Bigbluegal Posted September 17, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted September 17, 2017 It is just one right after the other:(....and headed to the same area. Hopefully it will lose strength instead of gain. Of course I do not want my vacation to be cancelled but more than that would be the welfare of the people on these islands.

Jasukkie Posted September 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2017 We are scheduled on Anthem to Bermuda next Saturday. The long range forecast for our time there looks bad. If we head north instead, we could be returning into the storm. I know I'm worrying way ahead but does anyone know what the options could be on a 5 day cruise from Bayonne? Totally out of anyone's control, we will roll with whatever happens, but hoping we get on the boat.
mommao729 Posted September 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2017 I'm also watching this. Going on the harmony on the 30. Said Maria is looking like Irma. Supposed to be in Puerto Rico on Thursday then around Haiti Friday morning. Where it goes from there no one knows yet. But if it comes up the east coast doesn't look like we will be cruising. Hoping for the best.
Ocean Boy Posted September 17, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2017 The folks on those islands must just be shaking their heads at the thought of another hit. Maybe the only bright side is it might be better to take the hit before rebuilding than after if they have to take it at all.
Blauelini Posted September 17, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2017 Oasis leaving Port Canaveral on 9/24 is going to have some good seas to go through until it gets south of Freeport where the islands will shelter it. Looking forward to it!!
hollon Posted September 17, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2017 I'm suppose to go on Harmony sept 23rd, hope we get to make it, but especially hope the hurricane doesn't hurt the island/people
mommao729 Posted September 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 17, 2017 Yes. I am praying for those people on the islands. I can't imagine another storm coming. Also hope it doesn't hit florida again. I live in South Carolina so I will be watching the weather forecasts.

let's go cruising Posted September 17, 2017 #13 Share Posted September 17, 2017 My cruise isn't until Christmas. What about the people already ON their cruise? I haven't seen an announcement on them. Agreed with all the comments about the people directly affected (effected? I can never remember) too! Good thread. Renee

JAMESCC Posted September 17, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 17, 2017 I was gonna start a thread on this hurricane this morning but thought I might be too soon with panic. We are on anthem September 28th to Canada/NE and I'm worried about the remants of one of these coming up that way. We dodged a hurricane last year on Breakaway to Bermuda, ended up a perfect cruise. This year we went North to avoid this BS and it's still a possible issue. Sent from my Pixel using Forums mobile app
pharaoh Posted September 17, 2017 #17 Share Posted September 17, 2017 We're on Harmony 10/7 and I am praying our cruise goes off without a hitch [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24] We just survived stupid Irma! I can't do this again! I'm moving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
boscobeans Posted September 17, 2017 #18 Share Posted September 17, 2017 Maybe the changes being made for future cruises to this area should hold off until we get a lot closer to the new year... https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/atlantic/2017/tropical-storm-maria bosco

Several years ago we were on a NE/Canada cruise on the Explorer and evidently there was a hurricane out there. We went to Quebec and spent an overnight there. A memorable cruise! Dan-P Posted September 17, 2017 #21 Share Posted September 17, 2017 I'm currently on the Adventure of the Seas out of San Juan. Captain announced this morning that our itinerary will be altered by Maria, but wasn't sure exactly how at that point. Waiting to hear. Dan. Maybe the only bright side is it might be better to take the hit before rebuilding than after if they have to take it at all. Actually they are, those that have a way of knowing anyway. My friends in PR are bracing, they received damage from IRMA and some are still without power. It's never a good time to take a hit. Many live off tourism and this is horrible news for them.
