Children in the Diamond Lounge?

Recommended Posts

That is when you start talking about things that happened twenty or more years ago.

Do you remember eight track players? How about cameras with film? Rotary dial phones? Mr. Ed (there are two Mr. Eds, one was owned by Wilbur and the other was on SNL. Do you remember black & white TV? Or having to get up to change the channels? How many channels did you have? Do you know what a licorice pizza is? Do you know who shot JR? Do you know what a record player is? Can you name all the members of the Rat Pack? Do you know what a floppy disk is? Can you name all the Spice girls. Do you know who John, Paul, George, and Ringo are? Were you at Woodstock? Did you watch Neil Armstrong walk on the moon? Do you remember Captain Kangaroo or Bozo the Clown? Do you remember A, B, C, D, & E tickets, and which one was the best? Do you remember when cruising did not involve ships? Did you ever own a car without seat belts? Do you remember 25¢ gas? Do you remember when you had to double the price of the gas you pumped? Do you remember odd and even days? How about the national 55 MPH speed limit?

OMG...thanks for the beautiful trip down memory lane. Scary since I do indeed remember most of of those things! :D Ah the good old days (especially the .25 gasoline!). And of course another thing that bugs the crap out of kids these days, ......when us oldsters talk about "the good old days". ;p:p

It isn't fair to the others in the lounge to have kids whose parents won't discipline them. My triplet grandsons do a lot of time out or have their nightly video taken away if they act up.

And of course I already know what a good grammy you are! Your grand kids are treasures due to the fact you were

good parents to their parents! :)

Believe it or not many kids like learning about history, past pop culture, etc. Why would you think it would "bug the crap" out of kids? And if that's the type of discussion people want to have I certainly wouldn't find it too "adult" for my child.

Wow....was just joking around....and have indeed witnessed many children rolling their eyes when we talk about the

old days. Need another cup of coffee? :o

Disagreeing with your comment nicely doesn't give you the right to be snarky towards me.

OK...see your post #706....How do you read it?

My original quote comment was not to you..but joking around with that poster, of whom I find very witty and enjoy

his humor.

Sorry if you think I was snarky...but snarky is actually how I read your comment.

Man this would be a great way to spend having a few drinks in the DL and reminiscing. The 60's didn't totally erase my memory. In 1970 when I left for Vietnam gas was 32¢ a gallon (upstate New York) and 18 months later when I returned it was 99¢ a galloon.

The parents would probably give you a mouth full of abuse if you told the kids off even though they are not checking the kids themselves.

That's why RCI has to back up Concierges who say something to the parents of mis-behaving kids. I have read about security being called on some non-parenting parents to have them and their offspring escorted out of the DL or CL.

Thanks!! My son-in-law is the strictest so kudos to his parents also. In addition, DD & SIL realize they are outnumbered.

Agree 100%. I have seen the Concierge on Freedom of the Seas call security to remove both the parents and unruly children after repeated warnings by the Concierge.

Those consierges deserve top marks and good tips if they police the lounges effectively.

Why should people without kids always have to change their plans to accommodate those with kids??? Why can't their be a venue JUST for adults???

If you are referring to the Diamond Lounge, the Diamond Lounge is for those who have spend forty days and sea in a Royal Caribbean suite prior to the cruise that they are on, or who have spend eighty days at sea in any cabin prior to the cruise that they are on. It is limited to those above a certain age.

The Solarium on the other hand is limited to (I believe) those that are sixteen and over. Some exceptions are made based on the weather, the ship, and where the ship is cruising.

If consierges police the lounges properly and throw out unruly kids and parents then they deserve the gratitude of us all who just want a quiet friendly loyalty lounge.

They deserve top marks and good tips off the rest of us who respectfully frequent the lounge during cocktail hours.

As a long time CC member, but one that does not post often, I have the following question. When is it time to close a thread and who closes it?

This thread started on July 17, 2016. Since then, it appears that all opinions on "Children in the Diamond Lounge" have been covered every which way at least a dozen or more times.

Why does a thread have to close. Just unsubscribe and move on. [emoji6]
