shellunderwater Posted June 16, 2017 #26 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Contacted Club Royale at day 30. They advised by email that I needed to have my TA (who happens to be my DD) call and they will apply the OBC. Cruise was originally booked with the TA. Was told they would re-price, but it is only about a $40 increase. No brainer there. Finally, MyVegas is paying off for something. Haven't been able to get to Vegas for real. closecruiser Posted June 16, 2017 #27 Share Posted June 16, 2017 I just redeemed some points too. I booked with a TA so we shall see what happens. Hopefully. I get th OBC. Fingers crossed too. Tried to redeem, it was a NO go....
gaylemh Posted June 20, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 20, 2017 Tried to redeem, it was a NO go.... Did they say why? I know I was told it you couldn't use it if you already had a casino certificate applied. It was one or the other.

shellunderwater Posted June 20, 2017 #30 Share Posted June 20, 2017 Update: We got our $250 OBC. And they charged us $38 more due to the new price. BUT.... The new price included $125 in OBC. Soooo.... my cruise planner now shows $375 OBC. For $38. Almost makes me smile as much as being on an actual cruise. :) :)

I had to use it on new booking. I had purchased the cruise a few weeks prior. I never think about using the points before I book. I just happen to see this post and thought I'd see if I could use the points. Sure would have been nice.

I just happen to see this post and thought I'd see if I could use the points. Sure would have been nice. I was able to use the reward on a cruise I booked 22 days prior. cruisegirl1 Posted June 20, 2017 #33 Share Posted June 20, 2017 I was told a cruise had to be booked within the past 14 days. Luckily I was within the time frame. It also had to be a cruise that had no casino pricing. Oh, and it had to be prior to final payment. After jumping through the hoops, I was happy to see the OBC. LIC Posted June 21, 2017 #34 Share Posted June 21, 2017 I booked a cruise about 3 weeks with my ta and had given up on getting my obc after reading on here but then figured to just go for it. I just followed the directions on the game site and received my email shortly after. Then I again just followed directions received with email and less than 24 hours later I have obc. I booked in Canadian funds in Canada and had no problems getting it. Perhaps the problem lies in trying to get the discount on the cruise and not the obc. Actually pretty simple. I just wish i had been playing longer and had more obc built up. Hi I am Canadian and booked a cruise a couple of days ago. I paid my deposit in Canadian dollars. I redeemed my rewards today for an OBC. Sent the email to club royale as instructed. However, the rep emailed back and stayed I could not redeem my OBC because I booked in Canadian funds. Any tips on how to resolve this? Thanks!!
Luckybee Posted June 21, 2017 #35 Share Posted June 21, 2017 I don't think you'll be able to, at least we couldn't. It is absolute nonsense as is the explanation they give for it which I posted about in a different thread. Dh just went back and forth with them and the only suggestion that could be made was to cancel and rebook paying in US $ (which we are NOT going to do since we would then pay an extra premium with our CC ). The worst of it is that it isn't like RCCL is giving a great discount on the exchange rate either. Imho it is just an easy way for them to avoid redemptions with myvegas. As an aside, it isn't listed anywhere in the terms and conditions, rather this is what they concluded in the last email to my husband(who had indicated that he had read the terms and conditions and couldn't find anywhere that this "policy " was mentioned), which was almost enough to have us cancel our our Royal suite and go back to NCL because quite frankly we both found this brush off response offensive. The portion that is relevant to the pricing/currencyissue is shown in the full context in brackets, but it states: “Only valid for new reservations made through Royal Caribbean Reservations at clubroyale@rccl.com.”Because the reservations that have MyVegas Rewards applied are specified as having to be made through the Club Royale department, and because Club Royalebookings are made exclusively in US currency, this prohibits us from applying the reward to a booking made in Canadian currency. This is our final comment on the subject. Nice eh?? Good luck ....they seem very customer oriented don't they = Not...I have to admit though that we chuckled about this ! Dh and I both are self employed and deal with clients daily and I know how quickly we'd be out of business if we said the following. Must be nice to be in a business where one can say this sort of thing to a customer.... As I said to him, imagine telling one of our clients in a 3rd email , "This is our final comment on the subject"...

Canadian12 Posted July 27, 2017 #37 Share Posted July 27, 2017 We are from Canada and unable to get OBC with reservation in Canadian $, we had to cancel and rebook in US $ and pay in full. Also unable to transfer to our TA once it's paid in full. Does anyone know if the OBC is good for casino gaming? Thanks

Thanks You can take the money out at the cashier on your seapass and it will be applied against your OBC. There is also a 5% fee, unless you have a vip sticker on your card. MCruise2017 Posted July 28, 2017 #40 Share Posted July 28, 2017 I've had a heck of a time understanding these as well. My cruise isn't until April and we were going to book in October. First timers. Is that too far out, should we book earlier? And then is the 30 day rule 30 days within booking the cruise or actually cruising? I see that it looks like it can be used along with another OBC offer, which is great, but I'm curious, is it one per cabin, or if my husband and I both MyVegas can we get two OBC offers? dcinns Posted July 28, 2017 #42 Share Posted July 28, 2017 I tried to use the 5% discount reward and ran into the same issues where I paid in Canadian funds. They said I had to pay in USD in order to use any My Vegas rewards. It would have cost me 15% more to get 5% off due to a special resident rate that had at the time. I too received the " this is the last comment on this matter" email! Have to say I wasn't thrilled with their lack of customer service! Seems too good to be true... we were on Princess in January and unable to use OBC on casino nor cash out. You can get a cash advance against your onboard account at the casino anyting, for a 5% fee. If you have refundable OBC left, you can get that in case from Guest Services on the last day for no fee.
Seacruise Posted July 28, 2017 #44 Share Posted July 28, 2017 I just booked a cruise 2 weeks ago from Canada in CAD. I applied for the $250 OBC and sent a email off (on a Sunday even though it says Monday to Friday) and 5 minutes later I got a reply saying that the credit was applied. It is on my account and now used. I had friend who applied from Canada that booked with a US TA in USD and was denied the credit because the group that the TA had put together had "Perks" and thus no credit. No double dipping. I think it is crap shoot on how this works on any given day or who you get.

When you redeem the points, you will have the opportunity to direct the OBC to the cruise of your choice. You will have to enter the name of the ship and sailing date. I also enter the booking number in the notes section.
