Tony & Trevor Posted November 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2017 According to Marks latest blog he takes command of the cruise ship 'the World'. As many passengers will recoil Mark has spent many years with SB. Good luck Mark in your new command. Kind regards, Tony

Haworth Posted November 16, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Good luck and best wishes to Captain Dexter, he was in command of Seabourn Pride when we took our first cruise with them, as a habitual early riser I would often exchange few words with him as we approached the port. That cruise also had Nick Hale as CD and Luca as Maitre D, no wonder we were hooked.
Isklaar Posted November 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2017 This is a loss for Seabourn. It's no coincidence that Captain Dexter was in command on the best of my Seabourn cruises. Very best wishes to him in his new venture.
SLSD Posted November 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2017 I've read about residence cruise ships, but had not read about The World. Very interesting: http://aboardtheworld.com
oregon50 Posted November 16, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Another irrelevant post. You might be surprised to learn that about two other people posting on here are not aware of The World.
World Cruiser Posted November 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Another Loss for Seabourn! Captain Mark will be missed by the passengers who sailed with him and his beloved crews who served under him. Three of my favorite cruises were with him. He love showing up at Trivial Pursuit with the question of the day.
shefinch Posted November 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Oh no, what dreadful news! He was our favourite captain. All these people leaving SB.
SLSD Posted November 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Oregon50. What is your issue with me? I did not see my post as irrelevant. I'm sorry if you did. But even if you did, why do you feel the need to point it out?
wripro Posted November 16, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 16, 2017 This makes me sad. Mark was a true gentleman and made very voyage with him a happy one. I wish him the best.

But even if you did, why do you feel the need to point it out? SLSD, I totally agree. I also agree with other posts, Mark Dexter was so friendly, a good Captain and will be missed. 2SailingNomads Posted November 16, 2017 #12 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Truly sad for us - a gentleman. When we were on the Encore a few months back and he was the Captain, a few of the crew hinted he might be leaving.
SLSD Posted November 16, 2017 #13 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Thank you ab21au, I was beginning to feel like a very unwelcome newcomer to this board. I hope that is not the case. I'm just an enthusiastic newcomer cruiser (two cruises--SB and SS) who makes friends easily onboard (along with my husband) and is not very high maintenance. Joolsverne Posted November 16, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 16, 2017 That's a loss for Seabourn. We enjoyed having him as our Captain this year.
Sunprince Posted November 16, 2017 #15 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Thank you ab21au, I was beginning to feel like a very unwelcome newcomer to this board. I hope that is not the case. I'm just an enthusiastic newcomer cruiser (two cruises--SB and SS) who makes friends easily onboard (along with my husband) and is not very high maintenance. Sounds like you and your husband would be a pleasure to sail with SLSD...we love nice, friendly, low maintenance people!! Don’t take CC too seriously, the SB board is relatively friendly. The Regent board otoh gets outright nasty sometimes if you do not agree with certain posters who think they know everything and can speak for everyone. cjjersey Posted November 17, 2017 #16 Share Posted November 17, 2017 Sad to see him go, we were on the Encore Jan/Feb. he handled the Bump situation really well. We felt we were in safe hands. koalapanda Posted November 17, 2017 #17 Share Posted November 17, 2017 Captain and Mrs Dexter were on our July Encore cruise. Delightful couple . Captain Dexter's wry sense of humour and easy manner made for a pleasant journey.

The three of them, along with the other crew members of the Pride, made our first cruise (Baltic) such a wonderful experience, that we have mainly stayed with Seabourn ever since.
