Abbabug Posted February 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Hi everyone, First time cruiser on the Oasis on Mar 26th. Read that the luggage tags will be printed off with the cruise documents. Do I have to buy special luggage tag holders to slip these into? Any other way around this? I'm cheap :) We don't use luggage tags on our luggage. We mark them with coloured ribbons. No, you don't have to buy special luggage tag holders. If you follow the instruction on the tags, you can staple the tags to your luggage. Some clear packing tape will make the paper tags stronger. cb at sea Posted February 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2016 Or...just get real tags from the porters.....no muss, no fuss!
back-at-it Posted February 15, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) I have used the plastic holders, the clear packing tape and just stapled the paper tags on. I have never had a issue with them coming off. But just in case, I print several extra tags and stick them inside the suitcase on top of everything. That way if a tag was to come off and they opened the suitcase they would find the tag inside. paul929207 Posted February 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2016 We go one or more days early. When I am checking out of our hotel, I just borrow their stapler
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 15, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2016 We get plastic ones that you can put the tags in. They are even available at Cruise Critic but we get them from Amazon. Keith

Krazy Kruizers Posted February 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 15, 2016 When we had to start printing out own luggage tags quite a few years ago, I made my own plastic sleeves. I punched holes in them. When we are ready to leave the hotel, I attach them to our suitcases using a cable tie. I have used these same plastic sleeves for quite a few cruises. bar_20 Posted February 15, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 15, 2016 We have an inexpensive laminator. We laminate the paper tags, cut them to size and use a plastic tie to secure them to the luggage. http://smile.amazon.com/Scotch-Thermal-Laminator-Roller-TL901/dp/B0010JEJPC/ref=sr_1_3?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1455558981&sr=1-3&keywords=laminator
cruznbobo Posted February 15, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 15, 2016 You can take the tags and laminate them and they will be fine.
DebJ14 Posted February 15, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 15, 2016 Our travel agent gives us the plastic holders when she sends our documents. As for not using luggage tags because you are too cheap, then how do you put your name and address on each bag? I sure hope you do because if there is a problem it might make it easier to get them back to you. Airlines require it. It is also a good idea to put your name and address (business card) inside your luggage in case the luggage tags come off.

4x4bob Posted February 16, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 16, 2016 You really should rethink your plan of not putting a luggage tag with your name and address on the bag. And, a second copy inside. Our last trip we checked two bags. After changing planes in Alanta Ga, one bag came home with us and the other ended up in an airline wharehouse on the East coast. It took two more days for the airlines to fly it out to the West coast and deliver it to us. With out name tags we would not have gotten it back.
