Options :Taxi 15/20 mins around 17 eu

 

Bus in to Palma No 3 get at shopping centre Port Pi a 20 min ride to Plaza Espana (central Bus Station) 2 eu.

I think there also a bus at 10.30 from then every half an hour and the journey is about 30 mins .

I would get off in central Palma and walk to Plaza Espana 20 min walk that way you could have a stroll though some of Palma before catching the bus.

And if we do that, I assume we don't pay until the end so that we know we've got a ride back, correct?

You can try to do a deal might work !! Tips are not expected and Max I/4 eu sometimes I do sometimes not, same applies to restaurants

We just returned from our cruise. In Palma we took the train to Soller (very nice). Once there we took the tram to the Port and walked around. Didn't take very long. If you want to go to the beach, that is a possibility. We then took the tram back to Soller and had lunch in the square in from of the church. We had to ask several times but found the bus to take back to Palma. People speak about the train ride but the scenery from the bus is also very nice.

We will be in port from 8-6. Is this doable for us as well? Did you buy your train and bus tickets ahead of time?

The local bus mentioned in the post only has a route during the summer. I researched some more and found that there is a local bus, 340, that runs during our time frame. Is this doable during our time of travel-we realize that it will be cooler-but will there some activity during this time of year? Additionally, where is the best place to purchase tickets for the bus (ahead of schedule), where to pick up this bus, and any information about that area of the island-does it have local transportation-public transportation, taxis, etc... Any advice would be helpful. We are a group of 5 (3 adults and 2 teenagers).

This would not be my suggested Trip , it is the furthest point from Palma and in the summer is busy, in February, it will be complete dead with most of the restaurants and hotels closed for the winter.

 

If this is a must trip hire a car or get a guide to take you out for the day, First you have to get to the bus station in the Plaza Espana 45 mins then least 1 hour 30 mins from the port on a public bus and then 2 taxis if you can find one for another 40mins , you will be very disappointed when you finally arrive.

 

I advise against this adventure, If you change your mind I can help !!!

Next stop will be on Celebrity and we will be in port from 10-8. Thinking about a segway tour around the old town and then time to eat and wander around the city.

Hi Jane,

Still on the job !! Both you ideas look good to me , I hope that it more than just going to the cave and returning to Palma a stop in Porto Petro where the caves are would be nice, you will have few hours to kill in the afternoon , if you are not to tired I would return to the ship for lunch and then get the shuttle in to Palma about 15 mins and have a look round try to visit interior of the cathedral and have look around the old town before the concert.

I have often seen the Segway's around Palma looks fun to me, I would try to book this for the afternoon and in the morning try to see another side of the island if you look back on my threads in this post you will find something that appeals,

If you need any dining suggestions that are not tourist traps let me know

Will be in Palma from 8am-5pm on Sunday, October 16th on Celebrity Equinox who advised me they do not provide a shuttle. There are 4 of us and we want to go to Valldemossa and spend a few hours. The monastery appears to only be open from 10am-1pm on Sundays so that is our gating factor.

 

So what is our best option? If we take a taxi from the pier to Valldemossa, how much should we expect to spend one way and is it easy to get a cab at both places?

 

Our other option is the Line 210 bus - there are two departure times that would work from the central station but I think the first one will be impossible to make (leaves for Valld. at 8:30) so I think we're limited to the one that leaves at 10:00. If we take the bus would you suggest we take a taxi to the central station or is it fairly simple to catch the Line 1 bus near the entrance to the Dique pier? How long via taxi from pier to central station? via Line 1 bus?

Back in 2013, I hired a local gide, Miguel Corral, to take us on a private excursion with other CC people from our Roll Call. If you have an active Roll Call you may be able to entice others to join you. here's the description of that tour.

 

This tour gives you the opportunity to discover Mallorca's north coast with a visit to the Costa Nord Foundation and free time in Valldemossa to explore at your own pace. You’ll also have the oppurtunity to savor the taste of Mallorcan wines in Son Bosch.To avoid the arrival of regular tours we can first do the winery in Santa Maria and then the charming village of Valldemossa. Admission fees to monuments, lunch and drinks are not included. These are the additional costs if you decide to add them. As far as I remember, if a few people chose not to participate in any one of the following they are free to explore on their own.We will visit the Wineries of Santa Maria where we will be able to sample wines, olive oils and deli type snacks. We will visit the Conda Nord Foundation in Valldemossa where you will see a video presentation by Michael Douglas. You may also take advantage of a wonderful lunch at Conda Nord for an additional 12€ or find lunch on your own in the area. You will also have the option of seeing Cartuja de Valldemossa with a minipiano concert for an additional 7.5€.

You may find the bus prices different today. You can also hire a smaller bus which will change the pricing. Miguel is quite flexible in how you want to arrange the excursion. I've used him twice and he is an excellent guide. Roger B might also be helped by this info since he is interested in the wineries. We only visited Macie Batle and a great time was had by all.

 

If I had to do this all over again, I would decide what to do instead of offering so many options. It was a lot of work keeping track of the money and who went where. We did not go to the piano concert but did the buffet at Conda Nord, the Palma cathedral and the winery. Some people chose not to have lunch with us and when they got back on the bus and found out what we got for our money, they said from now on they would do whatever Joan decided to do. BTW I know the price of that lunch went up and it included unlimited wine. It was fantastic.

We used Claudia from Mallorca cruise excursions.com. We did the west end tour. Just her and the two of us. Told us about the people and island. Such a wonderful day. She wanted to show us everything. She didn't seem to understand us wanting to linger over lunch overlooking the Mediterranean . The scenery was amazing. Stopped early and had a latte with the old men of the village talking politics. ( we assume because of the passion) . One wonderful day.

I went to their website but there is no address listed. Can anyone provide detailed information on what we need to do once we get off the ship? Is it very crowded for the first bus? Your ship could dock at 1 of 2 berths , if you are on the far side of the port you will have a very long walk to pick up the bus at stop No 14 0n the map below, if you dock at the other berth you will only have a short walk.

See if Princess provide a shuttle to the centre , then you can start at stop No 1,Personally I think that it is easier to get a taxi in to Palma about 10 eu, everything is walkable from there.

Look at the route of the HoHo bus to see what you want to see and follow a walking route.

Thanks for the info. Is Bellver Castle worth going to? It looks like it would be a far walk if we took a taxi into the center of town.

 

Also, on the HOHO but map it shows the route mostly in red but near the Castle it is all in purple. They say they have only one route. Do you know why it is not all one color?

Thanks for the info. If we do the HoHo it will only be €10.50/per because we are seniors. Obviously a cab is half that.
