You need to leave at least 4 hours between your scheduled arrival and flight time. Even if you arrive at 5AM you probably still can't make a 9:30AM flight.

But this is WAY too close for my comfort zone

 

a 9:30 flight starts boarding at 9 .... off the boat at 8 ... 30 minutes to get to the airport leaves 30 minutes to get thru security and get to your gate assuming you don't need to check bags.

 

MIA can be a total zoo as can traffic getting to the airport (day of the week matters here big time) 30 minutes means no traffic jam getting there. If it is work day .. forgetaboutit

 

I've flown from Miami a lot and that is not something I'd try on purpose. I always shoot for arriving at the airport TWO HOURS before the flight.
