Disappointed with Crown and Anchor points

Recommended Posts

I would like to see royal give points for extra stuff. You purchase on the ship like food and drink packages, excursions, casino and etc. If I was royal Caribbean, I would want a ship full of big spenders.

We just came back from the Oasis of the Seas and had a wonderful cruise. I had booked two cabins - and was excited to think about the points I would get to help me move up to the next level. That excitement ended when I found out that even though as a family and we paid for both cabins - I only got credit for one of the cabins on my C and A number because my husband has a different number and he got credit for the other cabin. I just booked another cruise for my whole family, this time with three cabins and now find out the credit will be split between three different people even though I booked them and am paying for all three as a family. This is so disappointing to me as this will take forever to rise up through the C and A levels. Even with hotel points you can book rooms under that same rewards number and get the points for all rooms not just one. So unfair.

Not true about earning hotel points for multiple rooms. I am a Marriott Rewards Platinum member, and she you have multiple rooms booked, you get the points for one room.

They did test that idea a couple of years back (on at least one ship, maybe a couple) and since they didn't implement it I would assume that the test was not successful.

Just make sure you register them for crown and anchor otherwise their points will be lost.

And if you refer them through the "Bring a Friend" link in your Crown and Anchor account, you will get $25 on board credit for each of them! Note that this only works for "friends" over 18. You can not get the referral bonus for minors (but they can have C&A accounts).

Actually that isn't accurate...Marriott is 10 points per dollar spent no matter how many rooms you get.

If you host a group or event you even get points for rooms you don't pay for although that's rare.

Not going to argue the point with you, even though what I said about booking multiple rooms is correct.

Group bookings, as you mentioned are handled differently from booking three rooms for your family.

Check with Marriott Rewards.

I did and have done it before. Here is a good summary. Don't let the front desk tell you otherwise.

You should take a trip through all the threads where the Platinums/Diamonds etc etc are asking about other cruise lines because the C&A program does nothing to keep them loyal............

Not being snarky, just pointing out this might not be the biggest thing to get worked up about. Now Peppermills, THOSE are big concerns around here.

Do take care when booking Cabins in regular and js class and say you have more C&A points than spouse but your name is on cabin in Reg. So you get 1 point and spouse gets 2 per night. You would not get double points since spouse has fewer points and therefore would not add additional points to your total. Learned the hard way but did enjoy the cruise.

You always want to put the member with the most points in the suite or solo. Caught onto that quick.

We found out on the Enchantment one time that Royal Caribbean owned Admiral Cruise Lines. We had cruised on that line at one time for 3 days. We called Royal after we returned home and after they checked everything out, they gave us points for that cruise. Was really surprised, but happy they did that.

I had paid for 3 cabins when I took my family on a cruise, but, I only got points for my cruise, not for my families cruise.

I thought I heard, not too long ago, that they are going to give points according to how much money you spend on a cruise. Does anyone know anything about that? I'm hoping it's just a wild rumor.

Holland does that. I've not heard of Royal moving in that direction. I would sooner expect them to move to a more graduated point system based on stateroom category, like that on Celebrity now.

Actually a Marriott Rewards member may book and earn reward points for up to 3 rooms provided the member pays for the all 3 rooms.

You are correct that you will only earn "elite" night credits, that count towards status, for 1 room. Since C & A points only count for status, Marriott is the same, 1 "status" point for each night even if you pay for 3 rooms.

Skip straight to the airline model - points directly related to $ spent. Save everyone the agony of going through the Celebrity baby step for a few years.

RC C&A point system is fair. We will sail Sunday on the Allure in a JS, we booked and paid for 3 other cabins for family, we will only get double points for us, nothing the others.

Hope you have a fantastic cruise.

Register your family and they will get the points for the cabins they are in.

I've booked 2 hotel rooms, one for my parents & one for us, under my rewards number several times with different hotel chains, and only ever received points for one room :(
