OK so as you can see, there's no escape from the sun, even on such a big balcony

So I retreated to another favourite spot - Il Cappuccino

For a Caramel Coffee Frost

Hi Pete, we got back from our B2B on Splendida on Friday, I did a review of our time onboard.

OMG those Caramel Coffee frosts, we had those for dessert instead of dessert in the MDR.

On the first cruise they were charging for the food in the Sports Bar and the cakes in the Patisserie on the second cruise everything was free !

I put 6lbs on , coming off quickly though. We are also flying to Dubai on Emirates this coming Sunday.

Continue with the review please, always enjoy seeing other's photos

Not tried the sports bar and the cakes etc are included in our Allegrissimo Premium package. How did you find Splendida?

Great review so far Pete. We'll be embarking in 10 days and looking forward to a wonderful cruise. Since you seem to be enjoying this one so much, for your next MSC cruise book a suite in Yacht Club. It's MUCH better.
To be honest the Yacht Club is too expensive in my opinion for what we need from a cruise and I'd only consider it if 1) I could afford it and 2) only when they allow you to drink at all bars not just the exclusive Yacht Club bar. I like a variety of venues and not restricted to one place. I know that maybe changing so maybe one day.

FYI and others

From the MSC web site, Yacht Club Information

*From Summer 2017, unlimited beverage selection will also be available in all bars and restaurants of the ship according to the drink selection available in each venue

Definitely we're all different. We wouldn't consider anything but a balcony as we spend a lot of time in our cabin and balcony.

Tex mex complimentary dinner tonight. No offer of choosing from standard al la carte as a complementary alternative, although given the Samsung tablet to view the menu to pay full price. Anyway stayed with the Voyagers Club menu and enjoyed the quesadilla, steak and mango creme dessert. Early night tonight as the meeting time for our dhow cruise in Khasab is 7:30 am yikes!

We loved the ship and had a great time onboard.

Just saw your post re the Voyager club meal. Ours on Splendida in the Tex mex was awful, I thought the quesadillas were like Findus frozen pancakes . Do you have any pics to compare ? .

My steak was mainly fat. Only thing we liked was the mango dessert and my coconut margarita.

Sorry no pics but ours weren't like Findus and the steaks had no fat whatsoever.

Pete, if you get a chance, could you possibly check how the passengers pay to play the slot machines in the casino? i.e. insert your cruise-card to play? or cash only (and if so which currency?}? I did ask this on the general MSC board but had mixed responses and Mrs. Kernel does like to spin the reels a touch :D

If you could confirm if you're passing the casino. If that's not your bag, no problem, I'm sure I'll find out shortly!

Cheers :beer-toast:

As a regular slot machine player in MSC casinos I can tell you that you can use cash or your cruisecard. The currency will depend on what currency is used onboard.

Thanks Bea, we did donate to the casino last night but used Euro notes and only saw the question afterwards, but was going to check today.

Pete ................ they've replaced 'Italian night' with 'Mediterranean night' with pale green table runners and the waiters wearing pale green aprons and bowties. I was told that this is going to be introduced across the itineraries and the red/white/green uniforms are all being replaced with this new pale green colour. I'm assuming that the colour was chosen to represent the green olives of the Med.

As to the casino, the worst thing they introduced was the ability to use your cruisecard for credit - it's just too easy! I'm really going to have to get disciplined and only bring cash with me 'cos my casino budget just gets blown out of the water otherwise.
