brenderlou Posted November 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2016 Anyone know if closed toe shoes are necessary for the slide or is sandals/flip flops ok? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
chawkjewel Posted November 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2016 I went in sandals. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare steamboats Posted November 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2016 No closed shoes needed. Your feet are inside the sliding mat. steamboats
Rare dctravel Posted November 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2016 I went in flip flops. You sit in a sort of sack, so shoes really aren't an issue. You cannot wear hats, glasses, or purses, however. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Desert Cruizers Posted November 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2016 Saw a video yesterday on the Abyss from someone post and that looks like fun.
waterbug123 Posted November 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 19, 2016 Anyone know if closed toe shoes are necessary for the slide or is sandals/flip flops ok? Sent from my iPhone using Forums The bottom end of the mat is kind of folded over so it's like your feet are going inside a bag. Thus, no real risk of shoes coming off. If I recall correctly wore flip flops. Didn't see them saying anything to anybody about shoes.
heatherb1958 Posted November 19, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 19, 2016 I did the Abyss 4 times on the TA. One of our party did it in heels and a dress . Not quite recommended but can be done , just have to remember the 'dismount' Whe you get to the bottom. Rare dctravel Posted November 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 19, 2016 They made be take mine off and fold them in the neckline of my shirt. I thought it was odd. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
CanobieFan Posted November 20, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 20, 2016 Thanks for the heads up. I'll be on Harmony in late January and the big slide was one thing I was looking forward to the most. (Pretty much plan on riding it as soon as I get on board!) And I'm a glasses wearer.
Rare steamboats Posted November 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted November 20, 2016 Had to take off my glasses (and put them into the pocket of my slacks ). You are allowed to take a camera but it has to be fixed on your body (chest, head...). And you have to have dry clothes! No wet swim wear allowed. steamboats
Moon Orchid Posted November 20, 2016 #12 Share Posted November 20, 2016 How about zip lining. Do you need to bring tennis shoes ? Thank you.
Clarea Posted November 20, 2016 #13 Share Posted November 20, 2016 How about zip lining. Do you need to bring tennis shoes ? Thank you. They want shows that won't slip off. Sandals with velcro straps were OK. Fliip-flops were not OK.
Rare steamboats Posted November 20, 2016 #14 Share Posted November 20, 2016 They want shows that won't slip off. Sandals with velcro straps were OK. Fliip-flops were not OK. On all three Oasis class ships closed shoes and socks were required for the zip line. If you don´t have any they usually have some of the rock wall climbing shoes available. steamboats

Like everything it must vary by the attendant. They wouldn't let me on the zipline with a pair of lace up Sperry deck shoes that were a lot more secure than my daughters running shoes. Desert Cruizers Posted November 21, 2016 #17 Share Posted November 21, 2016 I can understand the glasses, they wouldn't want them dislodged and poking you in your eyes.
Rare steamboats Posted November 21, 2016 #18 Share Posted November 21, 2016 I can understand the glasses, they wouldn't want them dislodged and poking you in your eyes. Actually there´s no danger of dislodgeing your glasses or poking them into your eyes. The main danger is to hurt your elbows when you don´t keep them close to your body :D! steamboats
CanobieFan Posted November 24, 2016 #19 Share Posted November 24, 2016 I wonder what the real reason is with glasses on the slide. Can you have them on, on the zipline? I did both the Zip and Coaster at Labadee with my glasses on just fine, never asked to remove them or anything. Hell, I ride real roller coasters and such with them on, never lost them or anything. Rare dctravel Posted November 24, 2016 #20 Share Posted November 24, 2016 No, they made me take my glasses of for the zip line too. No hats on either ride either come to think of it. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Rare steamboats Posted November 24, 2016 #21 Share Posted November 24, 2016 I wonder what the real reason is with glasses on the slide. Can you have them on, on the zipline? I had to put them down on Harmony and Oasis. But last year on Allure they had a ribbon to "fix" my glasses to my head (sorry, I don´t even know the German word for that thing, it´s a neopren ribbon) and with that I was allowed to keep my glasses. First time ever I saw what I was doing :D:eek::D! steamboats
CanobieFan Posted November 29, 2016 #22 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Hmm, I think its funny that on the official RCCL site... they show people riding the slide with glasses ON. I wonder if I make a stink about it, they'll me keep mine on. "If glasses aren't allowed, you probably shouldn't show people sliding with glasses on... on your website" and then roll my eyes :P

It's a new RCCL rule... ;) Eric Edited November 29, 2016 by Pomperaugrr
