Last Minute Deals

Recommended Posts

Most last minute deals are sold out so quickly that they dont make it to the cruise line or the TA's website.....the agents do however send out newsletters and flashes to those who are registered to get their newsletters. Best idea is to sign up with as many as you can and you will soon see the ones who are active.

Sometimes any last minute vacancies will just be given to "active" agents who the cruise lines know have genuine cruisers on their books.

One of the best deals I ever got was from an agents blackboard that she had just put outside her shop as I was walking past .I did a double take and said I'll take that and booked and paid for it on the spot.

As suggested monitor or subscribe to the few online TA's that offer the last minute deals and when you see one, act straight away and then post on the el cheapo deals thread to let others get in. FB also has a nice site - search for a group called something like Aussie cruise deals.

When I get on board I always hear about passengers who got a really cheap last minute cruise. Anyone have a website of where to find really good deals? Able to go at the drop of the hat now so keen to find a bargain.

Decide what cruise you would like and where you would like to leave from. Then check those cruises online obsessively for the month before they depart, especially the last week.

I usually only check two sites. One that I hop onto regularly and another that specialises in Oz cruises.

My last cruise was a $780 single inside for 10 days on Pacific Explorer, which I thought was good until I hopped over to another site the next day and saw it for $630. This was about 3 weeks before departure and the price lasted about 2 days.

Also, if they say the cruise is booked out, don't believe them. There will almost always be late cabins coming available until near sail time.

Watch cruises outside the school holidays. Repositioning cruises have excellent itineraries and are often longer but you will need to factor in flying back. February after the kids have gone back is another good time to grab a last minute bargain.

I would love to get y’alls expert opinion on this little ripper I have found.

10 nights South Pacific

P&O Pacific Explorer

Balcony cabin x 2

Premium alcohol package x 2

$100 OBC

$1850 pp

I am loving this price and can’t find much else that has everything that I want. What I want to know is, this sails the very end of April...is that a good time for swimming and snorkelling? I would need somewhere around the 27 degrees celsius mark to get in the water comfortably. Not worried about rough weather or rainy days, but would prefer sunshine.

Is this a good price for the time of year? Is there anything else I should be worried about with this itinerary? Should I nick off to another thread that is more appropriate?

Cheers

That price seems very expensive to me. It works out at around $175 per day and I havent cruised P&O before but friends told me some things that are included on other cruises you have to pay extra for on P&O. We sailed in a balcony cabin on Carnival Spirit last May and the weather was beautiful and still warm enough to swim on islands but cold for the first 2 sea days after we left Sydney. We paid $62 pp per night (11 night cruise) but that didn’t include drinks package or any obc and was triple share.

Should probably add to the above that we booked about 8 or 9 weeks out so it was probably considered “last minute” and it was Guaranteed balcony (we ended up with obstructed Balcony but that just meant there was a tender boat on the floor below us so we could see straight out but not directly to the ocean below us.

I do think it is a good price as it is a balcony cabin and has the drink packages included and for me that makes it good value, however, unless you drink (5 or 6 a day or more) it may not be worth it for you. Water temps will still be nice for swimming especially as you are living south of Queensland.

Thank you all so much for your answers.

The drinks package has worked for me and allows me to completely relax. Going to lock this one down as the price has already gone up.

Cheers

Good work, remember that water should be included in the package as well.

Don’t wait too long. Waiting for a good price is nice but when the cheap cabins booked only higher priced cabins are left. Happened to me on cruise I’m tasking. I got the last cheap unabstructef veranda. Price after me went up quite a few hundred dollars

Thanks MicCanberra, water is key to getting value from the package ;) I will be taking full advantage.

Ericabag, I have this price held until tomorrow, so am not waiting any longer, it’s already gone up to $2099.

Thanks again everyone for your good advice and sorry for highjacking this thread, this cruise isn’t exactly ‘last minute’.

Cheers

Yup, but it’s all locked in now, just an agonising 6 month wait o_O

Something to look forward to at least. I know a few who have not got any in the pipeline and cannot book anything until their circumstances can improve.

Absolutely, this will keep me going, and I’m a planner, so plenty to do. I have waited much longer before and that was my first cruise, totally worth it of course.

It’s always nice to have something planned, something to focus on and I feel for those who don’t. For the last two years I was one of them...until today YIPEE lol
