Candycrusher Posted August 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2016 We are considering booking an aft penthouse suite D726 on the Regal Princess. Past reviews talked about soot issues on the balconies. Has anyone here been in these cabins or know how if the soot issue has currently been resolved?
RocketMan275 Posted August 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2016 We are considering booking an aft penthouse suite D726 on the Regal Princess. Past reviews talked about soot issues on the balconies. Has anyone here been in these cabins or know how if the soot issue has currently been resolved? We were in that cabin and had no noticeable soot issues. Would not hesitate to book again. Soot can be an issue on any ship with aft cabins. Depends upon wind speed and direction. Ships speed and direction. Here's the deal. You can book a suite on the sides with a balcony that is so small you can't use it, ie, 40 inches deep. Or, you can book an aft owners suite with a wonderfully large balcony. So what if you have a bit of soot?
reedprincess Posted August 2, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2016 Take it! Huge balcony, great wake views larger suite, etc.. We did Caribe deck aft balcony last year - LOVED IT!! Narrower balcony than Dolphin deck - no soot issues at all, absolutely loved it...wrap-around deck was amazing. We'd book again in a heartbeat...
WISH84 Posted August 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2016 The only time you have to worry about the soot is coming back to the cabin late at night. Just watch the chairs and rails. We were in B734 (Owners Suite) this past December and only had an issue one night. The room steward was awesome in keeping the balcony clean. We are in B736 this December for the 14 B2B so obviously the soot wasn't that big a deal to us. [emoji6]
Candycrusher Posted August 3, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Thanks for your replies. We booked D726 today....the only OS left for the Jan 22 sailing ( unless another one becomes available on a higher deck) . For those of you who are repeat passengers, our cabin is on the Dolphin deck which is deck 9. Should we try to go for a higher deck if another OS becomes available? Thanks. Heck no - keep the Dolphin deck suite - the biggest balconies of any sure, followed by Baja (I think) tou should have coverage and open balcony both. The other decks have narrower wrap around balances but still get - just much narrower than the Dolphin or Baja ones....
Candycrusher Posted August 16, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted August 16, 2016 We booked a PH aft suite on the Dolphin deck. It looks amazing. We are surprised that there are not more perks with this category suite. On the Allure of the seas, we had a crown loft suite that included wonderful perks...like reserved seating for shows.....our own dining room and bar that included free liquor, private cabanas on a private pool deck with our own service person, and much more......same price! I feel Princess should update their perks for the height category suites.
Luckypurple Posted August 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2016 The owners suite on the Regal is FABULOUS! You get the entire corner balcony. We were on Marina deck and my only suggestion would be to go to a lower floor. Best cabin so far. Wish I could always get a suite.
Gracie115 Posted June 30, 2019 #9 Share Posted June 30, 2019 Anyone been on Aloha deck corner suite? How narrow is it really? Can't be as narrow as those on side of ship, I would think

AF-1 Posted July 16, 2019 #12 Share Posted July 16, 2019 Ditto Jeter02. Been in two aft suites on two different ships. Can't beat the big balcony and the big view.
Lindaru Posted July 17, 2019 #13 Share Posted July 17, 2019 I concur. Nice big balcony and laid back in the lounger, snuggled up under one of the blankets on our Alaska cruise, and took a nap to the sounds of the sea and the fresh air. Bliss.
