got from Disney and it comes with a zipped pouch. MrsPete Posted June 10, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Comments on drink package: - We prefer to bring a couple sodas from home; I occasionally like a Diet Coke with breakfast, and often the bar in the Windjammer isn't open yet. You can have a whole 12-pack of brought-from-home soda for the cost of one can onboard. - Note that the soda package gives you only fountain sodas, and they often are a bit "off". - If you buy a soda at the pool bar or another bar, you get one soda; whereas, if you buy a soda in the dining room, you do get free refills. I don't want to wear a lanyard myself, but if you want a lanyard with a "plastic pocket" like the one Grad shows above, you can buy the pocket at Walmart for $1. It's in the sporting goods department and is sold as a fishing license protector. Yes, you can buy them at office supply stores too, but maybe not one at a time. We always bring rolls of nickels for the casino. We only play the nickel slots.
LilBlackDress Posted June 10, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Lanyards are not provided, because it makes you look like a conventioneer.....how do you carry your room key in a hotel? Do the same on a ship! I don't carry a purse, I don't normally have anything in pockets in it, I carry a cellphone w/credit card case and my keys are on a wristlet lanyard. So with that said, I like to have the lanyard either around my neck or on my wrist... why must you alway try and put others down? To the OP sorry for the hijack, CB just frustrates me sometimes! Do the same on a ship! I like the lanyards because that way you wont lose your card. Its my question and the first two replies answered my questions so please if you don't have any help for me please don't reply. This isn't my first cruise its my first on RCL. And guess what Lanyards are provided on a certain line as you can tell from my picture (Only first time cruisers don't get one)
tserface Posted June 10, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 10, 2015 I don't prefer using a lanyard either even though we've won a few at trivia contests. I just don't like it around my neck so I keep my card, and sometimes DW's in my pocket. There have been a few times where the card almost fell out of my pocket... so far no losses. That said, I can't tell you how many times someone wearing a lanyard has helped me remember their name without asking again. The names on the Seapass cards are small, but they can be read if you're talking and it's kind of handy. I wish everyone wore name tags of some sort. Agree - often negative from CB! I use my lanyard because I am using the card all day long, not just to get in my room like in a hotel.
Cruzin-K Posted June 10, 2015 #14 Share Posted June 10, 2015 If I was staying in a hotel, the room key would be in my purse. I usually have my sea pass card on a lanyard because I don't carry a purse around with me all day on the ship  I got my first RCI lanyard by earning "shipshape dollars" for participating in fitness activities on board. Oh, how I miss that program :(
Iluvjo Posted June 10, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 10, 2015 We have several lanyards from the adventure ocean. Never really thought about them though. You might be able to politely ask Adventure Ocean on your first day and they might give you a couple. I also remember that there was a station in the promenade that was signing up. Last cruise they were on a table and you grab whatever wanted. I grabbed two both for our girls, and they never wore them. However, they are yellow with A.D. ocean written all over them. On first cruise I bought a credit card holder from a local dive shop similar to the one in the link and use it when ever we leave the ship to avoid pick pockets. http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Card-Holder-Case-Submersible/dp/B00LGBJ09E Hope this helps. Doug S Posted June 11, 2015 #21 Share Posted June 11, 2015 I like putting mine on a lanyard, and wife does not. I use one from my favorite college team and its often a conversation starter. I like the better ones where you can easily unsnap from the cord to put in lock or hand to bartender. I don't always wear it, but makes it easier to find and pull out of beach bag or pocket, and makes it easy for wife to see in the morning and take to grab me a soda. She's the early riser. Could care less if some keyboard fashionista sees me as a conventioneer. Its not like I'm wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts into the MDR. Beachiekeen Posted June 11, 2015 #24 Share Posted June 11, 2015 Sorry to hijack but I will be on Liberty in February. Does the spa offer day passes? Can we use the sauna and/or showers for free? On my first cruise, I saw a lot of girls wearing sparkly lanyards and I thought they were so cute! Enjoy your cruise OP and be sure to write a trip report! :)
