Rare kjbacon Posted December 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2016 And we are wow-ed! This ship is gorgeous. Our lunch in the world cafe buffet was unbelievably good and everyone has been wonderful. We had issues with our booking so I did not expect to be swept away but they have managed to win me over in just a few hours. More later, off for more exploring. Rare kjbacon Posted December 28, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted December 28, 2016 We loved our day in San Juan; we did the complimentary shore excursion, walking tour of Old San Juan, it was excellent. Food remains fabulous! Don't dismiss The Pool Grill, delicious burgers and salads. We love the lack of commercialism. Today, when disembarking for our tour, we were greeted by smiling, friendly staff giving us bottles of water and mosquito spray instead of the usual "assault" by the photographer to stand next to the lobster for pictures! The ship, while full, is not crowded at all and a seat is easily found anywhere you want to go. No obnoxious announcements to buy this or that, lovely. Demographic is older, general unassuming and friendly people. Dress is very casual and relaxed. Tonight, The Chef's Table ....
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted December 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Glad you're enjoying your cruise so much! Looking forward to our experience in 2018 on the new British Isles itinerary, and it's so great to pre-experience it vicariously through threads like this one. Thanks! Pyroforyou Posted December 29, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Just wondering if you heard what the current incentive offer is to book while on the Star/Sea. We will be leaving soon and was wondering. Thank you. Have fun.
Rare Vineyard View Posted December 29, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 29, 2016 i will be really interested to know which included tours on your journey will consist of full sized busses? I have read that some of the islands will not accommodate these and will only be able to have the larger van type of vehicles.....that makes for a much different experience. Good to know you enjoyed the San Juan tour.....thanks for your updates!
dcsam Posted December 29, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Sounds like you're off to a great cruise. We haven't cruised with Viking (next December), but they're already my favorite cruise line. ;-) Have you noticed any electric wheelchairs/scooters? We have a compact one we're thinking of bringing. Rare kjbacon Posted December 29, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted December 29, 2016 No electric scooters and my understanding is that they are not permitted. The Chefs Table was marvelous, first theme was A Gastonomic Journey Through Time. Cannot wait for our next one! Food and service remain impeccable. Ships motion seems exaggerated to us. Not sure if it's simply because the ship is much smaller than our other cruises or quite what. Off to the beach ... !!

Jay23 Posted December 30, 2016 #13 Share Posted December 30, 2016 When you say "ships motion exaggerated" do you mean you are bobbing up and down and the sea looks calm? Or is the sea choppy so you are bobbing? J
