OTownNick Posted September 20, 2017 #1176 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Were you able to use your certificate on a comped cruise? I wasn't able to use the certificate (very recently) They can't (new rules) even apply it to an upgrade on a suite. It sounds like they may be running both Blue chip and RCCL the same. I also lost my regular rep. She left the company. :( You must have had Tammy Pfaff. She was my designated rep and she's gone. She was really really good to me. OTownNick Posted September 20, 2017 #1177 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Has anyone used a certificate lately ? I had a balcony certificate that I wanted to apply the 1,000 value to an already booked cruise. They are back at insisting that they have to reprice the Cruise to add a certificate - making the certificate worthless. I had no problems last week, yet two different operators insist that's always been the rules, when I called today - and I did call twice, since you always seem to get different answers when you call. I know they did that awhile back but backed it out - but now it appears to be back. What use is the certificate ? I have cruises booked thru 2019 and except for a few they have all gone up on price. I'm wondering if anyone else has recently used a certificate on an already booked cruise. They used to replace lower cert with a higher cert on an existing reservation but now they have to reprice it at reg RCI rates if you want to try to apply a larger cert. But they have told me the cert won't expire so maybe you can eventually apply it to a new booking. The other thing they're now doing is - if you MOVE a sailing , you lose whatever offer is on the reservation (if it's just an offer, not a certificate) AND reprice at reg RCI rates. So basically no more casino rates AND certificates in the same booking. Sad/ and the frequent cruisers like me who cruise up to 30 times a year get penalized
svillager Posted September 20, 2017 #1178 Share Posted September 20, 2017 I'm a heritage CR Vip, or was - anyway. I don't do 30 cruises a year but do about 11-12 - Currently I have 25 booked thru 2019 - as I book when the itineraries come out as I find them to be cheaper. I cruise solo and they eliminated the casino rates for solos about a year ago - (high diamond plus solo rates). So my only CR benefit was the certificate. Needless to say just about all of my booked cruises have gone up in price, (just C&A solo rates) and can't get repriced. Personally, I'm getting tired of being told one thing before I cruise - (I was told High certificates don't get repriced, and even had one applied the week before, without being repriced, and when I asked what I could do for another booked cruise - they said just call the following week with another certificate, Ha !) and then I come home to find out they changed the rules, or just plain lied the week before. I now dread calling CR as everything will just be a discourteous shrug of their shoulder. I'm also tired of them telling me that they don't care if I leave CR and go elsewhere ? Why are they there ? To attract players to other cruise lines. If so they are doing a good job. I've also had 2 instances recently where they messed up some of my bookings and had to go to outside Resolutions to get them corrected. I now just dread calling CR - it's become painful - and have to make sure that any changes they make are correct. Just venting, sorry - about to leave on another cruise and not looking forward to dealing with a certificate, if I decide to play. I only have a handful that haven't gone up in price - and once they are adjusted - I'm going to spend more time by the pool.

That's all I know. They haven't decided if I will get a replacement "designated rep". ellell Posted September 23, 2017 #1183 Share Posted September 23, 2017 I've never cruised RCI. But, on land based casino's they are more than willing to steal players from other casino's. We've been Caesars diamond members for number of years. Since the same holding company owns NCL, my wife are both "hot" Casino's @ Sea members. Based on our play, we get ocean view rooms for free, other than port fees and taxes. We upgrade to balcony for a small amount. Just wandering if RCI wants to try to steal us, hoe we'd find out? We'd be glad to try another line, as long as we don't have to pay full price for a cruise. Otherwise, why would we change? Urcomped.com is a online host that will help you match current offers with different casinos/cruise lines. The only catch is you must send them a copy of a current offer for matching. RFerrington Posted September 26, 2017 #1184 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Has anyone received an email offer for comp rooms on a list of upcoming sailings ? Our TA called and it is a legit offer. These are guarantee rooms and according to the TA once assigned you cannot change your room assignment. Also the TA said that we would get no C&A points for this cruise. I've never heard of a cruise where you get -0- points ! We probably won't do it b/c the airfare would be so high but there is 1 on Allure over Thanksgiving that is pretty tempting. maryjaden Posted September 27, 2017 #1185 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I also received the email. The offer has some good sailings, however my schedule won't allow the time.
Daghis Posted September 27, 2017 Author #1186 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I haven't received such an email. Although I'm disappointed, I can't afford the vacation time in addition to all the cruises I have booked already. I did receive "Your Official 2017 Royal Poker Tournament Invitation", though. I don't play poker, so this isn't for me whatsoever, but on top of that, the offer wasn't even that attractive. "You've been selected to receive casino rates on your choice of stateroom, invitation to enter the Royal Poker Tournament - $750 reduced entry fee, payable onboard." Rare John&LaLa Posted September 27, 2017 #1187 Share Posted September 27, 2017 Casino Host on Oasis wouldn't honor our MLife Platinum card. I guess the days of the MLife scam are over. Bummer Really doesn't make sense, all we were really getting was the 5% fee waived. I'm pretty sure we consistently lost more than that. ;p
maryjaden Posted September 27, 2017 #1188 Share Posted September 27, 2017 The sailings for the email were through the end of November. Perhaps sales have dropped a bit. I will try and post it.

RFerrington Posted September 27, 2017 #1191 Share Posted September 27, 2017 According to my TA, you can actually book multiple sailings with this deal. Wish I could take advantage of it but we've just got too many booked already.

Bronx12 Posted October 1, 2017 #1194 Share Posted October 1, 2017 (edited) So, I called Club Royale to book a transatlantic for April 2018. I have a $500 certificate that I wanted to use towards the cruise, but I was told that it expired. I was told on a previous call that I needed to book a cruise before October 5/17 in order to apply the certificate, today, I was told that it is null and void because I need to have actually cruised by that date, not just make a booking. So, I have a second certificate that I received in April 2017 that is for a free ocean view stateroom on certain cruises or $750 off a future cruise, great, so I thought. The agent I dealt with today said that the certificate is showing an interior stateroom or $500 off a future cruise, so, I had to send a picture of both sides of the certificate and wait for verification from the ship according to the agent, she also indicated that it might not be approved regardless of what I have in writing. I did book the cruise and got $500 and the price will be update if the certificate gets approved. I told the agent how disappointed I was in the Club Royale program, I told her I realize it isn't her, but they have to get things sorted out! I also asked what it takes to receive email offers from Club Royale, I told her that I hadn't received anything for months, and she indicated that I sailed with them last in April 2017, and I said yeah, that was only 5 months ago. She looked into my file and said the last offer I received was a Tiffany offer that I didn't take advantage of, so they probably just stopped sending emails for offers after that. She also said Club Royale uses Crown & Anchor information and that I should make sure the information is current and I told her I receive Royal Caribbean offers, I just haven't been receiving Club Royale offers. RFerrington Posted October 2, 2017 #1196 Share Posted October 2, 2017 We decided to go ahead and book the "free" cruise on Allure during Thanksgiving after all. We still don't have a room assignment but the certificate was exactly as advertised. All we paid were the taxes, port fees and gratuities - $413 total for both of us. Airfare will be over $1K but it's still a deal and 7 days of cruising for 3 vacation days so we're very happy. A friend of ours, who is also Club Royale is trying to go with us but it looks like he will not get the same offer so I guess this promo really is limited to only those who received the email. Who knows how they choose who gets the offers. I got it but my husband did not. Go figure.

My point was that not everyone (including my husband) received this offer and there just doesn't seem to be any process to explain who receives the offer and who does not. We are both going on my coupon.

Marc, it has been my experience that most (all ??) of the casino email offers are fairly lame. The single exception to this rule was the one that I just got for the comp cruises over the next several weeks. Most of these offers that come via email are terrible casino rates (compared to the rates I usually get) and aren't really very good offers at all. That's why I was so surprised (and skeptical) about the "free" cruise offer that came via email. I guess the hurricane drama has really caused a lot of cancellations and they had unfilled rooms they wanted to sell. I still don't understand how they choose to whom the offers go but maybe there is no real process. Maybe they just throw a dart.
