frankc98376 Posted December 11, 2017 #51 Share Posted December 11, 2017 How did you get a discount of over 80% in that restaurant? How did you get a Should be 50%- ours ends up being $24.50 pp. Perhaps someone on board was being nice :)
KroozNut Posted December 12, 2017 #52 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Now that would be impressive. $49 for a bowl of grits. They'd better be good grits for that price! :o

MisterBill99 Posted December 12, 2017 #55 Share Posted December 12, 2017 I would prefer grits to foie gras. At least grits are edible.Foie gras is excellent! I actually had 3 servings of the foie appetizer when we were on Eurodam in March. I noticed it's on 2 of the 3 gala night menus on their website. Will we have all 3 menus on our 14 night Norway cruise in June? It's not B2B, one single cruise. navybankerteacher Posted December 12, 2017 #56 Share Posted December 12, 2017 When identified as pate de foie gras on the menu. Foie gras is fois gras - whether entier, pate or terrine -- however, I agree that it would be most appropriate for the menu to specify the form. KroozNut Posted December 12, 2017 #58 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Please- grits IS edible, not grits "are" anything. With grits, both 'is' and 'are' are acceptable uses according to the grammar references I can find. I'd like to see your reference saying that 'is' is the only correct use. Using your logic, would it be oats are good or oats is good?

To understand the proper usage of the word "grits" as a name for a dish, answer the following question: when discussing your breakfast, would you say "oatmeal ARE good" or "oatmeal IS good"? Still looking for the reference (other than you of course).. If you're eating grits, and a single little gritty morsel escapes to the floor, you could properly say "I dropped a grit - does anyone see a grit on the floor? Hey, that IS my grit, right next to your left foot - quick - don't let the hound get it! " But if you're eating a heap of them, ideally with butter, salt, pepper, and maybe some grated cheddar in the mix, you're eating grits and you're eating all of them, because grits ARE so good! :) Edited December 13, 2017 by KroozNut

2XTRADIRTIES Posted December 13, 2017 #66 Share Posted December 13, 2017 We just disembarked the Eurodam Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed Sel de Mer ...In fact it was probably the best meal we had in over 45 HAL cruises including chefs table. In fact, we already have 2 reservations at Sel de Mer next month on the Koningsdam . Be sure to order the soufflé for dessert! AncientWanderer Posted December 14, 2017 #68 Share Posted December 14, 2017 We were on a long Westerdam cruise in October and ate at Sel de Mer two times. I wish I could have gone three times....or four times, or.... well, you can sense my enthusiasm. I had the dover sole both times because it was wonderful. I can't remember what DH had, but he was happy, too. We had a variety of sides and things. Really loved our meals. Maybe a weak point was the desserts? Don't remember. But big Sel de Mer fan here. CherryG Posted December 14, 2017 #69 Share Posted December 14, 2017 When we were on the NA in November, I was sure our Sal de Mer dinner was for Thursday at 7 pm. Wednesday evening (late dinner sitting), we ordered our wine and dinner and a hostess came to our table trying to drum up customers for the Tammirind for Thursday night. I said we're going to Sal de Mer, and she got a funny look on her face and said "I think that's tonight". Oh, oh! Silly me. She went and checked and of course I was wrong, but she said if we still wanted to go, we could. Our food hadn't arrived yet, so we did go and dinner was very good. She escorted us and they were very polite over my mistake of the day. Someone had commented before we cruised that they missed their night there, and were charged. I noticed when we got the final invoice, that I had been credited back the cost (we'd booked before boarding), and then was charged again when we went. There was a card in our room upon boarding that had the proper date, but it didn't say Wednesday, just the exact date.

We came off the Eurodam a week earlier and were very disappointed at Sel de Mer. Misses ordered Dover sole and was worst she ever had. The PM brought her lobster tails to try and make her happy. In addition I was dumbfounded that baby shrimp would be an appretizer when the PG menu offers jumbo shrimp.
