djpk2003 Posted March 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Does anyone know where is a good resource to get printed maps (preferably free ones :D) of our port stops? We will be sailing on Norwegian Gem next month with stops in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Tortola. TIA!
sparky-elpaso Posted March 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Just do a general search for each port. Most port cities will have a web site and quite often you can find a pdf map to print out. Also check the port using Google Earth for a different type of view.

It makes for a certain comfort level with the area before we get there, especially when you have identified things you want to see.
cb at sea Posted March 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Many guidebooks have nice maps!
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 28, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2016 We use a combination of what has been recommended. We use Google Maps and sometimes we do buy a map if it is a large city. Keith
az_tchr Posted March 28, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Trip advisor has guides for many ports and always with maps. Toms port guides also have maps in their downloadable guides. Always download both before leaving home!
navybankerteacher Posted March 28, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Try going to your local library - most I've experienced have fairly complete travel sections - and copy machines you can use for about ten cents a page.
dsrdsrdsr Posted March 28, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Start with the local tourist office and see what they have. Many of them have free pdf maps. Then google the port name and "map", and look on the images page. Most places have maps of various types on free pdfs.
agargoyle Posted March 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Hi, I agree with using Travelocity and Google. I also search the tourist website of the port. With the competition for tourist dollars each country usually has a very good web presence usually broken down for those that stay on the island and for those just stopping on a cruise ship. That is often where you find lots of free events listed...they figure show you free and you will spend money on something. My only bit of advice is watch the dates. You can run across a really great site or map and it has not been updated in a year or so. St. Thomas and St Maarten have a wealth of information out there. Kartgv Posted March 29, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Here's another website to use: http://cruiseportwiki.com/ It not only has maps, but also a lot of information about each port - currency used, things to see and do (especially right near the pier), etc. We used to use the Tom's port guides, but it seemed to want us to download large PDF files which may be more information than you want.
