Taking our own wine to MDR

We would like to enjoy 1 of the bottles of wine we plan to bring on board ... There are 7 adults in our group. How can we take it to the MDR? How do they charge the corkage fee? If we don't finish the bottle, I understand the bottle follows you the next evening but what if you don't know which restaurant you will be in and at what time? Sorry for the silly questions....just don't want to look like a newbie .... Even if we are!

'pris993' answered the corkage portion of your question ($15) and you tell them where you previously dined to have your bottle transferred to another dining venue. I've seen our bottle marked with our onboard folio code so they might input that into a system to help locate where your wine is stored.

There are no silly questions but I have read some silly answers. :p

If one of you has more than one bottle when you board they will automatically charge the corkage at that time.

And they can get the bottle too and from anywhere, just need your card and where you had the bottle last.

If you take more than 2 bottles on board you will pay corkage on all but 2 per stateroom as you board. Keep the 2 corkage free ones for drinking anywhere but the dining room otherwise you'll pay corkage on them if you take them to the dining room. Take the ones with prepaid corkage to the dining room and there is no further fee.

At the end of your meal, if you wish to have the ship save your wine

for the next night ... they will ask your folio number (on your cruise card)

write it on the bottle, and secure the bottle in the bar in the galley.

If you ever go on a galley tour, you can see the bar and bottles locked

up -- it looks like a stainless steel jail.

On the next night, you tell your server your folio, and which dining room

you were in the previous night.

They dispatch someone to that galley bar to retrieve your wine.

Thank you everyone for your replies. As for taking the bottles of wine in to dinner ... Here is the silly part of my question .... do we need to take them in a bag? Or can we just carry them in as is?

Carry them is fine.

Just to be clear the rule is 1 x 750ml bottle per passenger of drinking age. So if there are 3 passengers of drinking age in the cabin then each passenger can take on a bottle free of charge for use in the cabin.

Alcohol policy says one per drinking age passenger. We have seen cases where solos were only allowed one bottle, so this is consistent. You CAN take more than one bottle, but will be charged corkage as you are getting onboard. These bottles can be taken to the dining room with no additional cost. Normally when they scan your carryon they refer you to a table to take care of this. Sometimes there is nobody at that table. So enforcement can be spotty.
