Kiwi Kruzer Posted November 27, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted November 27, 2016 The Tauranga Port schedule has her last port as Melbourne , and her next port Auckland. Auckland port has her at the port tomorrow and her next port as Newcastle. Looks like a Mystery tour?

Auckland port has her at the port tomorrow and her next port as Newcastle. Looks like a Mystery tour? Interesting, I will have to see what my friend says on FB. I know they went the long way to NZ by going up the NSW coast before heading across and around the North Island due to the weather. Rare MicCanberra Posted November 28, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 28, 2016 There schedule was changed as it was too rough to go across the ditch. Sent from my GT-I9507 using Forums mobile app Via FB, the reports were that they were told 4 days ago (just after Melbourne) that they would be missing the South Island completely and going straight to Tauranga. Beanb41 Posted November 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 28, 2016 (edited) There has been some atrocious weather come up from the deep south and crossing NZ over the past week or so. Hopefully it is about to abate soon. If the ship is tendering and the weather cuts up rough it creates mores more problems than it solves. Some people may get ashore and some may get rapped ashore if tender operations have to be curtailed. If that's the case the ship has to wait until such time as they can get back onboard. Not a pleasant scenario at all. As ships get bigger many of the smaller ports have to get culled from the programme for all sorts of reasons Edited November 28, 2016 by Beanb41
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 28, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 28, 2016 The reports of the seas have been coming in and if they are true, it really has been huge, either that or there is a bit of exaggeration. 10m swells and 100 km/h winds.

SinbadThePorter Posted November 29, 2016 #21 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Yes, some of my friends still reckon that it is the best RCI ship, despite them being on some of the larger ones. Just out of curiosity, is it possible on Radiance to walk out to the bow? Not that I see myself as Leonardo DiCaprio or anything.
AussieCruiser79 Posted November 29, 2016 #22 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Yes easy enough to get on the bow and very cool looking straight down or straight out with the wind and even better if you get up there when no one else is as its a very quiet part of the ship. Rare MicCanberra Posted November 29, 2016 #23 Share Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) Just out of curiosity, is it possible on Radiance to walk out to the bow? Not that I see myself as Leonardo DiCaprio or anything. I have not been on the Radiance, however I have been on numerous ships that have the helicopter deck on the bow. On the ships that I have been on, generally the area is off limits. The Captain will occasionally allow selected guests (those high in the loyalty program, suites, etc,) to go out on the heli pad for special events. For e.g. We were invited to sail into Venice on the Helipad with champagne offered and classical music played all the way in and down the grand canal.:D Edited November 29, 2016 by MicCanberra
Kiwi Kruzer Posted November 30, 2016 Author #24 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Is she similar to Rhapsody? Rhapsody of the Seas is a Vision Class ship....built 1997 Radiance of the Seas is a Radiance Class ship built 2001. You can trace the History and development of RCCL by the different class of ships they built as the years rolled on. Wikipedia has a list of them here... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Caribbean_International
