coolcruiser777 Posted August 8, 2017 #201 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Odd. I am surprised they let him act like that. I would stay far away from that guy. lol He was the talk of the ship and all the crew knew about him, but they apparently couldn't do anything about it. SquishTheWhale Posted August 8, 2017 #202 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Here's the video... You can't hear anything besides background noise in the video, so I added music. Omg. Can't believe none of the crew even approach him. Kind of seems like he has learning difficulties and should have had a carer with him.
pltraveler Posted August 8, 2017 #203 Share Posted August 8, 2017 On the very first Silhouette cruise our whole table was catching the sniffles so we asked the head waiter to have the chef prepare us chicken noodle soup ...easy enough right ..Well they did not know what it was .....had no clue ...gave us some crazy concoction nothing like chicken soup .They said they never heard of chicken noodle soup .......really .....where are you from ???? .i wrote a critique of the food ..on the last night of the cruise .....in rome I got a call from Celebrity the day after I got home from Miami .....yup that fast ...wanting details ...i told them food was very subpar ... I told them to send the executive chef to teach those cooks how to cook ...many things were off ..They must have cause my friend went on Silhouette a few months later and said food was great ...glad I could help ....lol Who does not know how to make chicky soup ??I even offered to show them how ....lol I remember this well Michelle. Soup was awful. Hope you and your family are well.

hawkman402 Posted August 8, 2017 #205 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Once I was having breakfast in the ships buffet on a sea day and they were playing the Theme from Titantic. I did note the irony. Apparently, no one checked the musak play list. We were on the Dawn a few years ago in the main dining room> There was a piano player there and he played that song. My wife and I just looked at each other trying not to laugh.
Daddy's_Princess Posted August 8, 2017 #206 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Omg. Can't believe none of the crew even approach him. Kind of seems like he has learning difficulties and should have had a carer with him. Maybe he was dropped on to the ship because his carer was away on holiday. Figured he'd get in as little trouble as possible, he'd be fed, and there's security.

Figured he'd get in as little trouble as possible' date=' he'd be fed, and there's security.[/quote'] He was on the ship for three weeks, and this was his second. Apparently he started out with a family member (sister or mother, I forget), but then they left him to fend for himself for two weeks. That could be possible, though. The whole thing was very, very strange.
riddle Posted August 9, 2017 #208 Share Posted August 9, 2017 This wasn't weird but just plain fun. I was travelling solo my last cruise. I stopped in the buffet to grab a bite to eat. The buffet was pretty empty and I sat down at a table for two. A few minutes later a man came up and sat in the chair across from me. He said something to this effect: "Honey I have been looking all over for you. I am glad I finally found you". There was a lone women sitting two tables over who then said "get over here" to him. We all had a good laugh. Apparently, it is something he does as a ruse from time to time. We ended up chatting for about an hour. Turned out his wife and I both had similar positions and we had a lot to talk about. 1
Azure Moon Posted August 9, 2017 #209 Share Posted August 9, 2017 NCL Spirit in Turkey (2013) After having breakfast and before the ship docked, hubby and I were walking at the front of the ship looking at the city. There was a large bird on the deck eating a huge grasshopper.
fairygirl1 Posted August 9, 2017 #210 Share Posted August 9, 2017 Last cruise on the Gem (4-29 - 5-6-17) an older couple showed up to breakfast and lunch everyday at Cagney's dressed in what looked like homemade matching Dashiki like outfits. Apparently they cruise the Gem every couple of weeks. We cruised with them in march ! My hubby struck up a conversation with him! Several nights he showed up in full dress Marine uniform! 😊
juju2454 Posted August 9, 2017 #211 Share Posted August 9, 2017 We were on the BA in January and the 12 day it was rough and very windy, we were at the Martini bar and the outside doors near it would open with people coming in and the wind would knock over our Martini glasses, full or empty. So the crew called to the ship control, and asked that the door be locked. We sat there for 2 hours with others just watching people try to come in the door with a huge sign on it saying it was locked. Even some pounding on it and when we would all say it was locked they would still try the button to open it. It was entertaining for sure!!
jobey Posted August 9, 2017 #212 Share Posted August 9, 2017 On our first cruise on the Star we were in the casino late at night and the bar was about to close. This woman stumbled in and ordered a drink. The bar was still open but the two gentlemen working there declined to serve her due to the fact that she could barely stand. They had to repeatedly refuse service to her because she would not accept "no". She went on and on, calling them every nasty name she could think of and they were just as nice and polite as they could be. It must have taken her a half hour to give up. And then there was the guy next to me in the Illusionarium on the Getaway. I made several hints to the fact that he was way over into my area, so much that my wife had to move around to the end of the table because there wasn't enough room for both of us. He ignored our requests. Next, he ordered a glass of red wine and proceeded to dump a pile of ice into it and the one belonging to the woman next to him. darlene62 Posted August 10, 2017 #213 Share Posted August 10, 2017 So this is the second time posting on this thread...not the weirdest thing I seen but experienced. I was in the Haven 2 bdr and sharing with a friend. One night we had gone our own way to different activities. I had returned to a darken suite around 10. A few minutes I heard a knock at the door and it was someone from NCL to fix the toilet....I was confused, didn't know we had a toilet issue. I was staying in the large suite and told him he could check it out...no leak. So i told him he could check the smaller room. A few seconds later I heard a scream..it made me jump..apparently my "partier" friend that was planning on staying out all night had pooped out and gone to bed early. I didnt even know she was in the room..she was a bit startled to be woken up to a man in her room checking out the toilet :) LMAO I am pretty certain it caused his heart rate to jump a bit too :). Apparently our room steward had noticed a small leak and reported it. My friend is in her 60's and we love sharing the story how she woke up to a cute man in her room :)

melobstah55 Posted August 10, 2017 #216 Share Posted August 10, 2017 :cool:So 3 years ago on the Dawn we were just heading out of Bermuda past St George and hit sand! Ship went sideways.. back up right and stopped... The day before my husband and daughter went half day fishing so I stayed on board.. Crew regularly do drills for emergencies, different codes are announced and crew are called to their stations, never heard this happening before because we are all ways off ship when docked. So when we hit sand hearing all the codes and announcements on loud speaker were so real and scarey! St George was outside close by and NCL handled everything perfectly.. We were all fine, stayed extra day but made it back on time Friday morn. Captain booked it!! News stated ship lost at sea.. Manned lifeboats! Geez we were right beside St George!!

StCroixCruiser Posted August 10, 2017 #219 Share Posted August 10, 2017 I was on the NCL Jade last winter for a 12 night Caribbean cruise, traveling solo in an inside cabin as I was able to get time off from work unexpectedly and booked what they had left available. Eight different evenings, I had between 3-8 crew members show up in my cabin following my shower before dinner. Before I could dry off. Before I could get dressed. Apparently the inside cabins get steamed up during a shower and it sets off the smoke alarm. The first time it happened, they called my stateroom phone and I answered and told them there wasn't a fire, just some steam from the shower. Didn't matter that I was there and reassured them. NCL sends crew into the cabins no matter what. I quit even bothering to grab a towel after about the 4th time. The last night of the cruise the comedian doing the final show included this special Jade experience in his monologue. He thought it was awesome that the Jade sent geishas to dry him off after every shower.
Blondie008 Posted August 11, 2017 #220 Share Posted August 11, 2017 NOT on an NCL ship but so bizarre its worth mentioning. On costa cruises you do get used to hearing announcements in several different languages The show however, one evening in one of the lounges, was a ventriloquist - and indeed - he performed his entire repertoire in English, Italian, German, Spanish and French  Poor dummy must have been exhausted! :') On the same cruise - we were alarmed one morning when the loud beep went off in the cabin which was followed by a very loud announcement of "F&^% YOU ONLY" - "F&^% YOU ONLY" - It took us a moment to decipher the announcers statement which was in fact "For Crew Only"...... ;p
SNJCruisers Posted August 11, 2017 #221 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Since some of the Brits had mentioned that they were not familiar with chicken noodle soup, I'm sure the same could be said about American chefs having no clue about "spotted dick".
