Oneluckywoman Posted September 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Hello, I was wondering if anyone has been able to change ships AFTER final payment. I think I know the answer, (no) but would love to know if anyone has had success with this. Thanks.
Ourusualbeach Posted September 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2016 The only cases I know of is for cases due to a medical emergency that prevented people from taking their original cruise. If you are looking to spend more money on a higher grade cabin it might be worth a call to C&A.
papaflamingo Posted September 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) The answer is likely "officially" no. But I have read on here that some people have been able to do it based on reasons like family emergency, sudden illness, etc. The question is why do you want to change ships and what would the dates be? If it's just that you decided you'd rather do a different ship, it's less likely. I'd call your TA or RCCL and talk to someone there. You never know. If there are open cabins on the ship you want to go on, they may just let you do it. It's free to ask, so give it a shot. Let us know how it turns out. The reason we want to change is because we are booked on the Freedom for 5 nights, and now the Allure has a 7 nighter for just a bit more than we paid. Both leave the same date. I have a call in to my travel agent, will let you know if we are successful.
captaincupcake64 Posted September 28, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2016 I would call RC and ask. Depending on your situation there could be some flexibility. Helpful hint. Demanding they chance it will likely get you negative results. Just saying. Bob / captaincupcake64
mpoole3 Posted September 28, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2016 I jumped ships 2 weeks ago from 4 Day Empress to 3 Day Enchantment. I had to beg and beg. My situation was going from solo to 2 people + paying $150 more.
molly361 Posted September 28, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2016 I changed once a few years ago, I don't remember the reason but the cruise I was changing to cost a bit more than the original one and they let me do it.
sjb317 Posted September 28, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 28, 2016 My son and his partner were able to change from a spring break cruise in 2016 to one in 2017, due to the sudden availability of their son for adoption. They called Royal expecting to cancel and lose their money but Royal was more than helpful in helping them switch to another cruise. They are very loyal Royal cruisers now!:D Sherri:)
Rare jc foster Posted September 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2016 I attempted to change from a Carribean to a more expensive cruise in August and of course pay the difference . This was two weeks after final payment, but they refused to do this. Let us know if you are successful.
