I'm on the Summit - Issues w/ My RS

Absolutely, my carryon has valuables that I would not leave anywhere out of my sight. I do however put ID on it as well as a luggage tag, just in case something happens.

I'm with you....there's no way I would leave my carry on anywhere where I can't see it!! It has my tickets, my meds, all of my confirmation letters, as well as my electronics and chargers. I also put a luggage tag on it, just in case. Even if I had a suite with a butler, I would not leave my carry-on in MC or anywhere else.

So you have never had a suite experience therefore you don't know about MC? We had no issue recently about leaving our carry ons with the MC concierge. I guess we are more trusting then others. We left our carry on bags and went off to Lumanae and never worried one second about their safety. After lunch, there they were waiting for us.

So much mockery of op. If someone in RS has first world problems, fine. They are in a top luxe situation. They deserve limes, whatever. They were let down. I can't belive the sarcasm.

For embarkation/disembarkation I put a label on "anything that moves" - that includes my handbag [purse] which I would never intentionally let go of.

I have, and would, however, leave our carry-ons in the care of the Michael's Club concierge - locked of course. Has not been an issue for our past three cruises because we have been escorted to our suite long before lunch in Luminae and we have had the reassurance of being able to secure valuables in our safe before going to lunch.

I agree, the OP PAID to have these privileges. I can relate to being upset about not getting what I paid for or having to work harder then I should to correct the problem. Just because its not the worst problem to have doesn't mean its not a problem. No one on this board is any position to judge. We are all cruising at some level which is more then a lot of people can manage.

I'm not going to pick on the OP for being disappointed that some of the pre requests hadn't come through on embarkation - BUT it is the reaction to that, that to many of us is over the top.

I'd of given a list of things that should have been there to the Butler and asked him to track them down and please rectify as soon as he was able. Turn around day is very busy for all staff and you aren't the only suite. Letting the Butler or the MC Concierge know that you were disappointed should have been sufficient - why the "heads rolling" response of calling the HD when you hadn't given anyone the time to make things right?

Agreed, but the mocking over the points is unnecessary, childish, and mean spirited. Two wrongs don't make a right? Those mocking the OP don't appear to have any more class then the OP. That was my point anyhow.

It's about setting expectations. If Celebrity sets an expectation that they are going to provide a service regardless of how "small", they should provide the service. Suites are expensive for a reason and standards have to be maintained or they slip. If the passenger paying their hard earned money doesn't call them on it, who will? I took the OPs point as she didn't ask for much and still they didn't get it right.

These all seem like straightforward requests that would easily met by a decent hotel to its premium suite guests - preferred brand of high street spirits, a preferred brand of cheap beer, a few slices of lime for a V+T and some chocolates. It's not as though the OP was asking for an Elephant's Foot in a bun!

question....I am in the Royal Suite in about 3 weeks, I have not heard anything from the concierge yet...I do have some request, so how long do I wait? Or does anyone know the email address, and I will make the 1st contact myself. Thanks!

I am sailing on the Summit Sunday and was not contacted by the concierge. In fact, I was writing to the Michael's Club Concierge like I used to do but received no response. I finally called the Captain's Club a week ago and was told I'd be contacted by someone. I wasn't. This happened twice. I then called during "business hours." I was never told there was a new concierge and what hours he or she was in but was then connected. I'm trying to ensure seating with my friends in the MDR instead of Luminae, where I will eat on the second segment of my b2b after my friends have disembarked. Previously, being linked did not always result in our being seated together, causing one of us to stand in line in the MDR to once again request this. Having the Michael's Club Concierge take care of this for the last two years proved to be a wonderful perk. Now, I can't seem to get confirmation but will keep trying. I think you should get started with your requests asap!

When the OP posted their issue on this board they opened themselves up to either ridicule or praise. They have received both.

My first thought was why in the world would they post to begin with. My second thought was they wanted all of us to know that they had the means to afford the RS. and my third was Not My Problem.

How about the OP just wanted to give people a head's up so that others could understand and prepare for possible problems?

We all have expectations and it can be disappointing when they are not meet, particularity in unpper end suites.

For someone such as myself who rarely books a RS, booking one would be a trip of a lifetime. Promises not fulfilled would be a let down. But no, for us, heads would not roll.. ;)

The only real "problems" are the one they paid for and didn't receive (the truffles) and the roll away bed. Both are easily and quickly rectified with a discussion with their butler. Certainly not a major issue in the least.

The rest are requests that may or may not always be filled (I know Celebrity, like most cruise ships, will always do their best to accommodate though) and their own naivety with their carry on luggage.

Be that as it may, after a phone call or two, Celebrity made good on everything anyway. So what exactly is the issue and why the need to post about it?

I thought I answered that question. To serve as a heads up for future RS cruisers.

I personally appreciated the post.

Do any of you ever think there should be a separate access controlled forum for super-duper elites and another for suite guests so they can share their concerns/gripes without fear of retribution/ridicule by us commoners?

Maybe another one for those who think everyone should have to dress "to the 9's" on formal nights.

Seems like that would go a long way towards eliminating a lot of the hostility on these boards. :)

I too am extremely concerned with the statement that "heads will roll." Nowhere in the OP's posts is there any mention of shape, size, density of or protuberances on any and/all heads under consideration. Without this vital data, I'm afraid we simply cannot correctly predict that any rolling will be done.

After reading the experience of the RS guest, I am amazed that they would be happy on the Summit..or any other Celebrity ship. If you insist on such service, why don't you sail on a luxury line. I am reminded of the article that I read that stated if you are booking the most expensive suite on the ship, you're on the wrong ship. I carry my hand carry items with me. I don't expect cruise staff to be a slaves for my use. I enjoy the Summit. I will be on it this Sunday for the 3rd time in 2016. I like it. I am not in a suite. Maybe someday....or not. Meanwhile, I am happy to be in any cabin.
