For our 50th wedding anniversary, we are looking at the Regal for a TA followed by the Baltic segment.

We are thinking about booking club class but are worried by the steel balcony railing in cabins L107, L108, M107, and M108. I spend a lot of the time on the balcony so not being able to see the ocean while sitting would not make me happy. Did the steel (vs glass) bother you?

Cheers,

Morris

Thanks for your explanation Barb. However I am seeing his photos perfectly in each post, no links required and just a little bit of Jonathon's text above each photo. There are no links appearing in his posts in relation to the photos he has uploaded.

Have you tried another browser? I'm using IE at the moment for this site and as I said his photos are there straight up with each post.

I use Chrome and I'm having trouble figuring out how to get IE. My DH uses it so I'll sign on to his account and see if that works. If I look at any of Johnthon's photos, photobucket has a msg "Go Ad free" and that requires an annual subscription to their site at a minimum of $60/yr. It would only make sense if you wanted to use photobucket to upload your own photos for sharing--not for looking at someone else's. It's a mystery (to me, at least), why the ad/no ad would depend on one's browser.

Just went to Wikipedia to find out more about photobucket and this is what they had to say:

"
On June 28, 2017, Photobucket changed its Terms of Use regarding free accounts and third party hosting (hosting on forums, eBay, etc). Only the most expensive plan, at $399.99 per year, now permits third party hosting and linking to forums.
Photobucket made this change with no input or consultation with their current users, or the public. Adding this to Photobucket's use of excessive
,
, clickbait advertisements, and in some cases
, the number of active accounts quickly decreased."

So I guess it's kind of "buyer beware."

Thanks for trying to help me out with this! And, Jonathan, I apoligize for "interrupting" your thread!

Morris,

The M107 cabin is spectacular. It is a two room cabin with a massive balcony. We had 50+ out there for sail away and there was still plenty of room.

We love to look at the sea too. But, don't the opportunity to book this cabin. You can probably see the ocean because the view is so expansive.

Plus Club Class is superb. Nutella crepes made by a chef who caters exclusivelly for club class. The service was superb. Of course you're far forward so any choppy seas you'll feel. Otherwise that cabin is a gem.

Jonathan,

Many thanks for your fast response.

We have 47 cruises under our belt so choppy is not a concern.

We hate the small balconies on the Regal and Royal so the large balcony is very appealing.

We will take your recommendation and book this cabin.

Cheers,

Morris

You're in for a treat Suite Traveler. On the second night of the cruise my wife said, "This is in the top 3 of all of the cruises we've taken". It was. You will love this ship, can't wait to cruise Regal again soon.

Jonathan

That's great news! I've been looking forward to sailing on Regal. I got this last minute not the club class as I had hoped for, but on the other hand, this cruise is so port intensive, I'm sure most of our time will be spent in port and we're not shy about going to restaurants while in port -that's in important part of traveling to us so I am sure we will do fine between the MDR and various restaurants we try shoreside.

Morris,

You're a veteran cruiser you will love Club Class and that cabin. I know Elite has breakfast and lunch at Sabatini's but, the exclusive Chef July creating amazing dishes was a real show stopper.

Bravo to Princess for adding this unique wrinkle to their new cabin class.

I will be posting a full review so check it for Club Class pointers.

Happy Cruising,

Jonathan

Regal is a class act, you will love the ship. Agree, we enjoy dining ashore too. Don't the oysters in Newport, they were the best.

Have a great cruise.

I would hope that Photobucket will lose customers and learn a lesson from their money-grab tactics. There are many great photo reviews on CC that have lost their photos because the writer didn't cough up the ransom.

Luckily I chose Flickr which I am still happy with after all these years. It shows all the camera info for each photo which I need to refer to and it's so easy to put photos into CC from there. And it's free!

Jonathan's excellent photos show up fine though. Even some of the seasoned enthusiastic and skillful photographers in the Photo and Camera discussion board have a blank where their photos used to be, thanks to Photobastard.

Anyway, back to this enjoyable review!

Happy cruising to you too Jonathan.

DW & I enjoyed your pictures and help. Many thanks.

Since there are only four of these cabins, there might be issues booking your favourite cabin. Are you aware of any negatives with the lido deck cabins (L107 & L108)?

Cheers,

Morris

Hello Morris,

L107 & 108 are both fine cabins they are just not as big as M107 and 108.

Both of the balconies are large compared to the tiny standard Royal class balconies. However, the Lido balconies are a fraction of the size of the forward Marina 107 and 108.

The living space too is a different configuration in the Lido cabin.

Here's a youtube video of the L108 from Royal Princess:

Here's a youtube video of M107 from the Regal:

Have a wonderful cruise and enjoy your Lido balcony!

I noted that M107 stated you could only access the balcony while in port. Why is that? Was that an issue for you?

Okay, I am going back to Flickr for the remainder of this review.

Jonathan, I added an ad-blocker today and I've now had the ad-free opportunity to view your lovely photos. We did a Canada-NE cruise 2 years ago, although we didn't stop at Newport. Your photos bring back fond memories of that cruise. Thanks so much for sharing.

We went out on the balcony plenty of times when the ship was at sea or just leaving port.

If it's very windy you don't really want to be out there.

So pleased to hear you were able to that Barb. Flickr was not working for me today, long story, going to stay with photobucket for now.
