Michaels Club Questions

It must depend on the ship. On our last cruise on the Equinox, they could get anything you wanted eligible for Premium Beverage consumption. Needed a few hours to get my bottle of Macallen scotch. When I showed up, it was how much do you want now. Always stopped off on the way back from excursions. Great amenity. I never had to ask for my wife's gin and tonic. No problem taking it out.

I appreciate all the responses to my question about taking drinks out of Michael's Club. What is your experience with bringing a drink into Luminae?

We would leave Michael's Club with a glass of wine, go to Luminae where the Maitre'D would escort us to our table and the Sommelier would come to the table and take the glass of wine and pour it into the Luminae glassware.

Luminae glassware is much nicer than elsewhere on the ship and they do not want you to take it with you at the end of the evening as it is exclusive to Luminae.

There are no restrictions as such in Michael's Club re children. However, there is nothing there to entertain them. We have seen a few well behaved ones sat with their parents for pre and post dinner drinks and a very sulky and wimpy 'can we go now, can we go now...' poor little boy on some sort of hand held game...

It is quite a confined space with a club type ambiance. You know your kids, how long you can expect them to sit quietly for. The conceirge will prioritise you for babysitting for a few nights if you want so then you will be able to enjoy a couple of really relaxing meals and Michael's Club sessions!

I have to be honest and say we did see a couple 'challenged' when their toddler was crying loudly for several minutes in Michael's. In typical professional style the bartender came over and politely but quite firmly said 'Can I mix you the same to go or something different to take back to your cabin?' After four Michael's Club cruises this is the only time we have ever seen an issue.

Whilst there is no breakfast as such in Michael's at any time of the day they will offer little savouries, some really yummy!

Have a great vacation!

Some of the ship's do have a Continental Breakfast. Infinity did last Fall. But Equinox didn't, this past April. Apparently, it depends if that room was originally designated as a dining venue.

From our personal experience little change...Nicely busy pre and post dinner but always a few seats available. However, we were told on the Solstice that on the TP and on another cruise from Sydney with limited drinks packages included that Michael's had been very busy....I assumes the TA cruises could be similar.

Certainly something to monitor.

On the Reflection TA this past spring, Michaels' Club was VERY busy before dinner, but service was still excellent. There were a few times when the only seats available were at the bar. After dinner was much quieter.

Did you go see Passenger Services about this staff member. Maybe they just not suited for working there.

We told the MC Concierge and she admitted they were having a difficult time with the bartenders. Most people using MC didn't think they needed to tip the bartender at the end of the cruise (since it was included). Just stupid people. We would have gladly tipped the bartender, as we always do and as we did the Concierge.

Just curious. Is Michael's Club more crowded now that sky suite passengers can go there?

Awesome question! Yes and no. Yes - those suite guests that do NOT have a beverage package included with their suite go to MC to get free drinks. We booked suites that included the Premium drink package so it didn't matter to us where we drank and we never used MC. What we found challenging was in Luminae. Sky suite passengers who had to custom order everything or order from the MDR because they didn't like the menu in Luminae.

We always tip the MC bartender each time we ordered drinks. Our way of saying thank you.

Not quite sure what you mean about Sky suite passengers. Are you saying that people in Sky suites had a greater tendency to dislike the Luminae menu than other suite passengers? Or did you mean that the particular people who ordered off the MDR menu happened to have been in Sky suites and you weren't making a generalization about Sky suite passengers? Also, in what way was it challenging for you because they ordered off the MDR menu?

Just curious regarding taking wine from MC to Luminae, if you are staying in a suite don't you have the premium beverage package? If so why the need to bring MC's wine to the restaurant?

Russg140, how would you know that it was just Sky Suite passengers ordering off the MDR menu? Weird observation.

Good question. There have been some promo's offering GoBest, including premium package, to Sky and Celebrity Suite passengers. However, these perks are not available on "repositioning" cruises, such as transatlantics.

Passengers in Signature suites and above DO receive the included premium package automatically. But not for those of us in the Sky and Celebrity suites.

So I'd be interested in knowing how you knew what type of suite someone was in...did you have a roster of the ship's guests?:D

So am I considered a lower form of life because I am travelling in SkySuites at the end of the month and will be seated in Luminae? I can envision someone in lorgnettes looking down their nose at me if I dare to ask to see the menu from the MDR!

I've heard this about Reflection too with more Sky Suites. I'm guessing it may be worse with lots of sea days. Will find out in October.

These are totally ridiculous comments about Sky Suites and no need to worry at all. Everybody is treated the same in MC and Luminae - all excellent.

Maybe a misunderstanding of the comment? Not a generalisation, but perhaps a particular group of guests who were in Sky Suites?

Also, IIRC, anyone in a suite carries a key card that simply says "SUITE GUEST" and, pretty sure there is no different color for Sky Suites.:)

Enjoy your Sky Suite. We did!:D

Cheers!

I'll apologize now....I will be one of those people who will be asking to see the MDR menu when I sail on Summit the week after next whenever we dine in Luminae!

Sorry if it "challenges" anyone!

But I'll be a PH guest, so does that make it better

That is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever read on CC.

As several people have commented, how in the world would you have known they were Sky Suite guests!?

Is Celebrity stamping our cabin #'s on our foreheads now, in case we get lost navigating the ship!?

This thread is no longer about Michael Club????

Sadly, unintentional thread jacking does sometimes happen. One person makes a comment drawing the ire of others, including me, who seek clarification from the poster, just need to react, or both.

Let's bring it back to Michael's Club. Some people have mentioned that the wines served are those from the premium package. Others say the wines are better than those on the premium package. Any wine connoisseurs care to share their observations? Thanks.

We have been in Michaels club a number of times, before Sky suites gained access and after. We have stayed in Sky suites since the change last year and, while we have not done a TA (when we think that Michaels will be busier due to no deals), we can say that we have not really seen Michael's as being over busy in our times of using the area after adding Sky suites to the area. In fact, we found the room seriously under used before Sky suites were given access.

We have been in Michael's 4 times since it changed to a suite only venue on the Eclipse and Silhouete.

I can understand how the area will be busy on a TA cruise as the guests able to visit are unlikely to have beverage packages. We always have the premium drinks package but we like Michael's club and have been in there having been in a RS, CS and Sky suites and have not experienced any problem with the concierge but we did have an issue with the bar tender

We spoke to the concierge the next day and it was resolved. While he didn't expect it, he did get a tip as he treated us well after that.

There has been some earlier discussion about Luminae but Sky suites have had access there since the suite program was introduced and they have always allowed guests to use the MDR menu but that has never caused any issues in Luminae as the kitchen for both are next door to each other on Solstice Class ships.

Hi emileg

I am considered somewhat of a wine "expert" by others,so here is my observation :

Before start of cruise I inquired about wines available at Michael Club, and I was told it would be like wines on "premium package",which I had already looked up,and was not pleased. Since my alcohol drinking is 95% wine,I expressed my concern to MC CONCIERGE on LAND,and she passed the word to her counterpart ,and they provided "better' wine .

This experience and "absolutely magnificent" service/attention by concierge (Anca),has sold me as a definte future "cruiser" with celebrity.

As someone who is not a wine connoisseur, I do appreciate a nice glass of chardonnay.

Our experience on Summit in a suite (non-sky :p) was not that great.

We both looked forward to the venue, pretty easy to please. I'm the lover of the grape, my husband is just a Coke Zero kind of guy. Their choice of chardonnay was what was available in the classic package, not that good. They never asked me what I preferred when I asked what was available, I just didn't ask for the glass of wine. The bartender was aloof, not in any way wanting to serve or please us. We had the premium drinks with our suite so being able to get a nice glass of wine there was not a priority. I wonder if I had asked for a certain brand if they would have gotten it for me? I didn't even want to bother asking the bartender.

Chances are if you had asked the bartender or waitress they would have found you other choices. Our experience at Michael's has been different, both the bartender and waitress going out of there way to find whatever we wanted, and if it wasn't available in Michael's they would go to whatever venue on the ship had it. We look forward to being there again in just a few months on the Equinox.:)
