Is anyone booking for 2018 ?

It was in the T&C's (the small print that nobody ever reads) for those booking in the UK that if you cancel before final balance then the cancelation cost is the full 15% standard deposit.

I think they'd struggle to succeed on the small print when the large print says you'll only lose the deposit if you cancel up to 90 days prior to the cruise..particularly when you book with one of their cruise specialist and they do nothing to draw your attention to different T & Cs.

Could you tell me how to start a roll call? I can see how to respond to a roll call..but when I looked for a "start new roll call" tab there was none, and 'new thread' didn't seem to be appropriate for slottingin a new thread. I did post a question..but got no reply!

Yes, if you want to start a new roll call then just click on "new thread" and put the date in the title. That's the way you do it.

Here for Queen Victoria:

But it's a bit early to start one if it's for 2018.

I have read the T&C's and it says that up to 90 days before departure the cancellation fee is the deposit. There is no stated % rate given.

I have printed this off and will keep for my reference.

The stated deposit for my TA M825 in July 2018 was 5% as a perk for booking the Cunard fare so far in advance for this TA.

I have also printed this for my reference.

I'm sure that if I was billed for another 10% if I cancelled, My lawyer would

have a field day in court.

I am also curious as to how they would obtain this extra 10% as they do not have free access to my bank account.

We've booked the QE 2018 world cruise. Never cruised before.

Hello Brell,

Welcome to Cruise Critic and to the 2018 WC on the QE. Do take a look at the roll call, there are already private shore excursions being formed.

We did the Crystal Full World Cruise in 2016, and loved it! Friends said "102 days--it will be so long!" But, truly, the time sped by. This is our first WC on Cunard, although we've done 6 crossings on the QM2. We chose this itinerary because of all the ports in Japan.

We look forward to meeting you on board!

  • 2 weeks later...

My husband and I are looking forward to a westbound TA on QM2 June 3, 2018.

We were thinking of flying over 2 weeks early and visiting England and Scotland. Of course London is a must, but I have also heard lovely things about Edinburgh. We tend to prefer to minimize the number of hotel changes. We also like locally run small boutique accommodations. Would anyone happen to have suggestions about where to stay in London or Edinburgh?

We'd like to see some castles as we don't have them in America and just loved the Chateaus in Loire Valley when we were there. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you share.

Does anyone know when Cunard release intinary for Xmas new year 2018

Hallo Ukellie. When I booked on board the QE in October the brochure covered cruises right up to December 2018 but stopping just before Xmas. If you are talking about Xmas 2018 and NY 2019 Cunard normally release those along with their World Cruise itinerary (in this instance 2019) in Sept/October.

So sept/ Oct 2017.

Edinburgh is a delightful city ...and I cannot recommend enough the Castle Terrace Restaurant when you get there. You'll need to book well ahead.

Get to HOHO to the Royal Yacht Brittania. Great city to walk around (but plenty of hills). You'll be surprised at how modest is is...small beds!!

Re accommodation I cannot recommend QUIET boutique accommodation in Edinburgh as, where we booked, whilst it was v. pleasant and an attentive host the street noise was pretty dire through these listed building windows. Others may have a better personal experience.

We ended up staying in the Prince's Street Premier Inn which, altho' quite simple, had excellent beds, a decent shower and a terrific location, with some of our Prince's St facing bedrooms overlooking the castle. Very satisfactory The high floors are quieter than the lower ones. We'll book to return.

I love the very North West of Scotland for the scenery (Ullapool and beyond) but not for city breaks/architecture/shops.

In London I always stay in my Inn so not up with other accommodation. I like to be pretty central and walk everywhere, so staying in the Temple area is good. I guess it depends upon your interests and preferences, so Bath is a pretty city (travelling SW rather than North East).

Plenty of other suggestions....

When I was on QE recently, I was told by the on-board cruise sales team that they will be released in April 2017 - probably.

I'd take that information with a grain of salt. That was the correct advice when they used to release all of the post-WC itineraries for the following year in April, but late this summer they released much of 2018 several months earlier than normal.

I don't have a better answer, but my guess would be whenever they release the 2019 WC itineraries.

  • 1 month later...

This is my first time attempting to post. I did my first QM2 westbound crossing last August. I am doing Rovos Rail Southern Africa tours (2 back-to-back) this May, ending in London for a few days, then crossing again on QM2 (June7-15). I have signed up for April 2018 35 day segment from Singapore to Southampton (M815A) - hoping to get to Petra (a bucket list item). Am a bit annoyed that Cunard seems to have ADDED a stop in India (Cochin) that was not on original itinerary, necessitating mandatory individual Indian Visa which appears to be a nightmare (I am in my 70s - do I really know the city where my deceased parents were born?). For me this is one of those "it's now or never situations." I plan to treat myself to business class on Singapore Airlines from SFO - SIN. Looks like I will actually go around the world in this trip - from TPA.

Currently back on board QE; advice from the on-board sales team remains the same, April 2017.

Thank you for all the suggestions:) They will be most helpful in our planning. We have bumped our TA to the 12 day June 24th Westbound so we could take advantage of the overnight in Boston for July 4th. We will still have time in Great Briton first!

I made that mistake a few years ago when I booked on the first day.

A few months later, the prices dropped so much that it was cheaper to cancel, lose the deposit, and re-book.

We've still got a couple of trips to get out of the way before thinking about another.

Stewart

We booked a number of 2018 cruises onboard QM2 in September, going right up to December 2018. Early booking gave us 10% off and the fares were cheaper than those now being promoted by Cunard with its "free upgrade" offer - Princess Grill for the price of Britannia Club in our case. Plus booking onboard gave us $400 extra OBC each. Obviously booking 2 years in advance has some risks, including that the fare really does drop, but we've got the cruises and cabins we wanted at what so far is the best price, so I'm happy!

I. Have booked QE for June 2018 as she is making four maiden port calls. She is calling in Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, plus other ports including overnight in St Petersburgh. It is the only cruise that calls at theses ports.

We also book the follow on cruise to extend the trip.

Booked it whilst on board and got the low deposit and extra OBS.

Cunard called me to make an offer. Since I've never cruised Cunard I told them..."send me the brochure and I'll consider". After reading the book ...If the price is good I think I'll give QM2 trans-Atlantic a try for September of `18. Thinking of getting a single cabin while they are available.

Regarding the "overnight in Boston for July 4th"...sorry, but it's not really an overnight. QM2 departs well after midnight to allow passengers who went ashore to view the festivities to return to the ship. But it isn't an overnight, unless things have very recently changed. Please discuss with Cunard or your travel agent before planning an overnight in Boston on the Fourth.

We've enjoyed this trip several times. Hope you have a good time too! -S.
