This past year I was signature and got the free WiFi for the cruise.  We will be sailing through the March deadline this year from March 29 through April 7. Wonder if I will receive the free WiFi for only the 3 days?  I will not be signature next year since I only have 9700 points and will not get the needed points on this next cruise.    Guess I will find out since the program is new and it probably hasn’t happened to anyone yet. Might not get it at all since it is so close to cut off date.

That will be interesting to see....no idea what they might do.  Good luck !

We just came off the Serenade and one of our cruising friends is sailing on March 30th and asked the host if the points from that cruise will count in this Prime year based on cruise starting date or for next year since the cruise ends after April 1st.  She was told they count for the prime year when the cruise sails (this year).  If that thinking is correct, I would think you would get the wifi for the entire cruise since is starts this "plan year" and you are Signature.

Thank you for responding. It does sound reasonable that it would be considered that way.  I don’t have to have the WiFi, but it was nice to have.  I did without it in January on a 14 day Carnival cruise to Hawaii. Of course I was able to catch up in Hawaii.

I was told the opposite.  I sail march 31st and because the cruise ends after April 1st, the points earned on this  cruise  would be for the next cycle which would begin April April 1st 2020-march 31st 2021

Oh well, I guess I will find out next month. I should at least get 3 days free.  Lol

Typical of RCL.  One rep or host says one thing and another rep says the opposite.  That's why we always say if you don't like the answer you get, just call back and speak with another agent. :classic_angry:

Off Topic

But know there will be a few winners here😉

Has anyone had any joy with getting their 2018 Win/Loss statement from CR?

I filled out an online request back in December and been bounced around on the phone by CR.

said they would email confirmation of our request to another department as CR does not deal with them.

I remember last year having to wait a long time also

CR very quick to issue W-2G’s but oh soooo slow to mail out W/L statements.

The 2 major land casinos we frequent, with arguably many more patrons issued our statements within 15minutes of requesting them.

Any feedback w.r.t Win/Loss statements from CR appreciated.

TIA

Happy Days!

Thanks

Was it via snail mail or email?

and if you don’t  mind me asking, how long ago did you submit your requesr.

TIA

It came as an attachment to an email.  I submitted my request shortly after the new year so probably around Jan 10....something like that....

I got mine yesterday, but I had to resubmit the request as they now require the request to be notarized - although it wasn't required when I put my original request in.

Thanks for info

not getting a good feeling on this one,

how can they expect you to submit a notarized request for a form needed to file your taxes. It is a request for them to give you paperwork

the online procedure has nowhere that a notary could sign or even stamp. So confused on that matter.

i understand once I have the document in my hand, then can be notorized by someone legally allowed who knows me and can sign and stamp it.

if needed to be notarized.

i have numerous win loss statements from land casinos and there are no notary required on any of those.

It makes no sense to me either - when you go to download the form now, though - it's changed and includes the directions for it to be notarized.

i resubmitted it and in the special instructions included that I originally filed in early December - I got the tax form yesterday, less than a week after I submitted the revised form.

If I remember correctly, losses are not deductible from wins for this years taxes.  So what is the reason for even requesting the form?

For 2018 filing I can write of my winnings as my losses were more.

Have done ever since cruiselines started issuing W-2G’s

and have always been rewarded when filing

YMMV

For clarification

As I have 5 W-2G’s from Royal and I am itemizing my deductions for 2018 filing, my losses are tax deductible.

I also spoke to my accountant and he confirmed for 2018 losses are tax deductible

Gambling losses are indeed tax deductible, but only to the extent of your winnings. This requires you to report all the money you win as taxable income on your return. However, the deduction for your losses is only available if you itemize your deductions.

Win/loss: I think the fine print was Jan 31 for submission. I got the form notarized and emailed in to Royal Jan 31. I had email with Win/Loss attached a week later.

The cruise Critic computer glitch has hit again. Last email for new forum posts I received Jan 29. I am having to go to each forum group now to see what is new. No emails. Just like the old system.

Anyone else having this problem ?
