How many people live on cruise ship as passengers?

Hank that's correct.

Many are not on board very much and often rent them out. Some purchase them because........for some small change.

For the women we know this would not be a good alternative for them.

We once heard a story (not sure if its true) of a wealthy family that purchased a condo on the World as a gift for their parents (they thought it was a cool way to get them out of their hair). I am wondering if we could annoy our DD enough that she might consider a similar gift :).

I've mentioned before the couple, and also the single person, who live on UK ships which sail out of Southampton. They have apartments near the dock. The ships they use are ones which do varied itineraries ranging from 2 nights to 28 nights; they can go home when they're in port, and if they need to deal with issues such as banks and doctors, they can spend time on shore instead of the 2 night cruise. I would call this living at sea, but they also have a home on shore.

Royal has one guest, "Super Mario" who "lives" aboard and runs his business from what ever ship he is on. Here is one story about him: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/business/tourism/fl-royal-caribbean-avid-cruiser-20160429-story.html.

We have been aboard when Mario has been cruising. His office is usually on the pool deck :)

The bartender mentioned him he was on the indy for months at a time then goes onto another ship. Nice if you have the money. Mama lee's story was revealed because a couple of passenger she shared a dinner table wondered why the staff on the HAL ship were taking such good care of her. She revealed she had been on the ship for years and the story come out and hit the internet. She has a lot better setup on the Crystal ship though she was probably the only long term passenger on the Holland America Ship that she was on. Mario is likely the same onboard the the RCL ships he is more crew than passenger now. I bet he has been invited to the crew bar below decks which very few passengers. He has formed frienships with the crew which very few will do.

There is perhaps a certain romanticism about it. But it must be hard to have people coming in and out your life. What would you do but hit up the solo travellers event every cruise and hope you connect with a couple of people?
