Rare Copper10-8 Posted September 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) After all the misery of Hurricane Irma, Maasdam will be the first blue-hulled HAL ship to visit Port Everglades/Ft. Lauderdale, FL for the 2017 Fall/Winter season. As of right now, her arrival is scheduled for 6:00 AM local and she's assigned Berth 26, one of the "regular" HAL berths. Her departure is scheduled for 4:00 PM when Captain Arno Jutten will take her south into the Caribbean for a call at Cartagena, Colombia on Saturday, a Panama Canal transit and, eventually, an arrival in San Diego, CA on 27 Sep 2017 The action can be seen at: http://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/ and perhaps at: http://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/ The next HAL ship in Port Everglades will not be until 18 Oct 2017 when Koningsdam makes a call 9/13/2017 Wed FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 9/14/2017 Thu At Sea (Caribbean Sea) 9/15/2017 Fri At Sea 9/16/2017 Sat Cartagena 9/17/2017 Sun Transit the Panama Canal 9/18/2017 Mon At Sea (Pacific Ocean) 9/19/2017 Tue Puerto Caldera (Puntarenas) 9/20/2017 Wed Corinto 9/21/2017 Thu Puerto Quetzal 9/22/2017 Fri Puerto Chiapas, Chiapas 9/23/2017 Sat At Sea (Pacific Ocean) 9/24/2017 Sun At Sea 9/25/2017 Mon Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur 9/26/2017 Tue At Sea (Pacific Ocean) 9/27/2017 Wed SAN DIEGO, CA Edited September 12, 2017 by Copper10-

Rare Scrapnana Posted September 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Just checked her location and she is just east of West Palm Beach (about 50 miles north of FLL) doing about 11.5 knots. Looks like she should arrive very close to her scheduled time.

Happily@Sea Posted September 13, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Maybe they are enforcing the daylight only passages, Carnival Splendor still sitting there from yesterday in #4. She's bound for Half Moon Cay.

Rare rafinmd Posted September 13, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Maasdam reported on the port schedule (https://pevvesseltraffic.broward.org/webx/) as arriving at 6:40. I think that is the time the pilot is picked up. 2 cruise ships left between 9 and 11 PM so it appears that arrivals must be in daylight but departures at night are permitted. Carnival Splendor probably came back from a mission to keep cruisers safe. It's next cruise is not until tomorrow. Roy

Roy Thanks, Roy, I thought it might be something like that for Splendor - not necessarily a mission but a time adjustment schedule. And leaving in the dark, sounds reasonable, people are having to arrive and get around these damaged port cities.
Rare POA1 Posted September 13, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Carnival is shuttling people from St. Thomas back to Florida and sending supplies. They are also keeping one ship in Port Everglades and one in Miami as temporary employee housing.

Splendor is temporary CCL employee housing last night and tonight. There are still over a million homes without power in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Pretty much all the cruise lines are headquartered down here. Four days without a/c in our lovely Florida summer - and then going to work and having people yell because they don't know their updated itineraries can't be fun. Straitlover Posted September 13, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Splendor leaves Thursday on it's next cruise. Passengers are being allowed to stay on after arrival at Port Everglades until Thursday due to missed flights, etc.

It cannot be easy in the heat and no power; some of our friends and family in South Florida have power, others not so lucky. Nobody had major damage - but still need to hear about cousins in Miami area about there warehouse - it was underwater. Another's restaurant did not lose power apparently. I saw on CC that HMC did not have much damage and Carnival will be calling there soon.
