Will keep you posted! Agreed, but we have had many 'phone conversations with Tanji [in a different role - calls initiated by Celebrity] so I would expect guests in the UK to be included. I also had a 'phone call a couple of months ago [post-cruise] by someone from Celebrity US which ended with the person saying: "I am ......., if you need a concierge in future, please contact me". kk99 Posted August 11, 2015 #53 Share Posted August 11, 2015 Currently onboard Summit now and all of our precruise reservations for Luminae, specialty restaurants, spa appointments, room setups all done correctly per the requests of my cabin and some of the other Suite cabins(we have 18 people onboard). Tanji, who is the shoreside concierge for Summit was great to deal with. She dealt directly with the restaurant, spa, guest relations dept. I confirmed with the Michael's Club concierge on this sailing who is Kimberley Reed that it is the system in place for all ships with a different shoreside concierge assigned to each ship. It leaves the Michael's Club concierge more time to help the guests on the sailing and make the experience even more enjoyable. I give the new system a solid A. If you have a sailing and you are in a CS or higher cabin and have not heard from the shoreside concierge two weeks before your cruise, call or send them an email with any requests. I'm sailing PH on August 30th, made my final payment ages ago, and have yet to receive a call. The advantage of the advance contact with the Concierge [for the things the butler would do] is that everything can be set up in advance. Our butler and stateroom attendant were so pleased on our latest cruise that they could show us our suite set up just as we would like. It makes their life easier too. What you would use the Concierge for on board is primarily the niggly little things that you would have needed to queue at Guest Relations for in the past such as [but not limited to] account queries. Items such as restaurant, and other, bookings can be made on board by either your butler or the Concierge. The advantage of using the Concierge [if you happen to be in Michael's Club at the time] is that he/she can bring up the information on their computer screen and make the reservation there and then whereas the butler has to telephone. Otherwise, it does not matter who does the booking because they consult each other [and the Luminae hostess] to ensure that they all know your plans. Getting the information up on the screen is useful if you was to know if a certain type of activity is planned [e.g. a cooking class]. The Concierge can show you all the details so that you can make your decision. Your butler will know what is usually done but on, say, a repositioning cruise there may not be a "normal". The one thing I found annoying was that the Concierge would ring us to remind us that we had something booked. But, then, I hate it when the hospital, and others, do that at home. If there is any problem at embarkation or disembarking the ship at any port, not only do you get priority but the Concierge will escort you off the ship [often via a different route] to ensure that you have a smooth passage. She was so helpful - really made us feel welcome. Has anyone ever asked for something that may not already be on board? We requested the usual - extra hangers and bar preferences.
