Happily@Sea Posted March 5, 2017 #227 Share Posted March 5, 2017 Check out books by William Miller. He is another maritime history author. His books include those about HAL. Thank you - I will.
Rare Copper10-8 Posted March 5, 2017 #228 Share Posted March 5, 2017 It's not a horn, even though it sounds like it, it's a ship's whistle - trivia question :D
AV8rix Posted March 5, 2017 #229 Share Posted March 5, 2017 Sorry not to see Rotterdam but gotta go. Fun talking to you all. I've never posted that much here, usually just lurk. Thank you Peter, Lou, and Dave.
rkacruiser Posted March 5, 2017 #230 Share Posted March 5, 2017 I forgot that this picture was there. I just got out my copy of Liners to the Sun and on its cover is a photo of my all time favorite cruise ship: Rotterdam V!
Boytjie Posted March 5, 2017 Author #231 Share Posted March 5, 2017 Strange Cruise Critic question while we wait for behemoth to move out of the way. On my laptop I do not have the multiple quote button. On my iPad I do.:confused:Anybody else missing it? I have the multiple quote button, but it does not work the few times I have tried to use it. It is working for me.
Rare Scrapnana Posted March 5, 2017 #232 Share Posted March 5, 2017 It also changed on mine, but if you hold the your mouse over the one with two apostrophe signs & the + sign on it, the multiquote looks like it is there. That is missing entirely on laptop. Just have the "quote and arrow (for quick reply).

rkacruiser Posted March 5, 2017 #238 Share Posted March 5, 2017 Good to see Rotterdam VI underway. During the 2016 VOV there was a port, I think in Norway, that due to the winds we were "plastered against the pier" close to sailing time. Her thrusters were not strong enough to get us off the pier. Fortunately, at sailing time, the wind decreased and the Captain Mateboer was able to sail.

Happily@Sea Posted March 5, 2017 #241 Share Posted March 5, 2017 She looks so tiny. Looks like that size gives her an advantage against the wind - or it's died down some.
