Merion_Mom Posted August 16, 2016 #26 Share Posted August 16, 2016 Consider the possibility that all of these "news sources" now being mentioned are all just repeating the one Chinese news report.
Ocean Dancer Posted August 16, 2016 #27 Share Posted August 16, 2016 Ya know, I'm twice this woman's age and not a great swimmer, but I can swim and float. I've actually fallen asleep floating in my son's pool. I ended up with a severe sunburn on my face and shoulders. Of course this wasn't for 38 hours in 65 degree water with a possibility of sharks. I can believe 8 hours in the conditions she was in, but she had to be picked up much sooner than what the story says. Something just doesn't add up!
chengkp75 Posted August 16, 2016 #28 Share Posted August 16, 2016 It is now being reported by the BBC. It sounds far fetched, but I don't consider the BBC to be a tabloid. And the BBC puts quotes around the title, and used the term "allegedly a couple of times when reporting "facts".

Something just doesn't add up! +1, if it happened, someone can't do math and the number of hours is way off.
micmacmissy Posted August 16, 2016 #30 Share Posted August 16, 2016 This "news story" is as suspicious as the Chinese Olympic gymnast who is 4'7" and 75 lbs. China claims she is 20 years old. I'm guessing more like 13! ;) Can't trust their media. Aren't we so lucky to live in a free country? :)
Rare BillOh Posted August 16, 2016 #31 Share Posted August 16, 2016 I agree......it's not like she was six feet tall. Glad she's OK.........sounds like she won the gold medal! I'm 6'2 and had stood at that railing on two Voyager class ships. She would have to climb up and then lean over.
kearney Posted August 16, 2016 #32 Share Posted August 16, 2016 It seems to me that someone on board would have posted something to cruise critic.... Do cruisers sailing out of Asia generally post (while on board) or is this strictly a US/UK phenomenon?
Ocean Dancer Posted August 16, 2016 #33 Share Posted August 16, 2016 Canada, Australia, the Caribbean, India, all over Europe, and a few other areas, but I don't think I've ever seen a post from China. They are avid cruisers, and usually cruise in large groups, maybe this site is blocked.
