At one point we went into a store, and mom bought something. I got some water.

Oasis%20of%20the%20seas%20day%207-43_zpsfrhnnrlk.jpg

We got to the taxi area and there was only one person there. He asked us where we wanted to go, I replied "to the beach, but I am not waiting for anyone". He then told us that he would take us by ourselves, to Frigate Bay that was one of the closest beaches for $12 total. Sure, why not? Close sounded perfect to me.

The roads in St Kitts are some of the best I’ve seen in the Caribbean, he told us they were recently repaired.

The ride there was around 12 minutes. We asked him if he could pick us up around 1pm, and he said he would. I think that would give us around 4 hours at the beach.

He asked us if we wanted chairs and umbrella, we said yes. So he took us to his friend’s place. The place was a little run down, and the lounges were not the most comfortable ones in the area. The beach is also very volcanic, dark sand and whatnot. But I will tell you one thing, my feet can take abuse as you know. Volcanic sand gets ridiculously HOT!!! I’ve never experienced anything like that, and I am used to walking barefoot on Fort Lauderdale beach deep in the summer. I am not sure what it is, but geez, I learned my lesson the hard way!

We were pretty much the first ones there, and the weather there was actually really nice.

All the way at the end is the local beach, and it was packed, remember it was spring break.

Right in front of us the beach had eroded and it was extremely rocky. Like dangerous rocky. That said, if you walked a little towards the local side, the beach was perfectly fine and safe. Of course, most people are lazy and they went in through the dangerous side.

I was surprised at how empty the beach was, our ship sail away time was early that day. I noticed most tours came to the beach late and only stayed there for about 2 hours. That is not long enough for mom and I enjoy the beach.

Not my favorite beach by a long shot. Actually, I think it was one of my disliked ones. I enjoy nice soft sand and not so steep. But mom was enjoying her beach day, so that was good.

We were growing a little hungry, and I was in a mood for conch. Please tell me how after 5 ports I was unable to find conch?? Anyway, mom went to look at the menus, and she found one that had a seafood combo. It said it had fried fish, fried shrimp and CONCH FRITTERS!!! Yayyyy! I'll take that! We paid $24 for the seafood, fries, and a coke.

There I am looking for my conch fritters, but wait what? NO CONCH FRITTERS! I guess they were out and just gave us extra fish and shrimp. Oh well, what can you do?

It was a lot of food, and reasonably priced. Other than the conch fritters missing, it was actually really good.

It was actually really nice, the food was even delivered to our spot even though we did not rent the umbrella from them. Nice people =)

They started renting out the jet skies. As much as I wanted to go on them, I was in full vegetative state. There was not moving me from that lounger.

It was a Costa vessel. It is beyond me how I thought we were the only ship in port.

I guess mom went for a little walk, I just relaxed and enjoyed the view of all the sailboats in the distance. I did regret not brining my tele lens that day.

Once back in the room, I knew exactly what I wanted to do, take a long nap. I think I was out for about 3 hours, and by the time I actually woke up the ship was supposed to had sailed already. I believe we had a medical emergency and the ship was delayed a few hours in departure.

While I was sleeping mom was out and about.

Mom made it back to the room and we both were feeling a little hungry. We went to the promenade cafe to grab a quick bite. Quite honestly, we tried going to the Park Cafe first, but the line must of been 30 strong. There is no way I will wait in line like that for a sandwich. I guess as the cruise evolves the popularity of the park cafe increases.

Mom and I left to the solarium for a little while to enjoy the jacuzzi. On the way out we saw Ika, and his manager just happened to walk by. He checked on us and asked us if our cruise had improved after the move. I guess someone had told him about the issue already. Nice fellow. He also asked us if it was our favorite cruise cruise. At which point I answered, I don't know. The Allure is right there, and I was still undecided which I liked best. He insisted the Oasis was better, and especially because it was a 9 day sailing. He did have a point.

I took pictures of the solarium bistro menus. Initially we had intentions of going there, but seeing how empty it was every night really turned me down on the idea.

You are welcome Felipe. I'm glad it fit you. I fell behind on reading your review and am finally catching up. This is one of the best cruise trip reports I've seen on CC.

Randy

Once again thank you, and I hope you continue to enjoy the review :)

Gambee, I was trying to do a quote on a post, but for some reason it won't let me. In your post about Magen's Bay (Post #813) you asked about other possible beaches in St. Thomas for an upcoming cruise. I can definitely recommend Sapphire Beach. We've been there twice now, once in May 2013 and again in September 2015 and love it. There are beautiful views out towards St. John and the BVI's (Jost van Dyke & Tortola) and some smaller islands in between. Very easy to get loungers and they will set them up for you. I can't remember the exact cost, but think it was around $15.00 for two loungers. There is plenty of natural shade under the sea grape trees. If you snorkel, there is is snorkeling there as well, best is over towards the right where the coral is. The beach itself is a little rocky/coral towards the right but mostly sand over on the left. When we were there in 2013, over on the left it was sand walking into to the water, but due to some erosion, it was a little rocky entering when there in 2015. They have clean restrooms and also a dive shop where you can rent snorkel gear (we have our own). There is also a restaurant that seems to be reasonably priced. I've seen it mentioned several times, but they also serve mahi mahi sandwiches there, in addition to other food. We've never purchased any food there so I have no personal experience with it. Both times we've been there, there is someone walking the beach taking drink orders.

We were in Magen's Bay in 1992 on our honeymoon and although we thought it was pretty, we prefer Sapphire. We've also been to Trunk Bay in St. John - also beautiful if you have time to get over there.

I was going to wait until you finished to comment so this doesn't cut into your review, but I am really enjoying this one as much as I have your others. I've seen pictures of Oasis before, but nothing like yours...I definitely think you have me sold - I'd love to try sailing on her one of these days. Loved your pictures of her at night in San Juan...I love all your pictures. I'll save the rest for when you finish. :)

Thank you for the input, I will keep it in mind as I make the final decision. Thank you for reading for the review, and I am glad you're enjoying it. You should really try one of the O sisters, they are incredible ships :)

Gambee the review is awesome!!! I love your writing style ( grammatical errors and all), your pictures, your sense of humor, and your love for your mom! I read your Alllure of the Seas review, loved that review as well, and can't wait to continue on with this review!!!

Thank you, glad you're having fun reading my work. It is really nice to know that it is appreciated by so many in the community. Continue to follow along :)
