Disappointed with RCL/Allure.

Recommended Posts

Drsel- as someone who handles marketing for a casino you have to lose A LOT. I have players that lose $200k a year that haven't been given a cruise, unless it's a group cruise where the casino is booking a large number of rooms and sending staff as well.

That is WAY off....My sister got a free cruise offer from our local casino in Wisconsin for RCCL---She gambles about 10k a year. We are taking the cruise in 2 months.

Just got back from zip lining and swimming and some of these responses are just wow.

It doesn't matter if I'm a male or female. Why should it? Having my mother watch my son while I'm out gambling, drinking or going to church doesn't matter. Why should it?

My request was a pillow and blanket so my mom can sleep on the couch while I'm out. That was it. The steward asked me if she was moving in. I didnt mention that.

I don't know any of you and none of you know me. I've owned several restaurants and owned a night club in San Francisco. I know what customer service is. If I didn't I wouldn't have been successful with my businesses.

If I saw my bar back grab a customer's glass with a dirty look, he/she would have had a talking to. Because that unsatisfied customer may not come back and that hurts my bottom line.

I'm very partial to people in the service industry. Having had restaurants and having to work in them I know how hard it is to serve people. I know there are great people and there are difficult people you must deal with all day. Having experience that I am very aware of not being in the same class as 'difficult people'.

Doesn't matter if this is RCL, Ncl, Xxx whatever cruise lines. If I'm given attitude when none was given I'll be irked.

I came on cruise critic to share how I felt and more than anything to vent because I am passive aggressive and won't say anything unless it's really egregious.

Having vented, I seem to have triggered so many as if Im bashing their child. Like some poster who bashes my children and never even met anyone of them. This was my first critique thread and will probably be my last. To those with kind words and tips thanks.

So far my cruise has been better. The casino was very good to me even though baccarat isn't my game of choice, it was very kind to me.

My steward has had a change of attitude and comes by asking if I need anything constantly. When he asked if I needed my room turned down for the night and if I needed the couch made, I said no its fine. He kept asking in an apologetic tone. Maybe he was having a bad day. I get that and that's why I wasn't going to complain to anyone higher up.

Still annoyed me and I vented.

Here's to a great rest of my cruise, cheers.

There are some on here that will stick up for their favorite cruise lines no matter what. You are allowed to vent, and if you felt you were getting attitude you probably were. I sailed on Anthem in April and everyone was great except for the future cruise desk. I found them to be rude and not full of information. It seems the question I asked meant they had to look something up, they kept me waiting and didn't even look it up. So yes there are RCL employees who are not the best. As far as the food is concerned my DH and I found Carnival (yes Carnival) to be it equal and at times even better. And there are less places to eat late at night on RCL then we were used to. And now that room service is a charge its not so easy to just order up those fries. You complain if you want to. To those who don't like it they will post any way-just ignore.

As a side note, I also like to gamble but the most I ever get is an offer for $50 in free play-never a cruise (LOL). Try to enjoy, it will get better. And if not tell the casino that you want an NCL cruise next time.

Who is the casino host? Our upcoming MJ us a Club Royale cruise

Never saw them on MJ July 4 weekend cruise. When I showed up at their desk on Friday, there was a pit boss passing out the stickers. He said the Host was with the ships Doctor. I'm guessing they were sick the entire weekend.

I don't believe this. My highest comps have actually come when I left with winnings. I believe it has more to do with bets each play + time spent playing.

OP, for what it's worth I appreciated your perspective. I'm a former (and I guess possibly future) NCL cruiser and I've got a feeling the food is going to be a step down on my first upcoming RCL.
LOL...You have a "FEELING"....Sure you do...

I just got back from the casino. It was not kind to me tonight.

I understand my first post may have upset some that love RCL.

I was just venting. Maybe my situation is different than others. I just expected something that I didn't get.

Some posters say I should give it more than a day, but my experience never took a day on a different cruise line, maybe the bar was set too high in my mind.

I could get in I specifics but is it necessary? It is what it is.

I didn't post this to make anyone upset. Heck I signed up here long ago when I was given my first cruise to research. My first post was towards another member who like me was gifted cruises and wanted to know how it compared.

I could go on. Im a little tipsy, heck the casino finally called a host to to greet me when they saw me play. Gave some special sticker on my card that says VIP.. took two days. Other cruise lines greeted me when I boarded. It s the little things. Maybe I'm coming from a different situation as others, and that's why I feel the way I did.

My situation may not be the same as others and maybe that's my mistake.

Reading all these replies, I realize I should have just not posted.

You can believe what you'd like, I can only speak for the casinos I've done marketing for. I'm given the numbers from above on what coin in/table play earns what. And yes you'll get comps when you win- they want you to stay and give them the money back. If casinos where just comp'ing away they wouldn't be spending millions on machines, renovations etc.

It's my understanding that Casino Royale rewards slots players better than table players.

As a relative outcome, this may be true b/c slot play is simply easier and more quantitatively tracked than table play but I don't think it's designed to be that way. I think the reality is that in order to be a highly comped table player you have to be noticed while a high roller slots player's play level is identified through the points he/she accumulates. Of course, the table player accumulates points too but it's just not quite as systematic for us.

I believe, and I will always believe, that the "trick" to getting rewards with Club Royale is 1) being known and identified in the casino by the host/manager and pit bosses and 2) time spent in the casino, in that order. There have been cruises where we have spent just as much money and just as much time in the casino as we always do BUT the casino management just was not out observing the players. Our rewards were minimal. For cruises where management was always around, knew our names and personally witnessed our play level and time in the casino, and those rewards have ALWAYS been the best.

These are just my personal observations.

On my last day.

Will give RCL another chance since I was given another cruise, but will probably try their Asia itinerary. I was talking to some players at the tables and they like that itinerary a lot.

For those that think it's not possible to get free RCL cruises. Names and numbers blocked out to protect the innocent.. 9b17048d670eb8e52e4df10580780001.jpg

That's what I was thinking..

If this is your first RC cruise, how do they know they love you so much, based on your casino play, that they comped you a suite. I have been on these boards a very long time and have NEVER heard of such.

Well it's my first RCL cruise and they loved me enough to comp me on my first time on board.

Now you heard of such..

True, I should have said comped a cruise.

Lol, and congrats. Even with all the heat thanks for reporting in during your sailing. Hopefully your next RC experience starts better than this one and ends with more money in your pocket than what you arrived with. :D

And I can only comment as a player and not a marketing person. I only speak from experience. Losses don't seem to matter much on Royal.

My earlier comment wasn't about Royal, it was regarding the comment about how Much s player on land would have to "play" to have gotten a cruise comd'd by a casino (as the OP is new to Royal it wasn't comp'd by Royal for his play)

Yes. Congrats. We have had a few of these. I would be interested to know if first two numbers of Certificate were 16 or something else.

Thanks for the well wishes. It starts with a 17. I'm assuming it's the year?

The cruise turned out alright. I'm going to still say the food wasn't as good and the after 11pm food options were bad.

Had a great bartender in the Martini bar. He had a new bottle of Oban 14 ready for me. That was great. Also we discussed different cruise itineraries with RCL hes worked on. He said the Asia and European cruises are better in his opinion. So that's what I'm going to do on my next RCL cruise, try out Asia.

Met some really nice people in the casino, who I played with a lot.

The rock wall was fun, kids liked it.

Also word of advice. Watch the spending limits on your kids cards. They love the arcade and swiped their cards like no tomorrow.

Late night food options are not that good. The Asian market is big in the Casino.
