BOARDWALK and CENTRAL PARK CABINS

Hello... We have been on 30 RCCL cruises, however, the largest ship class we've ever sailed, has been The Voyager Class.

We are finally thinking of making the jump to a larger class ship and are contemplating The Allure or Harmony out of Fort Lauderdale.

If anyone has ever stayed in a Boardwalk or Central Park stateroom, I would love to hear some feedback.

The Boardwalk cabins seem fine versus a regular balcony except for the fact that these cabins from what I'm reading don't look out over the water, but look out over the deck to a makeshift looking special area???

Can you tell me if these cabins are basically line staying at an Embassy Suite with the same basic type of view? Is there any privacy? Is there a link or site to view any photos?

Just looking for some information. Thanks.

You know you will get a lot of comments, like  don't book one of those cabins -- they are too loud, no privacy, can't see the ocean, etc. As well as comments, like mine, who will tell you to 'go for it'.:D

I've not sailed Allure, but have sailed Oasis twice and both times was Boardwalk cabin and have Boardwalk booked Harmony. I love them.

First was in 10719 and the last was in 10329. 719 I could see the ocean and 329 is right at the end, overlooks AquaTheatre so had great view of the shows, diving, big screens, and the ocean.

I do not find it noisy/loud, even when I would come back for a late afternoon nap.

Yes, there is a lack of privacy, but that too didn't bother me. I didn't close the black-out curtains other than at night. Yes, you have to be a bit more aware when you come out of the shower and have a towel or a robe one -- but no big deal.

The Boardwalk is a busy place during the afternoon/evening - with various activities at the AquaTheatre, kids entertainment on the Boardwalk, and people-noise in general. I sat out on the balcony a lot of afternoons, enjoying the experience.

That's my 2cents!

Central Park is more closed in - kind of overlooks the "park" trees, restaurants, footpaths, etc., kind of similar to an Embassy Suites as you referenced. It can be hot/humid as there is not much air circulation.

Boardwalk, depending on room number, is far more open. More to see - if you are close to the aft you will see ocean. More activities going on than Central Park.

Personally prefer Boardwalk to Central Park. Not as private as ocean view, but a change if you want to try something different. Lots of pictures on line and look at deck plans.

Thanks very much so far. We are game and are not concerned about total privacy and/or some noise. I figure we are on a cruise so everything is fair game. If I wanted silence, I'd take a week off and sit in my local library.

A couple of people have suggested cabins 12729, 12329 and 11329 on The Allure since there is no slide blocking anything. I think it's great to see out of the back of the ship with the ocean in sight, and the theater shows below.

Will continue to gather comments even though I did not see many Allure Boardwalk photos when I did a search here.

If you can score either of the 729 / 329 cabins -- do it! Great View.

I think I'm out if luck. Even though we are looking at October of 2017, the 729/329 cabins are taken at the moment, even though there is a 727 cabin available...but I'm not sure if that's almost as good.

That's only one cabin over and one deck below --- personally -- I'd take it:)

A pic from the Boardwalk looking up to xx3xx cabins (trying to get a pic of my cabin from the Boardwalk --- sorry it's flipped). 12329 is right under the overhang, so 12739 is right across. Hope this helps.

We were on the Oasis twice, both times we had balcony cabins over looking Central Park. Yes you don't see water, and you have neighbors directly across from you. You still are able to get fresh air, and in the evening before retiring it is relaxing to sit on the balcony, where you can see trees and people walking.

I would recommend it from my experience. I realize it may not be for everyone.

Whatever you decide you will have a great cruise!!

If you are interested in Harmony -- here are some links from my friends of mine. Sorry the text is in German.

There's a few really good reviews on the Allure done by A&L_Ont and by APDMOM. A&L (Andrew) does sail in suites, but does a great review / pics of the Allure in general.

We plan to book on The Allure as soon as I finish reading everyone's advice on the Boardwalk cabins and cabin 11327. This is the only cabin available on the Allure, and, is next to cabin 11329 that is taken and below 12729 that is also taken.

Takes 10 seconds to close the curtain. No biggie.

We've been in CP balcony and have one booked. Enjoy it. We are neutral on oceanview balcony cabins, so the cash savings booking CP is awesome for the budget.

We enjoy sitting on the balcony and listening to the music down in CP. Can't do that with an OV balcony.

Hey, if you dig OV balcony, go for it. But, consider giving a CP or BW a try. I'll be, for the most part, you'll love it either way. A bad day sailing is better than a good day at work!

We've done OV so many times on the other ship classes, so, since this will be our first time on The Allure ship class, we are excited and want to try something different.

Both the Boardwalk and Central Park categories seem different and exciting.

Very difficult to decide based on their differences and our personalities which one we'd prefer.

If your thinking of Central park you would get this.

Thanks for the updates. Does everyone feel that any Boardwalk cabin would be fine??

I normally get an accessible cabin and see The Allure has two accessible cabins open but they are on DECK 14, and those cabins are more in the middle of the floor versus the far end like a 12729, even though I'm sure we could still see a little of the water, but not the theater.

Thanks again.

I've enjoyed reading this thread. We are going on Allure in November, in a CP cabin. I chose that based on the fact that I was looking for a more quiet atmosphere, and I was concerned that a BW cabin would be too noisy. That said, I'm thinking if we ever do this class of ship again, I would definitely try a BW cabin.

I

Since this will be our first time on this size of ship, I'm not sure what to do. Even though I have a disability, but not a 100% full blown disability, I'm trying to figure out the advantage or disadvantage between a far aft cabin that is non accessible versus an accessible cabin just a few rooms away.

I'm assuming if we took a Central Park cabin there is no advantage or disadvantage between accessible and non accessible cabins because I think, you can't see out the back of the ship from a Central Park cabin???

The only thing I've read about a Central Park cabin is that when you sit outside your room, it is much warmer without a lot of moving air flow.

Not sure how true that is, even though I think my wife might prefer the beauty of the Central Park feel below us versus a more carnival atmosphere below us with a Boardwalk cabin.

Seems unless you can get the far back cabin in a Boardwalk room to see the view of the water and the theater below, a Central Park room isn't a bad choice either???

We've sailed on the Oasis (3) and the Allure and always occupied a C1 cabin in Central Park. Not only is it has nice scenery but also get to see a lot of activity, especially in the Park Café and the Rising Tide bar. It's a serene environment and many times I'll sit in the balcony and listen to the live music emanating from the pool deck. Cheaper that an ocean view and most of the time cheaper than a Boardwalk cabin.

My preference is #12591 as it overlooks the Café, but also bed placement is by sliding balcony door rather than the bathroom.

If you want to see tons of video's and cabins from pax's...go to:

cruise line rooms dot com

Although I searched for 12729, no such luck, but you will see cabins close by, above and below. Good luck in what ever you decide.

All of the research and opinions are exciting to say the least. I'm sure whatever we decide will be fine because no matter what balcony cabin we have, it's not like I'm going to park myself there 24/7 like a statue. Lol

With the C&A balcony discount both the BV and CP balcony rooms can be cheaper than booking insides or ocean views.

We have 2 Boardwalk balconies booked near the aft on deck 12 and are looking forward to trying those out on both Allure in January and Harmony in March.

We have a CP balcony booked for Oasis in 2018. The price of that CP balcony with the D discount was slightly less than an inside and significantly less than other categories of balconies.

The way I look at it is if I find it too hot or noisy to sit on the balcony then I still have a room on the ship with a full picture window with the ability to let lots of light and a bit of fresh air into the cabin with the added bonus of the new perks they are offering for booking these. And all this for less than an inside or Oceanview cabin.

Be careful about selecting a cabin on Deck 14. Deck 15 is the sports deck with activities around the clock as well as significant motor noise from water amenities. Cabins under/close by those motors can be very noisy.

I have done both CP and BW cabins on both Allure and Oasis. I have a modest preference for CP because :

CP is often (not always) cheaper than BW,

is mid-ship so less waking and less motion

I like the CP wine & Giovanni better than BW soda & JR

I prefer the quieter ambiance of CP, especially the soft live music in the evenings and the fake cricket noises (fake bird calls during the day, joined occasionally by a live stowaway who never seems to figure out where the birds giving those recorded calls are located:D).

CP balconies do get significant pool noise in the afternoon, but I can live with that since I am not much of a balcony person. I would NOT recommend deck 14 which is directly under the pool deck. Note that on Allure (and Oasis, but not Harmony) the Diamond Lounge is on Deck 11, so that's the deck I try to get - DL, not too high, not too low, works for me.
