Rare kazu Posted July 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Oh dear, I really didn't want to start a thread again, and I don't want to be a PITA but we are confused. At long last Oceania added the unlimited internet to our sailing (I don't know why but it has been skipped for months). I emailed my TA and she already had it in place along with the small OBC - YAY:) So, my friend who is also travelling on the same cruise was told no and if they want to do that here is the pricing (basically the standard pricing available now) We used different TA's. We both booked in July last year, early booking, both in PH and same category. So, why do we have two different results? Her TA claims he went to the top. Mine had it in place and I have a confirmation. Should she be looking elsewhere? or did I luck out? We can't figure it out.
Rare LHT28 Posted July 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Was it a perk on the cruise when you booked or added later?
Rare PaulMCO Posted July 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Did you request the freebies at the same time. O will match only if the category you are in are still available. If not they most likely will not. I see some of the PH are in wait list.
Rare kazu Posted July 9, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Was it a perk on the cruise when you booked or added later? It just got added last Sunday/Monday I believe - at least that is the first time I saw it. I'm sorry but for whatever reason, multi quote didn't work, so, to answer the second question. Availability in our category is there on a guarantee basis. In fact the best suite just opened. Lots of availability on this sailing and if I had confidence in booking the larger suites in the position on the ship, I would have, but I have never been on so we are sticking with mid ship. It just doesn't make sense to me. why one can have it and another on not? Her TA claimed that he has gone to the VP. huh???
ChatKat in Ca. Posted July 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Different Travel Agents or their consortiums have different benefits for their clients. Some things are applied and some are not. For example, if My travel agent gives free gratuities but I also have a benefit from American Express for onboard credits - Oceania won't let me have both. It's like double dipping. I guess it comes down to TA's or their "pulls". Only difference is I did not take the air package and they did. Other than that, we had the same deal. Thought I would ask in case we were missing the boat somehow and sorry to ask a dumb question. Edited July 10, 2015 by kazu
Toranut97 Posted July 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Did you both sail on O the same number of voyages in the past? Still puzzling it out! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare ORV Posted July 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 10, 2015 This is not the first time this has come up. Many of us here have tried to tell people that some TA's have more pull than others. Lot's of folks enjoy their rebates and OBC's, then want to whine when they can't get perks added or a price reduction.
ChatKat in Ca. Posted July 10, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Travel agents have different contracts with the cruiselines as to benefits available. Her agent may not have the same benefits yours has based on booking volume
Rare LHT28 Posted July 10, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 10, 2015 I think you have a better TA If the perk was just added to the cruise & your Cabin Cat was the same & still available then you both should get the new added perks Now as PAULMCO said if your friends Cat is not still available they will not get the new perks OR their TA just fluffing them off ;) The perks were added as an incentive on their "Last Call Offers" so all TA's should be allowed to get their clients the added perks IF the same Cat is still available Crazy rules I know

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Both of us are new on O. We have lots of cruises under our belt, but this is our first O cruise. This is not the first time this has come up. Lot's of folks enjoy their rebates and OBC's, then want to whine when they can't get perks added or a price reduction. thanks. I didn't see that either of us got a lot different other than I rejected the air and took the credit. My TA is an O specialist thanks to a CC member on the boards. I love my TA for HAl but O is not her specialty so we took a chance. I guess I got really good advice. thank you Catherine :) so appreciated. tropicalkerry2002 Posted July 10, 2015 #14 Share Posted July 10, 2015 But is a category REALLY available if you can only book a guarantee? You MAY end up with an upgrade if nothing opens up in the Guaranteed cabin...

I just mentioned the guarantee to answer the availability question. If there was no availability, I would have thought it would say Wait List? tropicalkerry2002 Posted July 10, 2015 #16 Share Posted July 10, 2015 I understand, but if it is listed as Guarantee NOW, is it truly available? I understand they will take a certain number of Guarantees, and then it becomes Wait List, but still, there are no cabins available right NOW, and Oceania still hopes to get the Guarantees they have thus far into that category. Hoping someone with more knowledge than I can answer this!

WpgCruise Posted July 10, 2015 #18 Share Posted July 10, 2015 What is being provided is speculation and opinions, neither of which may be correct. Given the O.P. has the benefit, and the friend does not, if it were me (and it's not) I'd send both confirmations and all information to the T.A. and ask for clarification. That way the T.A. who provided the benefit would be able to say how it was done, and hopefully some guidance provided to the friend. Everything else we're reading here is well intentioned I'm sure but does nothing to resolve the issue.

Inconsistency. I agree with you. By the way, I noticed you were doing the Malt Shop cruise on the Eurodam in October. If you would like the HAL board to wish you Bon Voyage (it's done one week before sailing) just post here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2232611 and I would be delighted to add you to the Future Cruise Listing. Rare kazu Posted July 10, 2015 Author #24 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Thanks it is OK we are just doing the cruise on HAL for the Music :D enjoy the music :) and the Tamarind Restaurant ;) It was quite decent last time I tried it but I confess it's been a while. We've spent a lot of our time on the Prinsendam - the Grand Damme of the fleet (and not built by HAL :) but by a luxury line :) )
