Can I get $100.00 bills changed into $20.00 bills on board for shore excursions? Or should I do it before I get on board.

I always bring hundred dollar bills and never have a problem breaking them at guest services. Just make sure you plan ahead because there can be a long line.

It's my understanding that the kiosks can provide change for larger bills.

Just to be on safe side, I'd do it before, never had that problem on ship before but on land smaller newer bills.

I usually go to the bank and get $100 in ones and fives to use for tips and to have small bills to buy at the local markets sometimes they say they don't have change so you will buy more if you only have 20s

As mentioned, Guest Services and Kiosk I always get bills broke (or donate) in the Casino. I also agree you want to take small bills for purchases on land.

I do it before we board. I don't want to waste my vacation time standing in line at guest services. The kiosk is okay but it can still be a little slow...and you can't get singles from the kiosk.

Yes, you can.

 

I do it beforehand only because I find it more convenient.

Do it at the Kiosk. I have done it with with $50's but not sure how it works with $100's IIRC, and if I am not I am confident some will gladly correct me, it automatically breaks your bill down to the next highest bill(s). For example, if you put in $100, it will give you two $50's. Put in a $50, two 20's an a $10. I think you continue with this pattern until you put in a $5 to get five $1. But don't be concerned, breaking the $100 down into small bills would take less than 3 minutes...or about 1/10 the time you would be waiting in line at GS.

for those wondering about the long line at GS, GS is open 24/7 times. I found the best times to go is around midnight or early in the morning. No one is there, no line

I've always planned in such a way I don't need Guest Services but have been affected by those times when trying to get off the glass elevators near them is problematic. General rule based on my observation is plan ahead, don't use guest services if you can avoid it.

I always enjoy going to guest services to do this - because they are always happy to get a request that is so easy to fulfill. EM

The casino is a great place to do this as there is usually not a long line and what there is moves quickly. I have had 1 person in the past who said they don't break large bills so I went straight to a slot machine, put the $100 bill in it, pushed cash out and went right back and cashed in the ticket for $10's and $20's. Problem solved.

Walk right up to the casino cage and they'll give you whatever you want and usually not many winners cashing out so lines are short if any :)

The one problem with exchanging big bills in the casino is that it's not open 24/7. Close, but not quite.

 

Also, as mentioned above, the kiosks won't break $5 bills.
