coevan Posted November 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Depends on where in the Caribbean, but water temps can definitely drop into the 70's during winter and be unpleasant for some. In the Bahamas, which is a popular spot on Caribbean cruises, it can get into the low 70's during the winter which is quite cold for most. asalligo Posted November 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2016 January and February for me also, April I find too warm, but I can deal with it. Anything closer to summer than that is right out for me.
PROCRUISE Posted November 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Dec-April is very nice. Agree completely however, watch out for college spring break time, often very last part of March into early April. :)
SeagoingMom Posted November 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2016 We have sailed the Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean in March and July. No problems with spring breakers in March, and no significant differences in weather. I know folks who found the weather uncomfortably cold in January. And of course hurricane season (June - November) should be taken into account. It is pretty easy to go online and find climate and weather info for any area of the Caribbean you are interested in. Rare Crew News Posted November 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Anytime between Thanksgiving and Christmas when the cruise and flight prices are probably at their lowest. The weather is perfect during that time period.
navybankerteacher Posted November 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Sea water in the Caribbean rarely falls below high 70's. While the low 80's experienced in late summer and fall might be more attractive to some; you do not only want to think about where you are going - you also want to think about where you are leaving--- if it is from anywhere north of southern Florida, January through March is the best time to get away. While cost is a consideration, value should be considered as well.
Rare geoherb Posted November 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2016 We've been in August, November, December, January, March, and May. All of these months have been fine. Even the August cruise, which had to skip a port due to a hurricane, was wonderful. The seas were perfectly smooth on it since the captain steered us well clear of the storm.
