If we book a back to back cruise out of Fort Lauderdale with Princess, do we have to leave ship on switch over day? What happens to these passengers?

A quick search found lots of recent threads with this question.....

The first time we did b2b cruises, a mother-daughter pair delayed our immigration process by not showing up. The next time we did b2b cruises, we planned ahead--bringing along our travel Scrabble board to pass the time while we waited. We didn't get a chance to play. The procedure worked very quickly that time since everyone showed up on time.

Our last two b2b's we did not have to get off the ship. All passengers "in transit" and not getting off to tour FLL, assemble at a designated dining room with passport, cruise card and "in transit" card.

After the ship gets to zero (they beep you off with your card) it is up to immigration to either make you leave the ship to go down into the cruise port or they send an immigration officer to the dining room to zap your passport as you sit in dining room. Then a ship officer beeps your card as you leave the dining room. Now you do whatever you like!

Last year over 1200 did b2b so immigration came on board. This year only 279 did the b2b and again they came on board. You don't know until you are told in the dining room.

The time you wait depends on how long it takes to bring the ship to zero. When you hear passenger services paging people..you know you will be waiting.

On my last two b2bs I did not receive a new cruise card the second cruise, the first one had the dates for both cruises on it.

Yes, you will have to leave at a designated time to go through immigration and then wait to return to the ship once the ship is cleared. Ship cannot be cleared until the last passengers is off.

This is a USA immigration/customs requirement and all cruise ships are required to follow this procedure.
