Going to Amsterdam.........

Ine, if you are still reading this thread......I was wanting to do the Culinary

excursion I mentioned earlier but it looks like that may not happen.

So, Instead of doing a tour, do you know if the Van Gogh Museum, The

Jewish Museum and Portuguese Synagogue are within walking distance

of The Banks Mansion? I may just decide to find somewhere to eat

lunch, see these 3 places and then find somewhere to eat dinner near

the hotel too.

Lois, this tour might work for you. I am leaving April 17 for Amsterdam so will be interested in your cruise feedback. Anne

Hi Anne,:) that looks really good but to be honest with you, I am looking

for something a little later (time wise). My flight is supposed to arrive at

8am and who knows if it will be on time.....and even if it is on time, I

don't know the process of luggage, customs and getting a cab and I

really don't want to have rush/worry about making a 10:00 tour.

But thanks for the link:)

Oh....I just read on the website they don't do tours on Wednesday's so

I could not book it anyway. I arrive on a Wednesday morning.

Oh my....I keep finding things on their website.......they are doing an afternoon

tour on Wednesday. I may email them about it:)...it is about current Amsterdam,

no museums or anything........I will have to decide what I want to do.

lobster129, I'll be cruising from Amsterdam in Aug 2017 as well. :)

I saw that, but your cruise follows ours. You are welcomed to hop over too our roll call as I have created a website for us. I am still making daily additions, but you will find the link in my signature on the roll call.

It's definitely not too soon to begin planning this trip. I at least want to determine what we want to do in AMS, so I can select a hotel that makes sense for proximity and travel needs.

Hi Becky! Good to see you! What cruise are you taking? Any Irish River Dancing on the schedule? Lol.

We sail next year from AMS & around British Isles on Silhouette. This time with my DH, but there are other things to do in Dublin that I think he may enjoy more. I have recommended the Irish Dancing experience to several people since we did it. It was a great choice for a family!

Hi Lisa, I emailed Hungry Birds again and they still need one more person

to make a tour minimum:eek::(. I fly out a week from Tuesday. I am going

to give it a few more days and if they don't have the amount of people

needed I am going to do something else.

Hi Lois,

Try this one...

I'm excited because we've got concert tickets for a concert at the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam one night of our pre-cruise stay.

I understand that there is a restaurant as part of the Concertgebouw complex in the Mirror Hall. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this or if you can recommend a restaurant in the area.

Lisa, I clicked on Google Maps to see the starting point of the tour and

it looks so easy:D....I put my hotel in there too and it is about 1/2 mile

walk and the company gives a picture of where to meet too:D....

Should be fun!!

Can any one tell me how much it will cost from AMS airport to PTA (passenger terminal Amsterdam)? Thanks! We are a group of 4 and need a van to the PTA from the airport. I hope that van taxi can be found at the airport. Thanks!

Check this website: http://www.schiphol.nl/Travellers/ToFromSchiphol/SchipholTravelTaxi.htm

By putting in the zipcode 1019BR 27 it will tell you the cost. You can prebook on this side or simply take a cab from the airport. Yes there will be some vans, but it might involve some waiting.

Hi! I didn't realize it either!! I think we'll book the Jordaan Food Tour for the Thursday we're there too. Let me know how your trip is!

Hi Lisa,

Lucky we booked this tour early since the June 2 date is full already. That means we will definitely be doing the canal portion of the tour too.

Just an FYI - we got an email about the Jordaan Food tour this morning - it is going to be from 10:30-2:30 instead of 11-3:00 like advertised. Not sure why or if that happens often. That is fine with us but I suppose it could affect other people's plans.

That's interesting. We are booked for Anne Frank House at 9:00, so I would be afraid if they changed it for us that we wouldn't have enough time. I'm thinking I may go with Hungry Birds like Lois did. I'm sure she'll report back!

Have a great trip, Kristi.

We are hoping to do the Anne Frank house right after the food tour - still waiting for those times to open. I think the 2 places aren't far from each other.

Hungry Birds sounds great too -

Enjoy your trip too, Lisa!

I booked the Eating Amsterdam Tour for Saturday June 4 at 11 am and within a few days they emailed me to change the time to 10:30 am. Fortunately it still works with my schedule.
