Casino Comp Chick Posted March 7, 2017 #335 Share Posted March 7, 2017 YES! to a nonsmoking cruise. I absolutely agree with Two Wheels Only that smoking cruises should cost more. If it happens I can guarantee that your prices will go up. The casino/NCL will make up for the loss of revenue somewhere.....care to guess where? Casino Comp Chick Posted March 7, 2017 #336 Share Posted March 7, 2017 No. Smoking on the balcony is a violation of the Guest Conduct Policy. There are exceptions such as "Guests in the Garden Villas may smoke in their private garden and on their private sun decks." The $250 fine would be just the beginning.... FAILURE TO ACT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS POLICY MAY RESULT IN: Intervention by Security, other management personnel or law enforcement Removal of certain onboard privileges, which may include being detained, quarantined or confinement Confiscation of illegal/contraband/prohibited items (may be turned over to law enforcement authorities) and used for prosecution Denial of boarding on the current or any future Norwegian Cruise Line cruise vacation Reporting of incidents to government and law enforcement authorities for follow-on legal action Removal from ship at the next port-of-call. Guests removed from a Norwegian Cruise Line ship pursuant to this policy, are responsible. Documentation requirements for re-entry into the guest’s home country are also the responsibility of the guest. Cigarettes are not illegal, they are not contraband & they are not prohibited items, if they were how could NCL sell them on every ship & at every bar? Just because you copy and paste "rules" does not make them applicable.
Casino Comp Chick Posted March 7, 2017 #337 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Not true about second hand perfume. As an asthmatic, I can categorically tell you how toxic this is to me and other people with chronic pulmonary disease and can in fact trigger an asthma attack which can end up in death. Please, please keep this in mind. While intelligent people totally understand that, the ones that challenge you are the ones that know this does not fit into their agenda so they disregard it. Just because you copy and paste "rules" does not make them applicable. The person asked about violating the Guest Conduct Policy. The person believed that a $250 fine was the worst that could happen. What I posted was what "MAY RESULT". "Removal from ship at the next port-of-call." can happen for violations. While intelligent people totally understand that, the ones that challenge you are the ones that know this does not fit into their agenda so they disregard it. How often do smokers "disregard" the effects of secondhand smoke on non-smokers? (everytime a smoker lights-up in public)
sanger727 Posted March 7, 2017 #339 Share Posted March 7, 2017 While intelligent people totally understand that, the ones that challenge you are the ones that know this does not fit into their agenda so they disregard it. I don't have any breathing problems and can't say I've ever had any physical irritation from someone wearing perfume. I not sure if the poster is implying that strong smells are the irritant in which case I have to assume BO or a freshly cleaned room that smells of antiseptic does the same thing) or if they simply are talking about someone spraying an item near them like perfume or sunscreen. The latter makes sense - spraying sunscreen so it blows into my face is as inconsiderate as smoking in a non smoking area. The analogy to cigarette smoke being similar to perfume is incorrect. If someone goes outside and smokes and then puts the cigarette out and comes back in - that is similar to wearing too much perfume. The person now reeks of cigarette smoke and is as unpleasant to be around as anyone else with a heavy/unpleasant smell. But that's not what anyone is complaining about. Most non smokers won't take issue with it. Actively smoking, however, puts a lung irritating smoke into the air. The only similar comparison you could make with perfume is if the person walks around spraying perfume on and around them everywhere they go. Not a realistic comparison. TravelingAPor Posted March 7, 2017 #340 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Perfume does not set off my asthma but cigarette smoke will. Second hand smoke is also a killer, not perfume odors.

Maybe not an asthma, but allergic reactions and other problems too. In my husband's family everybody have horrible reactions on strong smells including perfumes. NLH Arizona Posted March 7, 2017 #342 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Maybe not an asthma, but allergic reactions and other problems too. In my husband's family everybody have horrible reactions on strong smells including perfumes. I realize that folks can't stand the smell of heavy or some perfumes, but until there are rules and regulations with regard to perfume, there is really nothing one can do but deal with it. Where as, with smoking, there are rules and regulations and to equate the two, really doesn't make much sense to me, since one has rule and regulations and the other doesn't. BTW, I've always thought that cruise lines should write a note in the daily with regard to too much perfume, because (especially us older folks whose smell isn't what it use to be) some wear a little too much. TravelingAPor Posted March 7, 2017 #344 Share Posted March 7, 2017 On some NCL ships you need to cut through the Casino, to get to the other side of the ship. I would not willingly expose myself to cigarette smoke!
Two Wheels Only Posted March 7, 2017 #345 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Theirs 3 areas where you can smoke on NCL ships and if you don't like them walk elsewhere it isn't that difficult If secondhand smoke was contained in the smoking areas, you'd have a point. The fact that secondhand smoke travels to other areas (which are non-smoking) is a problem.

Just because you copy and paste "rules" does not make them applicable. The "rules" are written to include illegal substances that can be smoked, including but not limited to, marijuana and crack cocaine. As for all the money that NCL would lose, really? Smokers are in the minority and I bet that the casinos, etc. would be filled quickly with non-smokers who choose to protect their lungs and avoid them now. Most of us respect your "right" to smoke; we don't recognize your right to infringe on the health and well-being of others.
