Receiving Luggage Tags

Good Morning. I am trying to gauge a time frame for receiving my luggage tags. In the past I thought I had received them about 30-45 days ahead of my cruise. I do know that only suites receive luggage tags and am looking to see if anyone who is traveling soon remembers when they received their tags. I have called a few times and still nothing. I do know I can also print them but am really just looking to know about the ones that get mailed. So, please if anyone has a time frame they can share so I know if I should be worried about not receiving anything I would appreciate it. My cruise is in 24 days and I have not received anything pertaining to this cruise. I did check myncl to be sure everything was still there...

Thank you.

I got mine at 50 days along with the welcome letter. Have a great trip!

(mailed luggage tags are a Suite Perk) No big deal, paper sticky tags with your name and room number on them.

I may be wrong - so hopefully someone more the the know will come along shortly - but I do believe I read on here recently that they no longer mail the tags and you have to print them out yourself?

Thank you but I am looking for the time frame of the ones that do get mailed. If you are in a suite they do mail them to you. Unless that has changed too.

I'm so glad you asked this.

We are on the next sailing after yours....No tags yet!

Will you please come back and report when you learn something or finally receive them.

Maybe it's a Spirit thing?

Thanks

Mark

It seems the dates are within a time frame and could (I am guessing) also be when you booked and the NCL mailing queue. Our letter was dated 2/2/16 but the postal date was 2/10. We received about 6 weeks before we sailed. I can't remember the exact time frame from last year but it was around six weeks out.

Yes I will. I will also post it in your roll call. I am hoping it is just a Spirit issue. I will be calling them again today.

Funny thing is I booked over a year out. Every year I have received my tags usually 45 -30 days ahead. I got real worried. I know it may not mean a lot to most people but hey it is something I look forward to receiving. It makes the cruise that much closer and more fun for me to get ready. A child at heart and like the small things in life!

Thank you everyone for your responses. Seems that this year they are all over the place for times.

Thanks Norma,

We too booked a long while ago, I seem to remember the countdown clock being in the 500s.

I agree that the luggage tags are not really a "big thing". It is a milestone toward an upcoming cruise and signals the beginning of the end... of waiting...

I called NCL preconcierge to see if they knew anything. Very helpful. She said they were pending. She told me she sent an email to that department and they are in now in que to be sent out. I should have them within 10 business days. WHAT??? She did say that they would arrive about 14 days before my cruise. I figure if I do not have them by next Wednesday I will call again. That is all I know. Seems like some ships are getting them sooner then others. Which is fine as long as I receive them...

Thank you everyone.

We have sailed numerous times in Suites and Haven rooms (big ships, small ships). We have never noticed any difference in luggage delivery times with the priority tags. Have you had different experiences?

We are sailing on the Escape the week of April 16th and we received our luggage tags with our suite letter exactly 50 days out, on the 26th of February. The letter was dated February 19th and the postmark was February 23rd.

We have had trouble receiving these luggage tags in the past. At first they told me that when booking through a TA they get mailed to them instead, which is not true as we always book through the same TA. Recently, NCL told me that it has to do with when you complete your online check-in but I don't know if that is true or not. Since then, we try to complete our check-in and print our edocs as soon as possible, just in case it is a factor.

I have been told many other things by the NCL pre-concierge over the years with regards to luggage tags, mostly seeming like excuses. They told me once that they only mail out tags on Friday which doesn't seem to be true. A few cruises ago when we were on the Gem the sent us blank tags when we called instead of the suite tags. We were told on another occasion that the tags are printed and sent out by a 3rd party and that NCL cannot print new suite tags on demand. We have been told that they need a 14 day lead time to process tags. We were once told once that a computer glitch caused by NCL's change of room category lettering from SX to HX was responsible for tags not being sent. Overall, we probably get our tags about half the time, but we have received them about 7 weeks out with no issues or phone calls for two consecutive cruises now.

Thank you everyone. It is interesting to hear all the different times people receive them and what has been told to you all. I too was told the tags are sent out on Fridays. I was also asked about online check in. Well, I did our check in long before final payment was even due. So we know it has nothing to do with that. This is the first time ever and I have been cruising with NCL over 20 years. I suppose as long as they come I will be happy.

Birdtravels it is not about luggage delivery coz I have no idea or would even know if it makes a difference with the tags for delivery. For me it just adds to the excitement of the cruise.

So again I thank everyone. At least I know it was not just me!
