Algebralovr Posted June 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2015 The Lawn Club Grill went up as well. I think I saw Tuscan for $45, but now I can't get in. Crazy!
Mr. Click Posted June 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2015 I can't speak for Murano or the Tuscan Grill but the Lawn Club, Bistro on 5 were very very empty on our recent Baltic Cruise. Every day there were sales tables up by the Oceanview Cafe and the gangways pushing specialty dining. We enjoyed the food and the service in the MDR that we found no need to spend the extra on specialty dining.
mickey89 Posted June 25, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted June 25, 2015 I think I saw Tuscan for $45, but now I can't get in. Crazy! Celebrity website is a mess, I agree with you I saw Tuscan at $45pp on their web page then suddenly a message appeared - UNDER maintenance. Decided to phone Celebrity Enhancement desk and they said all on-line specialty restaurant prices have been raise $5pp

junetraveler2014 Posted June 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 25, 2015 Just did grocery shopping, regular ground beef 80%, now $4.99 a pound. Guess we are going to see a lot of increases coming our way. IMHO I would rather see individual increases for specialty products than having those increases in our fare.
Rare hcat Posted June 25, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 25, 2015 Supply and demand will result in special offers on bd.. we enjoyed lunch at Ocean Liners and Tuscan on Connie...special menu, reduced price Not sure if these offers are on all the ships...good value for us...we just wanted to try them but not spend a fortune! Btw...Tuscan on Connie was fabulous!

AtleeH Posted June 26, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Indeed it does. I found the MDR menus and food plenty good for me. I don't need specialty restaurants. I suppose if I were a great connoisseur of fine food, it might be different. Makes it all the easier to enjoy the MDR we've already paid for.

Rare ghstudio Posted June 26, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 26, 2015 This isn't a price increase...it's just removing the discount for purchasing a specialty meal prior to the cruise. The price on-line is now the same as the "list price" you would pay on board. I say "list price" because on our last 5 cruises we have been offered between 20 and 50% off "list" to dine in a specialty restaurant.
kevinyork Posted June 26, 2015 #16 Share Posted June 26, 2015 We are back on Eclipse this Saturday. This will be our 4th ex UK Eclipse sailing. On the previous 3 the speciality restaurants were very quiet, in fact our one outing to Tuscan Grill was soul less it was so empty. Not sure if this is related to UK passengers generally not liking paying more on top of their cruise fare for food when they think they have already paid for meals in their cruise fare. The British line P&O have much lower fees for their specialisty restaurants. They have an Indian restaurant developed by a Michelin star winning chef which is just £15 (to eat in his London restaurant would cost nearer £100). I really dont understand Xs pricing. If something isnt selling put the price up? Also the constant pushing of the restaurants is pretty annoying onboard and seems to get more persistent. DYKWIA Posted June 26, 2015 #17 Share Posted June 26, 2015 In the excellent review of the recent Eclipse TA (total eclipse..) on this forum the OP in post #385 has recently posted menus of the new Gastrobar showing up to a 50% increase prices for large plates and 100i% increase in small plates price between the original menu (from Equinox ?) and that on Eclipse. $8 fries ( ok truffle fries) that's more than Gordon Ramsey charges at the Savoy Grill! UniPac Posted June 26, 2015 #18 Share Posted June 26, 2015 What about the Specialty Dinner Pkgs? Did they get up also? $99 for the 3 dinner, $149 for the 5 dinner package at the moment.
Beanb41 Posted June 26, 2015 #19 Share Posted June 26, 2015 If no one uses them because of the price increases then I guess one can expect a lot of half price specials once the cruise starts. The price increase for Bistro on 5 is the one that surprises me. It would be the most under used restaurant on the S Class ships. Increasing the cost will only compound the problem

Increasing the cost will only compound the problem We were aboard Equinox very recently, so speaking with knowledge. The Bistro on 5 was extremely busy, most days it was full between 1pm -3pm. The increase popularity is probably due to people having so much OBC with all the incentives being offered by Celebrity and Travel Agents . Looking at the website and the Dining flyer (http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/11024491_CEL_SpecialtyDiningPck_Flyer2.pdf) it does appear that the price of specialty dining has also gone up. I suppose it makes sense that if individual pricing goes up that pacakage pricing would too. The Ultimate package appears to have stayed at 29.00/pp/day. rnrcruzin Posted June 26, 2015 #22 Share Posted June 26, 2015 In a smart marketing ploy, Celebrity will be moving Bistro on Five to the 10th deck and changing the name to Bistro on 10. There will be a $10 cover charge. The new location will be in an elevator lobby to handle the anticipated increase in customers. The old space occupied by BoF will be changed into a specialty restaurant for inside cabin passengers only. It will be called “The In Crowd.” All the windows will be removed of course.
