Favorite Cruise Line/Least Favorite Cruise Line.

I enjoyed the Getaway as well and we were in a suite and I thought service was terrific all over the ship, not just in The Haven.

As to the original question, I think my favorite cruise line ever was Uniworld - we did "Castles Along the Rhine" and except for cocktails, it was the most all inclusive experience we've had so far on water. They even included wine with dinner. Oh and about the food, YUM!, matched 100% to the area in which we were cruising and visiting! Delicious! I've always thought on Med cruises it was kind of goofy to be touring Rome all day and then go back to the ship to have Chinese Food or sushi or French food. The tours (except for 3 half day tours) were all included as well and they were GREAT! Anyway, the river cruise was so relaxing and carefree and we just had a wonderful time. I would do it again in a heartbeat and hope to do the Danube soon.

As to worst, we went on HAL and were literally the youngest on the ship. We liked our suite - it was great, but the food and entertainment left much to be desired and the ambiance on the ship felt more like being in a nursing home with all the wheelchairs and scooters onboard and also the people napping in the public lounges and library. As a result, we spent more time in our suite on that cruise than on any other as it didn't feel comfortable to be in a public space where so many were sleeping, concerned that if you talked you might wake them up. I think if we had been over 75, we might have liked HAL better, but probably not.

We've only been on one Uniworld cruise (Budapest to Amsterdam last August) and it was definitely first class, but you certainly pay for that! We liked it so much we're doing Grand France (Paris to Normandy and return then Lyon to Marseille) next summer. But for the price we're paying we could go on multiple cruises on Princess, HAL, Celebrity, etc.

Aquahound, I respect all the information you provide the boards, so I'll give it a try. O really isn't that stuffy. They have wonderful itineraries around the world, with many point to point. It really works for someone like me, that after a busy port day, wants a very nice dinner and maybe some ambient music in venues around the ship. Actually, I value not having set dining and the fact that we can usually get nice uncrowded table for two. It's not we're antisocial, we've struck up many wonderful conversations with many fellow O cruisers that have given us many pointers.

If you ever give them a try...start with a short point to point in Europe, with great end and start cities and some great minor ports each day...with long port times that give you enough time to comfortably see them. Come back to the ship for a nice dinner...rinse and repeat each day.:)

Thank you. :) Your description is much more appealing. When it comes to cruise lines not tried and are unfamiliar, other people's descriptions go along way with me because I can relate them to what I like and dislike about a cruise. The previous O description in this thread came across very snooty and unappealing to me.

I think you can find snooty people on any line ;)

SOOOOO many different tastes and needs....someone's most favorite is going to be someone else's least favorite, and vice versa.

Not excactly a scientific poll or anything. This post is fairly similar to half the rest of CC with it's opinion questions.

As a bonus, it's very entertaining for folks like me who are counting down 10 days to their very first cruise...and giving me insight into where i'm going next.
