Taking our non-latitudes parents/friends to the Gold / Platinum check in.

My husband and I are Gold, all four of our parents are not. When we cruise with them, we've always taken the whole group to the Gold check-in and asked the staff 'can we all come through together?'. The staff have always treated it like a silly question: "Of course you can!"

Next month we're travelling with four friends - also non-latitudes. What should we do? Send them to the regular line and we go off without them?

Opinions please....

There is usually a greeter or NCL person directing the arriving guests where to go !

Ask the question - I am sure that you will be accommodated if all of your party is

right there and together.

Only in the case of guests in Suites Gardens Havens are those folks directed to

a different check-in queue and then to a separate area to await the butler escort onboard.

never tried it, but I have heard no problem: I guess the only answer is just to ask the greeter. When we checked in a couple of weeks ago the lady just asked if we were latitude and directed us to the correct line.

Personally, it would depend on the time you are checking in. If there are a lot of other latitudes members, I would either split up or go with my friends to the normal lines, since I would not want to inconvenience other latitude members....Common Courtesy.

...the safest options...
I agree, from an 'avoidance of the embarrassment of getting turned away' point of view.

Another key point. I think being all present and correct with documents in hands (instead of bags!) and being polite and friendly works wonders!

... I would not want to inconvenience other latitude members.
Me neither - there are enough 'entitled' passengers who think they own the ship without me and my friends joining in!

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your opinions.

im wondering the same thing. we are dying to check out for the first time the Platinum early board deal. but we are travling with 2 others who i think may be bronze, at most (they normally cruise RCCL). we are always early birds, so i supposed to can just get boarding card 2 with them.

We did not want to split last month when checking in(my wife and I were in a suite, my BIL, SIL and 3 kids were not). We all went to the Platinum line. I was the first to check in and I was told that I could check in in the suite lounge. I explained that we all wanted to check in together. She said no problem and brought us all to the suite lounge were we all checked in. The concierge was more than happy to do it.

Best. Show up around 10:15 when all lines are the same length. Everyone goes to their respective lines.

Second Best. The port people are NOT NCL employees. And for the most part could care less. Just ask for the gold line (without all of the details on who is who) and go stand in line. Don't ask the minimum wage greeter to adjudicate NCL corporate policies.

Have a great cruise.

Some surprising responses here from some posters who have complained before about non-eligible cruisers getting benefits they don't deserve. Hmmmm.

To the O.P. MY opinion would be to go in the other line with your friends if you absolutely need to board with them. I'm one of those people who try to go by the rules to be fair to other passengers who I am not sailing with. Is it a big deal either way? No, not really.

What if I am Platinum. My companion is Bronze. Traveling with 3 other couples different cabins first time NCL. All arrive at the same time. Which line? You could probably get away with everyone using the Platinum line but would that be fair or even right. And you know nobody else would know. This will be how you start your cruise just so everyone gets on sooner than the other cruisers. So go ahead and do what you feel comfortable with. Have a great cruise.

Great observation. This is a conflict I have within myself as well. I want my crew and me to get the best possible experience. But at the same time when I'm boarding an aircraft and some oik from Economy gets in front of me, I'll be the first to have them removed. I think the key here is

...Common Courtesy...
....If we would be delaying other Golds (or - worse - Platinum and above), then we all take our rightful places in the 'First Timers' queue.

The number of times I've seen that Disney-style queue move faster than the Platinum and Suites lines... we might just do that anyway!
