Please don't bring non-potty trained kids in the pools!

Wife, I get what you are saying. Realistically tho, nothing will happen. Does anyone think the parents will be financially punished? I get accidents happen, that's cool. What the hell are parents thinking when they DONT have their non potty trained toddlers in the pool without those specialty diapers???? I want to grab the parents and say "you are to stupid to be allowed to reproduce"!!!! So then Carnival theoretically comes out with a rule that "No one under the age of 5 (pick an age) is allowed in the pools"....can you imagine the outrage in that (similar to my feelings in specialty restaurants)

The only thing I want them to do is to keep non potty trained kids out of the pools. I said nothing about fines, banning kids under 5, etc. NOT POTTY TRAINED = NO POOLS. NO SWIM DIAPERS, NO NAKED BOTTOMS. Period. Enforce it. If parents get out of hand, call Security and let them deal with it.

I agree that there is a large population that should not be allowed to reproduce.

If you really want to get things to change on Carnival, send the photos to: facebook.com/CDC as a report to the USPH. When Carnival starts getting surprise inspections from USPH because of reported pool incidents, and likely they were not recorded, things will start to change. Ensure you have the date and time the photos were taken. Every fecal accident in a ship's pool must be documented, including the remediation methods taken. If it's not recorded, that is a major observation, and could lead to a failing score on the ship's inspection. If possible, include names and positions of crew notified about the incident.

I've never been on a cruise before so I don't know the rule. Is it that no non-potty trained kids are allowed in the pools at all, even with swim diapers?

That is correct. It is a USPH (US Public Health, part of CDC) regulation. There are a very few ships that have special splash areas designed for toddlers in swim diapers, they are the Disney ships, and the Royal Caribbean Freedom, Oasis, and Anthem class ships. No Carnival ship allows swim diapers in the pools.

I would be going to GS and bringing it to the attention of whoever is in charge of that. I believe it's Housekeeping. Then if I didn't get results, I would post on social media with pics of babies in diapers or naked or whatever (I would block out their faces) and the poop too.

I'm sorry, but this is not a case of someone having a hissy about people not following the rules. It is a real public health hazard.

I would block out the faces but keep the poop in the pics for the shock factor. I'd be forwarding it to that lawyer Larry guy who files suits against cruise lines. Maybe go to the TV news station as soon as I got off the ship. I'd get Carnivals attention. Carnival is well known to sweep things like this under the table.

Oh, yes. The poop stays in the pic!

Yeah, that naked thing going on can be classified as child porn. Pedophiles are everywhere and those naked pictures can be put on social media very easily. This really makes me sick. No amount of fines by Carnival can make a parent act responsibly. Maybe the rule should be if this kind of thing happens, they are put off the ship at the next port and banned from ever cruising on Carnival again. Harsh? Yes. Get the message across? Yes.

What are you suing for? What are your damages?

And we got one complaining on Carnivals page, that her less than 24 month kid had to be taken out of the pool. One post says potty trained and another "almost there", which is it, lol Looks like it's happening on the freedom. Some people are disgusting.

I've read many of your posts and I must say, you know your stuff about ships and rules and regulations. Your idea is an excellent one. I've posted in the past about this very thing - several years ago as a new cruiser to Carnival. I am sure Carnival has had its share of complaints about babies in the pool, and I've even witnessed poop in the pool as well. Your suggestion makes me believe they will have to do something about it fast.

Okay, now I know why you know so much about cruise ships and rules. I see that you are a former cruise ship Chief Engineer.

Never said I was going to sue. Lawyer Larry likes to get these kind of stories to post on his website.

Saying the snowflake is "almost" potty trained is like saying you are a "little pregnant"....it's one or the other, no in between :D

Kids are normally potty trained by what - age 3? I'm asking because it's been a while since mine were little :( and I really don't remember their exact ages.

So let's say then that every child 3 (or whatever age) or over gets a specific colored arm band giving them permission to use the pool. They have to wear one anyway due to their Muster Station being on it, so why not give the younger ones a red one or something like that with a double meaning of not potty trained, no pool. It wouldn't be another band, just a different colored Muster Station band.

It would be easy to identify the ones that are supposed to be there as well as the ones that aren't. At the time the band was being put on, it can be explained once again to parents that they aren't allowed in the pools. Of course you would actually need Carnival to enforce the rules in order for it to work.

Maybe post BIG signs at the pools saying Red band - No pool. Green band - OK to use pool. They would need pics too for those that can't read or claim to not to, or for people that may not read English.

lol, so true. I feel for OP, I remember on Fantasy a few years ago, enjoying the hot tub until that night, parents brought their baby into the tub. That just grossed me out.

I think they need to post signs around a pool that was closed for cleaning due to small child ( or adult) contamination. "Pool closed due to chid in diaper in water". Then the conversation onboard will hopefully shame the inconsiderate parents.

Currently on the Magic and am totally disgusted by what I have witnessed the past few days! First sea day saw a toddler in swim diaper at the small purple water slide and attendant told parent the kid wasn't allowed...parent takes diaper off kid and lets him continue playing-attendant says nothing. Main pool closed for hours due to incident- don't know if it was poop or vomit. Today I take my kid to the slides at 9AM and there are multiple piles of feces in and around purple slide. Entire slide area closed all day and still closed. I have personally witnessed countless babies in diapers in pools and hot tubs and am so grossed out!

People please don't ruin it for the rest of us! Rant over....

Parents should be throw off the ship for stupidity.

EXACTLY! Now all we have to do is to see they ENFORCE those rules. And we know by Carnivals' history on doing that!!!

I think a big issue, is that the Carnival employees are afraid to tell a customer that they can't do something, because the customer will go to Guest Services and complain about them and then the employee can get in trouble. I saw an employee tell a guest that they weren't allowed to do something and they went right to guest services to tell them how rude the employee was. I had to step in and point out how the guest was breaking the rules and that the employee wasn't rude at all.

I commend you for doing that, an employee should not fear doing the right thing.
