Beanb41 Posted December 14, 2015 #26 Share Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) A couple of days into your cruise you will get a "how are we doing card?" to drop off at Customer relations. We found that if you have some concerns that your room steward is unable or unwilling to complete fill out the card with your concern and before dropping it off to Guest relations leave it out so your steward can find it. A negative report is very damaging to their future. Our experience that the issue will quickly get solved and without the need to notify Guest relations. wink wink nod nod. You can bring unlimited water and soft drinks (soda) on board at any time. This is relevant if one doesn't have a drinks package when a bottle of water and can of coke are around $US3 each when purchased on board. mrsgoggins Posted December 14, 2015 #29 Share Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) In my experience on my 3 Celebrity cruises, about half way through the cruise, discounts to speciality restaurant discounts seem to be offered to everyone. It, of course, depends if the restaurants are not full, which seems quite often. We 'negotiated' with the guy sitting outside the restaurant taking bookings on the final night of our last cruise - and then got him to include a free glass of wine each in addition to the discount :). All done with good humour by the way. In the event, the restaurant (Ocean Liners) was not even half-full by the time we left. It was good though. Grandmaanne7 Posted December 14, 2015 #30 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Some really great information thanks. Could you explain what Chef's Table is please, also what treats are there at Cafe al Bacio. Not sure on Chef's Table but treats at Café al Bacio mostly changed daily. Little biscotti that accompanied coffee drinks were quite good. I've heard differing opinions on all other offerings. Never been hungry enough to give them a shot myself although it is a goal for my next cruise. 😊 Certainly everything looks delicious! villauk Posted December 14, 2015 #31 Share Posted December 14, 2015 also what treats are there at Cafe al Bacio. Our kids love the apple turnovers they serve in the mornings :). OP, You are able to obtain lattes, cappuccinos etc. in the MDR during dinner if you are on a classic/premium beverage package - just ask your waiter - much more palatable than X's standard coffee offering :D. The cakes in Al Bacio are wonderful and change daily. We occasionally skipped dessert in the MDR and chose to relax there with a slice of cake and coffee. On several different ships we have found the Cafe al Bacio servers to be extremely efficient and friendly. Unfortunately it is often very busy and seats are taken up by people reding or napping. The standard coffee has improved greatly since Celebrity began using real ground coffee instead of syrup. it has gone from being undrinkable to quite palatable (in my opinion). Gracie115 Posted December 14, 2015 #33 Share Posted December 14, 2015 I went to link for the Assist Card and try to get a quote - could not find America or United States listed....does anyone know if I am missing something? Would love to see how much they would charge me for this. Same here............Is this only something for other countries and not the US?? me either.....is that not eligible for US citizens? yorky Posted December 14, 2015 #34 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Thanks to both of you. I had no idea and was certainly not willing to spend $50/pp. I have been spoiled by Princess' specialty restaurants (especially Crowne Grill) at $25. Just off Eclipse and we got 50% off nearly every meal. Murano when boarding, outside Oceanview cafe, or just head to a restaurant and ask. They accepted our requests. rockdoctor Posted December 14, 2015 #36 Share Posted December 14, 2015 This discount business must be cruise dependent. On our Oct cruise on the Equinox, it was impossible to get a full price reservation at Tuscan Grill or Murano on a sea day. The only way we got a reservation on a port day was to ask the maitre d' at Luminae get it for us.
CruiseLurker Posted December 14, 2015 #37 Share Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) I can answer a couple questions: Choice Air:http://www.celebritycruises.com/htmlpage/celebrity-choiceair Host Andy used to have a sticker about choice air. You might use search. Chef's Table: is a special meal prepared by the Chef, if there is enough interest. The cost is pretty substantial, I think around $ 300 a couple. The Chef prepares a nice meal paired with wines. Located at one of a few locations. If you are interested you need to inquire early in your cruise to see if there is enough interest. Around 12 passengers. We done it a couple times and it was really nice. I learned here(C.C.) that if you turn down the cookbook, you save a some money. Pillow Menu: If you look hard in the blue book in your stateroom, there maybe a menu of pillows that you can choose from. Body pillow, down pillow, hypo-allergenic, etc Ask your steward. CruiseLurker Posted December 14, 2015 #38 Share Posted December 14, 2015 I called the Cruise assist company: Seems to be mainly for non-US residents. BUT US residents are routed to a different phone number: 866-477-6741 option 2 Star travel insurance?? I didn't bother to follow through all the way. SanMarc Posted December 14, 2015 #39 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Chefs Table, finally I get to answer a question!! It was an amazing experience hands down, bar none. We were lucky enough to board the ship fairly early which gave us time to roam and check out the specialty restaurants. Each one was closed but had a staff member talking about the menus and making reservations. We stopped by Murano and as we were talking about truffles and which night they would be featured we were asked if we'd like to attend the Chef's Table. As foodies we jumped at the chance and a had OBC available to use. It was priced appropriately in our eyes as it began with the following: Pre drinks in Cellar Masters with discussion by the Sommelier and we were whisked to a private galley tour with the Executive Chef. Watching what truly goes on during service and space they work was eye opening. After our tour we were joined by the Executive Chef and Celebrity Officers for a tasting menu at Murano in a private room complete with wine pairing. For the foodies it is a once in a lifetime event, I hope this helps
yorky Posted December 14, 2015 #40 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Nice! Did you specifically ask for 50% off, or just ask for a discount? We were offered 50% both when boarding and out the cafe. We went in person to Tuscan grill and asked for 50% off and they were fine with that. You can only ask because last night they would not give half price but offered a third off at Tuscan Grill which we accepted.
jenniebnyc Posted December 14, 2015 #41 Share Posted December 14, 2015 If you eat in Qsine and are too full, you can come back later...or the next night (pending availability) to have dessert. Or, they will wrap up dessert and send to your cabin! If you want grilled salmon (not marinated in all that salty stuff) from AquaSpa everyday at lunch, just ask the manager nicely. They have always obliged! I am allergic to soy, so the marinated stuff was not an option for me. They made salmon available everyday with salt, pepper, lemon and olive oil! If you have a suite and want to have a party, just ask the butler. They usually put together a beautiful spread of cheese, shrimp cocktail, crudite, etc. AND also gave us extra bottles of wine and sparkling wine that I assume are left behind by non-alcoholic drinkers. It's complimentary and a fun way to entertain while cruising if you are travling with family and friends or meet new people on the ship. If you want something special from room service, hand write it in on the card. If you ask, you will usually get. (caviar and lobster not included) :)
suec12 Posted December 14, 2015 #42 Share Posted December 14, 2015 The escargot and the French onion soup on the menu (is it still called the "everyday menu"?) are both wonderful and can practically make a meal if nothing else appeals.

Mynki Posted December 14, 2015 #44 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Can't manage desert in Luminae? The Maitre d' will send it to your room to enjoy later. Wish the luminae burger came with different toppings such as bacon and blue cheese? Just ask them to make it 'your way' and they will of course.
