Rare WesW Posted February 2, 2016 #78 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Glad (Spinnaker2, Mr. Silver) you are enjoying the pix. Yes, Victoria we really enjoyed the Capoiera excursion, sorry to hear about the security challenges in Natal. Guess because I was a jogger and a man, they did not warn me. We enjoyed another wonderful day in Brazil yesterday. Our port was Recife, known as the Venice of Brazil. Afternoon run (alas can’t share pix--for security reasons did not bring a camera) led to a surprising exploration of the old part of the city. Ran by beautiful buildings alongside the rivers that remind many who visit Recife of Europe. Please, enjoy a few pictures of our Silversea cruise friend who is on board the Spirit with us for our eight time, Alec, Ida and Wes. We enjoyed early entertainment last nite with Pablo Raya (Showtime Silversea singer) who performed Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin songs well. Ida and I then went to the pool deck for the evening BBQ’s entertainment and enjoyed an hour of dancing with Showtime Silversea performing hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Chef David Bilsand came over to us to say hello. Chef David performs his first cooking demonstration in about an hour. Ida wanted me to post a pix of her fabulous desert last nite (Cafe Cappuccino cake) and also there is a picture of us with Pable Raya. Today we have our Venetian party and Venetian Dinner. Wellseasoned (Dieter & Debbie) will be recognized for sailing 500 days with Silversea. WE are looking forward to sharing dinner with the Spirit’s Human Resources Manager, Christiane. Chistiane was the cruise consultant during our last Cloud crossing. Nice to see Silversea promoting deserving crew members already on the Silversea team. nowornever Posted February 3, 2016 #82 Share Posted February 3, 2016 of the wonderful photos & descriptions....I'm loving all of them. Before our Cloud cruise many years ago (or so it seems), I had never heard of Fortaleza so was completely shocked to see a city of that size. Looking forward to seeing it (as well as all the others...well, maybe most of the others) again. The food looks amazing and I'm sure it tastes as good as it looks! I understand that you are no longer allowed to smoke on the balconies? True? I love that...and it is the only thing I dislike about Seabourn. Please keep the photos & commentary coming...enjoying it all so very much.
Rare WesW Posted February 3, 2016 #83 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Thanks Nowornever and yes it is true, no smoking allowed on the balconies. Today we enjoyed the Brazilain port of Salvador De Bahia. The land of Happiness where the sun shines almost every day. Ida and explored Salvador on our own and encountered the Social Club of Salvador celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Samba. Please enjoy a few pix below. The social club members were exceptionally friendly as they invited Ida and I to dance with them in celebration of the Samba birthday. Please enjoy a few pix below. Tonight we are celebrating Wellseadsoned (Debbie's) birthday. They have arranged a special Phillipino dinner for EnglishUSA, Emtbsams, and Ida and I. Later in the evening will be a crew show at 11:30pm.

Rare WesW Posted February 4, 2016 #89 Share Posted February 4, 2016 Candy, will pass your warm born day regards along to Debbie--we're having dinner with the Wellseasoneds in La Terraza tonight. Swindy, will pass your high regards along to Dewa Putu. We're enjoying another relaxing seaday on board enroute to Buzios Brazil. Our destination specialist Niki whetted our appetite for Rio's Carnaval with an outstanding Carnaval presentation this morning. Cinco (Wellseasonds, Emtbsam's, EnglishUSA) are going for a triple today (three wins in a row) at trivia. Ida guessed correctly during the Boutique's contest to guess the carats for a large gem (42) and won a lovely strand of fresh water pearls. Thought this was neat, until she suggested they said a nice pendant would complement the pearls. We're soon off to more Ballroom dancing class, then Bingo for Ida and pm workout for me. Rare WesW Posted February 5, 2016 #92 Share Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) Victoria, yes 42 carats. Rosepark--pls see below. Last nite we had another delightful & delicious dinner in the Italian venue on board the Silversea Silver Spirit with our long time cruise friends Dr. Dieter and Debbie. Today, we are visiting Buzios Brazil. Please enjoy this beatiful Brazil resort made famous in the 1960's by a vacationing Bridget Bardot. The folks of Buzios love their beach time. And for Rosepark pls see a picture of another long time cruise friend David Kennedy--David wears a different themed t-shirt daily as his t-shirt reads--David loves his wine. Rare WesW Posted February 6, 2016 #93 Share Posted February 6, 2016 Last nite we enjoyed dancing and drinks in the Panorama lounge. Ronald, one of the waitstaff was kind enough to take this picture of us at Sunset. This morning was able to take a picture of the beautiful sunrise in Rio, and Ida enjoyed with other passengers our sail in to Rio with Sugarloaf and Christ the Reedemer statute in the backround. Today, we explored Rio and found our way to Ipanema. Since tonight is the second night of Carnival here in Rio, we passed numerous Carnival floats being prepared for presentation with their respective Samba school tonight. Wellseasoned Posted February 8, 2016 #98 Share Posted February 8, 2016 This is our third day in Rio, sailing this afternoon, Santos tomorrow. Sunny today, very hot and humid. There are some large ships docked here, including Celebrity Infinity, Holland America Maasdam, and The World, among others. The streets and beaches are alive and wild with Carnaval. And the roads are clogged with the associated traffic. We toured the major sites but skipped the late night Sambadrome parades. Instead, we watched the Super Bowl on line in the suite with friends. (That was also a late night event since it began here at 9:30 PM.) Here are a few photos to add to those Wes posted. Rare WesW Posted February 9, 2016 #99 Share Posted February 9, 2016 Great Rio Pix Dieter, thanks for sharing. Today, on board the Silversea Silver Spirit the Wellseasoneds, Ida and I visited the port of Santos, Brazil. Santos is the largest city on the Sao Paulo coast and the home of the largest container port in South America. The main attraction here, though, is the full 7km (4 1/2) coastline. Please, enjoy a few pictures of us in Santos below:
yogagal47 Posted February 9, 2016 #100 Share Posted February 9, 2016 So happy you are making the most of your Brazil experience! It is a special place with beautiful people! The coastline above Santos is just gorgeous! Did you get to the beach at all? The Sambadrome experience must have been amazing! Thanks for sharing.
